    He played this piece yesterday as an encore at his piano recital in Seoul. The sound was much more mature and well mixed with his favorite shigeru kawai piano. It feels so weird and a little bit sad to seeing him play the same song 40 years ago. Thank you for uploading this video.

      Especially with the bittersweet name, “A Farewell to St. Petersburg.” It reminds me of a Russian soldier, forced to leave his home and family and fight Ukraine, a war he doesn’t want to fight.

    Mo. Pletnev greatly played this piece as a bis right last week at the Bergamo piano festival: 40 years after this recording

    Thank you for uploading this recording. I love young Pletnev's playing so much. I started following his carrier in 2004, and admire him. Now he is still outstanding but more on philosophic and a bit sad and tragic side. Here he was full of passion still with all his music life lies ahead and it's pleasure to listen

    THE LARK
    A música The Lark, de Glinka, diz: invisível
    É o cantor em campo onde canta tão alto
    Acima de sua companheira, a sensível
    Cotovia sonora, vai entender num salto.
    O vento carregando a música, carrega
    O amor está presente nos casais redivivos. (*)
    (*) FERNANDO PINHEIRO, presidente da Academia de Letras dos Funcionários do Banco do Brasil. - THE LARK (poesia), de Fernando Pinheiro. - in O mundo de Morfeu, de Fernando Pinheiro.

    Perfect touch and beautiful interpretation. Pletnev makes Kissin sound like an amateur. He brings out the melody with sensitivity and just the right amount of rubato. The opening bars were sublime.

    • @wanchunsong7077
      @wanchunsong7077 3 года назад

      Totally agree! He played this piece with exceptional sensitivity and a riot of colors. He also brought out the hidden melodic baseline on the left side. His performance is way more mature than Kissin.

    • @maulcs

      Disagree entirely, Pletnev's is rushed and rather sloppy

    • @andresguillermoalvarezlope418
      @andresguillermoalvarezlope418 Год назад +1

      Only if you miss all the awkward false notes he spread all around the piece in hard parts... which kissin don't do

    Lovely, but for me, he takes too many liberties with the printed manuscript. Lots of modifications. No need to gild the lily!

    • @jacquieviegas7441
      @jacquieviegas7441 5 лет назад +11

      Completely agree, for me this was overly-interpreted which ruined the flow of the piece

    • @darrinsiberia
      @darrinsiberia 4 года назад +3

      @@jacquieviegas7441 Let's see you learn the piece and perform it 100's of times 100's of concert venues. Would you want to play it the same every single time? Maybe he's just bored. Maybe he's played his heart out 100's of times the same way over and over. It happens. It's called life.

    • @lucasrojers336

      @@michaelquintin3886 I think he means the notes that were added in. He is playing it differently than the sheet music in quite a few parts
