Amazing Sonny, I discovered after listening to hundreds of Sonny tunes he had the uncanny ability to make himself sound like Bird, classic example autumn in new York, yet he had his own distinctive sound on alto and tenor.I think Sonny had so much admaration and respect for Bird on occasions he chose to imitate him, imitation being the most sincere form of flattery,to wit it takes a great musician too even try and imitate the Legendary Charlie Parker.
my favorite sax improvisation of all time. so haunting. so much tone. and so much soul...

Every note through every chord change is gold!
Sonny could put out that emotion for sure
sublime
Parker...Sonny...old dilemma, I love both!
Too good.
YES!!!!!!!!
I've thought that Sonny Stitt's alto solo is different from Charlie parker's one. Sonny's is more melodiuos than Parker's.
He plays alto on this tune so why showing him playing tenor on the cover ?

Info is correct in one respect only - it's Sonny Stitt playing "Autumn in New York". Everything else is false - the date, the place and the musicians.
