if a company has the money to lobby with hundreds of millions of dollars they have hte money to pay their employees... money they are going to write off in taxes. Money they are going to offshore into other territories offshore.
In California, they pay the drivers less than half of what they charge the riders.... they have both stated that their fee collection is only 25 percent of the fare.

Oh we might think we are a democratic republic but we all know big money is what drives this company oops I mean country. Remove that constraint and progress would flow like an unfettered faucet.
Democrats have a majority in Oregon too... But that hasn't helped pass progressive laws. Republicans just stay absent so there is no quorum and so sessions can't happen. It's so frustrating!!!
Workers don’t have rights in this country it all depends on where you work wether you get paid sick leave, paid vacation, a 401k or other retirement plan, wether you get health insurance, or any benefits at all and they can take those away at any time. In other words people have no stability at all when it comes to benefits. We need worker’s rights across the board it shouldn’t matter where you work.
Not progressive. Taxis are private ride shares regulated by the city or state because the city or state wanted to regulate the quality of the drivers and the quality of the vehicles. That's why these apps are banned in cities with taxi services.

Think of the power, the workers could have, with everyone in a union.. they could stop the entire country. They could demand a better minimum wage, vacation days, working houers.. anything could be brought to the table. You need a 3 part negotiation.. not just big business bosses and government. 😊
That is so Great! I have been driving for Uber for the past 5 months part time(Have a great full time job, Husband was laid off and still looking for work.) There are days I feel like I am getting so screwed.
Excellent.
It's definitely an exciting time to live here- although the Governor's veto is obnoxious 🤦🏾♀️😒
Still we're in a very exciting time in MN politics tbh
Everyone's organizing efforts are starting to pay off
Great job Minnesota!
Turning the apps into taxi services?
if a company has the money to lobby with hundreds of millions of dollars they have hte money to pay their employees... money they are going to write off in taxes. Money they are going to offshore into other territories offshore.
Congrats to them
Good job Minnesota, you love to see it!
Seeing my state make Anna genuinely happy? Priceless!
In California, they pay the drivers less than half of what they charge the riders.... they have both stated that their fee collection is only 25 percent of the fare.
Long live the working middle class! Great job progressives!
Higher ride share fees for the working middle class to pay. $$$
@@X2LR8 Cop out. Companies could reduce their profits to pay fairly and charge fairly. But they're thieves so they never will. Can't give in to the threat of punishing us normal when they are already punishing us.
@@crestofscribbles8761 these companies aren't really profitable
@@Dan16673 Great. Then they can shut down and let a real human start a business that pays and charges fairly. Threatening consumers and abusing employees isn't a right just because the mega rich declare a business "not really profitable". Uber is experiencing continuous 19%+ growth year over year alone. Stop eating the lies the rich are feeding you. They're skinning us alive and paying nothing.
@@christopherperrybacon You don't think they'll raise prices? I"m sure they will.
The term we have used for decades is Wage Slaves.
It must be depressing being a progressive in America if this is such a cause for celebration - Minnesota is approaching the same level of worker protection as the most deprived EU country and that counts as a success story. I'm happy to see these large companies lose cases like this but there's still so far to go.
The worst part about being a Progressive in America ... constantly be called a Liberal.
I agree but at least we are moving forward. I live in Minnesota and there are several things that have passed this session that will make my life better. Unfortunately it is rare to get that from the government in the US.
Sadly the progress is hampered by those I call reversionists. They are the ones who are stuck in the past. The times when oligarchs were essentially the ones ruling everything.
Republican pussies, We need a supper Democratic Majority in Oregon. It's coming.
Oh my God I am shocked you are actually doing a story that is favorable to the Democratic party. Miracles surely shall never cease
Amazing that the Democratic party actually did something favorable " Miracles surely shall never cease"
Yeah… but only a brief respite from their journey to becoming right of center.
This is a story about progressive values as opposed to the corporatist values of most democratic politicians.
Hurray Minnesota! So proud to live here!
it was vetoed
Workers don’t have rights in this country it all depends on where you work wether you get paid sick leave, paid vacation, a 401k or other retirement plan, wether you get health insurance, or any benefits at all and they can take those away at any time. In other words people have no stability at all when it comes to benefits. We need worker’s rights across the board it shouldn’t matter where you work.
Minnesota Democrats are famously very progressive I wish all Democrats was like their party
Not progressive. Taxis are private ride shares regulated by the city or state because the city or state wanted to regulate the quality of the drivers and the quality of the vehicles. That's why these apps are banned in cities with taxi services.
I love my state of Minnesota! 💙
LoL your Governor just vetoed the bill which pass thru house and senate. U must be proud of him.
Getting it Done. We need more men like him!! We have people who been their 30years and get nothing DONE!!!
Trolls in the chat : mimimi the prices will go up.
The next day : Oh of course I will pay 20 times more for insulin. Have my money big pharma. Capitalism Baby!
isn't it funny that they bitch about the Big Macs getting expensive but pay a fortune for healthcare products and have no problem with a 500% markup
@@garyhoelting5994 Isn't funny that you oppose using Our Tax Dollars for Health Insurance? You prefer that money go to tax loopholes for billionaires, instead.
@@garyhoelting5994 That's funny coming from a progressive liberal. You people basically became marketing partners for Pfizer in 2020

All the more reason for the rest of the country to watch Minnesota like a hawk...
To learn how to advance progressive policies so their states can benefit from them, too?
@@jasonerickson1753 I meant more so to make sure that the progressives in Minnesota don't get corrupted by corporate money, or that if they do, people can offset any ill effects thereof sooner.
But yes, learning from Minnesota's success has lessons for the rest of the country too!
Nursing bill includes huge cutout for Mayo hospital system, as well as no nurse staffing limits. Mayo whined, got what they wanted.
Yes it's not food or housing but isn't transportation the next essential component? People use Uber to get to work....
I wanted to work until I was 70 to pay back my student loans but my health doesn't allow me to work. I am only 55.
🙌🏼 M'NI SOTA 💯 it's my home
Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party showing the rest of us how to utilize power.
@@jamesbailey8635 let's hope all take notice and get the corruption out, make this land "for the people-by the people"

The labour movement started in the US - how did it go so far backwards?
I know right? They're approaching the levels of labour rights present in the most deprived EU member state and they're ecstatic about it.
@@davidhughes4089 It is a constant mystery to me why the people are so easily conned into voting against their own interests.
I think that it has a lot to do with the massive tabloid press there.
The president who most wanted to create these sorts of programs - LBJ spent all his political capital ending segregation. While post war social democrats where building the social safety net in western Europe the US was still dealing with Jim Crow. Hopefully what we are seeing is the beginning of real social democracy in the US.
