My grandmother wrote to Joan Crawford for over 18 years. In the early 70s my grandmother took me and my mother to a book signing that Joan did at Macy's. She knew my grandmother by name and treated her like an old friend. This is how she treated all of her fans. She was such a cool lady.
I DID THE SAME THING WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND TOLD HER I LOVED HER IN THE MOVIE TROG AND SHE SENT ME BACK 6 PICTURES OF HER IN THE MOVIE ALL SIGNED TO ME AND THE WEIRD THING WAS THE ENVELOPE HAD HER ACTUAL ADDRESS ON IT AND WHEN WE WENT TO N.Y. IT WAS INDEED HER PLACE SHE LIVED IN BUT WE WERE AFRAID TO KNOCK.
The glamour, the talent, the class of this bygone era: in just a few short decades how much things have changed. l am absolutely loving these broadcasts which l was far too young to originally appreciate.

I remember watching this when it first aired. I was a young teenager crazy about Joan Crawford. I finally got to see her in person in 1969 when she attended the Academy Awards. What a beautiful, classy lady!
Up to six times she changed her dress. Joan Crawford opening the way to the new Divas of today. Joan Crawford QUEEN OF THE CINEMA AND ETERNAL AND PIONEER DIVA.
Joan Crawford equals GLAMOUR. She always looked dazzling and often wore her own clothes, did her makeup, and decided the hairstyle she would wear. She gave 1000 percent to everything she did. She gave it her all and acted like it was "HER SHOW" !! Its touching when she tells about Jack Jones.
They also don't have to fake and hide there aweful fake smiles anymore either. The also don't have to fake being evil as well. They also dont have to be all white anymore. Thank god those days are gone.
Christ, people who believe in that Mommie Dearest crap will say everything to add negativity on anything related to Joan. Beware, Joan Crawford is a person who hasn't done anything right in her life. She was proud of her godson? Nah, must've seduced him backstage after she talked about knowing him since he was 2 days old. Did you see her laughing? Such a phoney! Did you see her read a POEM? Monstrous!!! Get over it already.
Joan Crawford was was a true lady! Nothing but glamour and tenderness! Always looking gorgeous! Definitely no one like! No matter what people say about her or how much they poison her character, she will always be a true dame!
wow; what a show; the greatest actress ever by a country mile, and one of the most gorgeous human beings ever; if you meet one such a human being in one lifetime you have been so mightily and unforgettably blessed. Such are they who enrich this place we call heaven on earth. one day in that place in heaven some hope to meet such again with a touch of His Glory
Rafael Storm She only wanted in his pants. Too old though, and ugly. She went after everyone, men and woman trying to keep her star from falling. Sick woman.
I had never heard of this show before; growing up in a rural area before cable, we only had two channels until the early 70s-NBC and CBS; I think this show was on ABC.
Godfrey Cambridge... his humor is still relevant and spot on. Makes you think how far we have not come in inter-race relationships. His last comment is especially biting
Loved Joan cracking up with Allen and Rossi. An unscripted moment allowing us a glimpse of Joan the person and not the movie star persona. Nice dramatic reading near the end at about 50:00.
My dad worked 40 years for an investor owned electric light and power company...his stock made him a fortune when another company bought his out, and my mother will have pension and health benefits until she dies.
So many negative comments here about Joan that has nothing to do with the video we just saw. Joan obviously had fun here, unlike in some of her live appearances where she seemed anxious. Let the woman be. I wonder if she had ever done something right that passed the most respectable judgement of Mommie Dearest fanatics.
October 9, 1965 I was just born in June that year and this exact date was my parents wedding anniversary they were married 11 years at the time . I recall my parents having this show on in the late 1960s RIP Mom and Dad ✝️🕯️🛐🙌❤️🙌
Joan had terrible stage fright so this live audience must have been a challenge but she was ever the trouper and did a marvelous job all the while looking beautiful too.
I wonder what ever happened to Jack Jones. He seemed to have it all - a voice on a par with Sinatra's and Como's, looks and personality. Yet he seemed to disappear with end of the 1960's, at least on television. He may have played in Vegas for several more years.
Allen and Rossi, (which sounds like a cocktail), do nice, safe humor that's not political or profane. Gee, I remember those days when you could laugh without serious injury to yourself or your neighbors.
It's nice to see Joan Crawford WITHOUT bulky shoulder pads in her outfits. When she wore those, she looked more like a football player than an elegant lady. Those pads were a thing with her wardrobe, and they weren't at all attractive. For awhile the clothing stores were selling dresses I otherwise loved, but with shoulder pads. As soon as I took them home, I removed them. No regrets.
There are always people who downvote videos. Every single video I've ever seen with more than a few hundred views has downvotes. Don't try to figure it out. :)
RUclips is a wonderful place to find out. Bad things come out from bad people. You want to know a person is good or bad? Just look at at their comments. Heart full or anger and hate, brain full of bad thoughts. No matter how irrelevant the video is, bad mouthing is crawling out. When the pointing finger is aimed at someone, the other 3 fingers pointing to one self. So, figure it out.
I wouldn't have minded to give Joan a smootch myself. This is one of the less corny episodes of the Hollywood Palace. They should resurrect this show a few times a season. I think it would be interesting to see an updated family hour show such as this.
She looks wonderful. The clothing was awesome. If she had just gone for a more modern haircut and stopped with the big dark eyebrows, then that would've been even better.
I wonder if this Hollywood Palace is still there? If so I wonder if it still looks the same? I love the footlights, so classy, they don't make entertainment like this no more. So sad , today's stuff is trash.

