daaamn, those HKS head studs! Not sure if they're reuseable but still hella cool. Can't wait to see the build, man. Also, great shoutout to Jafro! Hopefully he sees/watches this video.
Haha nice little souvenir for sure. Yeah Jafro has some super solid vids that I have been referencing and would be awesome if I could pick his brain some day. Shoot I’d fly him out and have him give me a hand haha
I upgraded my 3000gt VR4 lifts to big bore lifters. No more lifter tick.. The opening at the top of the lifter was so small. It looks like the EVO lifters are a lot better in terms of the opening at the top to allow better flow of oil.
I’d take it to a machine shop to have them go through it and make sure it has no bent valves or deck issues and to hot tank it to clean it up real good.
Those don't look like stock pistons from what I can tell, no factory writing on the pistons and the valve relief looks sharper. The valve spring retainers might also be aftermarket which might indicate valve springs as well. So you might have few goodies in that engine and I suggest you get someone who is familiar with DSM/Mitsu's to look it over.
Also they look like 3mm zero tick lifters already, so they probably just need a clean. The HKS Headstuds and non OEM head gasket is another giveaway that it's been upgraded.
@@SubBassFrequency the engine had some work done for sure. I’m intrigued now and definitely going to do the research. I knew the car the engine was in and it sounded beefy
I think you will end up spending the money now or later. You might as well build it! Get the valves, valve spring, and seals done! If you got the big bucks, send it to 4Piston and get it all done!
Check to see when the belt has been made. You don't want to put the timing belts on and it's say 5 years old already. Usually it's 5 years or 96000km whichever comes first.
@Capt Two6 I'll be going to South Korea later this year for a Tour and was hoping I can visit Japan. But mainly I was wondering if you would be able to do a video on Importing a Japanese car into the USA through the military? I know a requirement is it has to be 25 years or older from date of manufacture, but that's all I know. Hope you have time for it! thanks in advance.
All the internals are scrap, I’d replace all the internals to be on the safe side, not to mention, I guarantee there are bent valves, it’s gonna need headwork for sure
Jafromobile he is the man when it comes onto dsm stuff

Heck yea brother!! It's coming along. Let's make a deal on parts!!
Excited to see what color it will be!
It’s gonna look good!
cool man, good start.
muffin tins work good for parts sorting.
Didn’t even think about that. Might have more room than ice trays 👍🏻
@@CaptTwo6 lol they make them in 6, 12 and 18.
they work really good for nuts bolts and fasteners.
easy to sort and retrieve.

That’s definitely what I’m leaning towards. I just got the valve spring tool in the mail so going to get it stripped down this weekend 🤙🏻

I replaced my rockers with Evo8 rockers, also looks like you already have the revised lifters with the bigger hole
Amazing! Nice Evo dude

Thanks bro! I’m so on the fence and wish I had local support. Still trying to research and find a good shop I can work with around here

Nice
What size 12 point socket for the head nut?
Ooooh I don’t remember if I’m being honest. I want to say 17mm. I think most of the bolts were 12/14/17 and maybe 21 for the crank
Steve got a titanium exhaust bro...
I saw bro! He’s pumping out so many parts for his car. Wish I was back in Japan haha. So much easier to get things
@@CaptTwo6 you still got bros there work em lol
Best thing is to do a complete rebuild, you never know until its repack only to find something else
