  • My freshly washed Subaru Vortex XT stars in a video I managed to make, despite still getting used to the focus and other settings on my DJI Osmo Pocket camera. It's a trip up to Mt Mee (yes, it's called that) on local, twisty roads. And yes, a microphone windsock is on order. Visit classicandclunker.com

Me too! Lost count of how many Subarus I've owned. I currently have a Baja. The new models are getting pretty boring though.

Yeah it's a great old wedge! I have done more videos after it got some rust work. Ha, the music is fast and loose on the old Casio electric piano..

Wow, did this take me down memory lane. I had the American version. The technology in it was ahead of it's time in the one I had. Digital instrument cluster, adjustable air suspension and 4 wheel drive. Although I think some were AWD. I had the turbo engine. Unfortunately those engines with the turbo were prone to blowing head gaskets and that's what happened to mine. Even with the head gasket blown I was still able to sell it for a good price to the Subaru mechanic that did work on it prior. They were rare cars even back then so that's how I was able to sell it for a good price. I've searched to try and find another one recently and there's very few in the U.S. so I didn't find any. Great video and sweet car!

Thanks for the 'music' overlay right when we could have heard the engine (sarcastic smiley face)

HA..well I think you'll find there was a lot of rattling from the in-car setup I used then, which is why I went hard on the music. I have another run up the mountain just the other day in the can, awaiting editing, so stay tuned!

cool video ..... to solve the leaking water from sun roof have to clean the lines that run from either side happens with my old prelude when you open the sunroof you should be able to pour water down there and it should flow out the bottom both sides if it doesn't it's blocked

Thanks, and I've done an update video on the sunroof/rust work since this one - had a better sunroof seal put in, and 2 drains were actually blocked off for some reason!? Doesn't leak at all now

That's great to hear about another one living on! It's not the white one I used to have is it? FB forums for XT, old school Subaru and "4x140 or GTFO" are a great resource. There are a few used items on EBay at the moment. Otherwise a lot of parts are same as Leone so you can order via parts stores. What parts will you be after?

They're not on this Australian-delivered model. I think that's just a US feature.

@@classicandclunker Yes, the US started requiring automatic restraints and motorized belts were easier than adding airbags.