@@trentaccid2177; Maybe Joan would have answered.
I believe your story.
@@trentaccid2177 I don't think you just pop in on Joan Crawford. But maybe you could have written and said you'd like an appointment to visit?

Hi Jack. Thank you for sharing your memory. The stars were brighter and bigger back then. What was Crawford like?
VERY NICE.........JACK
Wow! Lucky you (:
woah you meet her she was so amazing
But she was old not a Tuesday wild

She last saw him in the "Persian Room", and the time before that..........
28:00
"How was my intonation then?"
"Lousy."
Crawford was 59 years old in 1965. She looks great! They don't make Movie Stars like that anymore.
Someone needs their prescription checked. She looks older than 65, and that's with really good lighting.
She was 61.....and looked beautiful

thank God Mean Child abuser
Joan's intense look toward Jack Jones during the story of his birth was pure Golden Hollywood. Love old variety shows like this.
Oh this was wonderful! Watching Joan Crawford being broken up and taken off guard. Looks like she had a lot of fun.
LOL!!!
Agree 10% = more than a little phoney and ironic, I'd say
You drank the Mommie Dearest Kool Aid, hm? You really should learn your facts about Joan instead of forming an opinion from a campy movie.

@Punkanelly Lovejoy look in the mirror and you will see a fake jealous lunatic:)))
Joan looks amazing, love the hair and outfit!
Love Joan Crawford, elegant, poised, charming, gracious and professional. I love the way she appreciated her fans.
Yeah.
Me too.
OMG! The ending of the show, how she read her lines, Little Alice & Boy Blue, incredible to memorize! Joan was a True Professional Actress! The Best!
Love these old commercials too!! Thanks for sharing!
Clean, no violence TV entertainment. Wow. Who would have thunk it.
There were plenty of violent shows on TV in 1965, just not on variety programs!
@Rosemarie Plant Maybe not.
Joan Crawford was was a true lady! Nothing but glamour and tenderness! Always looking gorgeous! Definitely no one like! No matter what people say about her or how much they poison her character, she will always be a true dame!
Arely Flores the epitome of the “Grande Dame “!
Arely Flores You only know the show biz Joan.
I say that to say, You didn't know her personally
I lived her daughters story!
A true lady in front of the camera! An alcoholic and child abuser in private!
Arely Flores She acts like she's on drugs, very spacy. Probably drunk.
Neil Dickson Methinks thou doth protest too much !
Joanie Sommers is terrific! I have all of her albums. What a lively happy personality and a great voice to boot!
An affordable Edie Gormet.

So glad to see new video clips of Joan Crawford!
I express thanks for sharing many of these videos. What I enjoy among the program are the old commercials that I am learning of.
Wow! Joan looks so beautiful, regal, and Queen like here. All she’s missing is a sash and crown.
Joan Crawford was Jack Jones' godmother. At 27:45, see how proud she was of him.
Rafael Storm She only wanted in his pants. Too old though, and ugly. She went after everyone, men and woman trying to keep her star from falling. Sick woman.
+Neil Dickson You say that as if you've known her personally.
Neil Dickson And I suppose you’re young and beautiful. Where is your star ...by the way ?????
He was very handsome
I never knew that thankyou.
Joan Crawford was lovely, charming and delightful here
Thank you !
Omg!! Joan Crawford. Sensational!
Steve Rossi killin' it.
Fantastic timing across the beat, and so smooth.
Man, her final ice blue get-up was the best but it was only seen for a few moments!
Love you Joan ♥
I wish they could bring these kind of shows back instead of reality TV that is so lame and scripted.stars were stars for a reason.
Get Netflix
never bring back these outdated stuff yeah it would be really weird for this you can find these things on DVD
IF THEY DID IT WOULD BE BLACK RAPPERS AS HOSTS. THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS ARE GONE SADELY
THIS is a summer 1966 repeat.
Lily Yokoi was simply mesmerizing, and in heels too!! To think, this was way before all those BMX stunts of the '80's.
Joan was CLASS!!! 😘
Wow, those German gymnasts were GORGEOUS!
Priceless Joan
What a show that was entertainment back then costumes, acts and singers, not all this ego dropping bs on tv and cable or satellite like these days.
I had never heard of this show before; growing up in a rural area before cable, we only had two channels until the early 70s-NBC and CBS; I think this show was on ABC.
Very beautifully presented. ❤❤❤

Joanie Sommers was the 'Pepsi Girl' and no wonder that Joan who was married to the top Exec at Pepsi featured her.
My dad worked 40 years for an investor owned electric light and power company...his stock made him a fortune when another company bought his out, and my mother will have pension and health benefits until she dies.
Boy did you luck out!

She had bad stage fright/ live audience and asked many times to do theater and always turned it down
... Love Jack & Joanie's version of Call Me.
It's really sad that how she obsessed with youth, the truth is that, she looked really graceful and amazing while she was old.
I wouldn't call 59 old; these days that's just getting started...for the second time.
She would be called, today, an attractive senior citizen. And, I guess to certain people, she was also a good natured one.
Love Joan Crawford, Joan Fontaine's Bufferin Commercial
Love those ads !
The beautiful Joan Crawford 🎊🎊🎊
Godfrey Cambridge - risky stuff for 1965.
How cool is this!
Jack Jones kept getting better and better and better...............
45:17 - 47:54 is my favourite part.
This is so fabulous, Joan was divine! And didn't Jack Jones sing the Love Boat theme song?
He sure did.
What a stunning lady in the true definition of the word lady.
LOL! The black dude was funny :)
The Joan Fontaine commercial at 55 minutes is awesome.

How about them horn boys starting just before 15: 00.

Best antidepressant ever: The humor of Allen and Rossi. Keep watching. You'll come out of it.😂
LEAD Paint - SO funny
When the Western culture was at it's peak....to see what it's devolved to...how heartbreaking.
You mean when it was manufactured and carefully curated with TV station licenses, stereotypes, and careful media curation?
81 year old here.
46:18😂
is this act is still exists and seen on agt (americas got talent)?..
She got a plug in for Pepsi without saying the word.
am i watching agt here. lol
Those killer eyebrows.
