I've been looking forward to this one all week and made a point of being in front of my computer at the announced release time. Sorry for Rose that she missed Kuelap. I know the Peruvian government continues to invest a lot of money trying to draw tourists to sites other than Machu Pichu. As I said, when I was there in '17 the cable car had been in operation less than a month and at the end of the day the attendant told me they'd had a sum total of 25 visitors that day. The museum in Lemebamba is another world class gem hidden away and without the crowds. Great pictures of the mummy bundles. I do seem to recall seeing lots of signage about photography being prohibited though. 'Nuff said, hehehehe. Hope your foot gets better. I was wondering if it developed arthritis actually, that's why I asked. And I did spit coffee take when Ecuadorian Immigration told you processing into the country would be delayed by the system being down. I sat in that same waiting room and was told the same thing once. After sitting there 5 hrs it was time for the office to close and the lone officer to go home. So he made some notation (his initials?) in my passport and sent me on my way. Several weeks later I had a heck of a time trying to get out of the country when aside from some scribble in my passport there was no evidence that I was even legally there in the first place. You gotta love adventure travel in South America
Ha ha... everyone who passes through La Balsa seems to have a story - too funny! We ended up having some issues leaving the country as well, but those were our fault! 😂 No flash photography, but regular photos are OK. We were trying to get into the clean room, but no go...
Superb once again I hope Chad's foot has healed or at least improving? Smiled at Chad .....taking this weirdo to ...more mummies / dead bodies ...Aye she has issues....lol Some of those roads and THE DROPS ... one would need a BIG crane to recover a bike ...should the worst happen Take care ...and thanks for taking us with you Happy New Year when it comes !!!
It's only today I managed to see the video... Happy new year Chad and Rose!!! 💯💪 Wishes for good health and open roads... Or paths, whatever... 😋 First of all hope Chad's foot is better... Second I believe you are overpass this border... 😁 "See" you tomorrow guys 🤘😆 PS. we like Chad starring 😁😁
Happy new year to you both. Blimey Chad I hope your foot is going to be ok …. It must make riding the bike that but more difficult. You’re both still turning out fantastic videos though which I find really entertaining and I look forward to each new release. Long May you both continue.
Oh, my favorite scene at 10:25. I did that for a living. fighting them and burning landowners property in south florida forestry service for 21 years. I loved it and miss it. 😞 Well, that was strange way to end a video. Why didn't itchy boots have problems going through any borders all over the world and she went through every place you guys went through and more. I still can't believe you 2 ride double up. can't believe you had families of 3 and 4 and 5 up on a bike. unbelievable. Not on my honda goldwing 1500. 🤣 The luggage does not come off. Thanks for another very interesting and informative video. Yes, I guess she is like Anthony Bourdain how she Narrates your story. 🥰 or was that meant for..."no reservations"??? 😁
Small world - Chad was a wildcard firefighter back in the mid-late 90s. He worked with both USFS and CDF! 🔥 We rarely get trapped at borders, but if you read some of the comments below, we're not the ONLY ones to get trapped at that border in particular. And, for the record, Itchy hasn't ridden or seen 10% of what we have through South America. 😅
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Just found this comment from 2 weeks ago.......Really!! youtube is horrible. I just bring up noraly in passing as I stopped watching her after halfway through season 5 and all the lies she was telling and making things up about getting wine out of a cabbage palm tree. that was really hilarious. and then the lion that was stalking her and the elephants that were stampeding her. and it was all clickbait lies and when you confront her she blocks your comments forever. 🙄

again a treat and dejavu....I think we crossed at La balsa maybe 10 years ago and when we were getting stamped out in Quito they had never heard of that border crossing and were deeply suspicious .... I showed them pictures of the border etc. and they finally stamped us out after a half an hour of pondering. Hope your foot fixes itself. And watch out for the bird poop trick.
Bird poop? Is that another way for the pickpockets to distract you while they help clean you up?? Too funny about La Balsa... everyone has a story about that crossing! 😂
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets it actually happened to us it was so strange and silly I was temporarily deaked but my partner called B.S. immediately. Museums of the macabre & cool remote border crossings, textbook R&C pit stops. Hope that foot mystery gets solved, dude. Stories like that are concerning given my experience with friends diagnosed with the incurable death sentence of ALS.
Heys guys, yes that part sucks big time, while smaller probably do not have the high tech equipment capabilities as a bigger crossing, you know you could have Rose glaring into the camera would have been nice, but a guy does what a guy does, as always enjoy the hell out of your travels, continue to seek Eldorado, I’ll be waiting. Also consider it may be a transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a short period of symptoms similar to those of a stroke. It's caused by a brief blockage of blood flow to the brain. This may correlate to part body paralysis which recovers but can indicative of a second hit unless lifestyle changes take place.
I joined a local car club here already just want to get my hands dirty and be part of the scene. It’s all about the passion. Plus, everyone starts somewhere
Thank God it's his brake foot. Easy enough to pick your leg up and use your heel of the boot to hit the brake pedal. but still, not good. Does he need to fly back to californication and have surgery or what? that would be so unnerving so far away from any decent medical attention.
find some good massage therapist specializing in trigger points. It's common after some injury to develop so called trigger point which can cause numbness, tingling etc Maybe it will help.
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets In South America, Hansen disease is endemic, specially Brasil, Bolivia and Peru. Since you`re travelling many months this region, I think it`s advisable to ask a medical doctor about this possibility.
Hahaha. The Pan-American joke is good. I think Peru has the most amazing roads and places. But, still Peru has some frustrations and such for travel, that annoyed me. For me Colombia is still #1 for the whole package.
Honestly, it's those frustrations that make me love Peru and Bolivia that much more. South America is much more developed and tame than it was when I started exploring the continent 20 years ago. Peru & Bolivia still have those rough edges that make you feel "out there"...

Hi travellers.....chad, your right foot is not working, i have one option, buy a scooter !....imigration system was not working too in 2016 when i passed in la balsa....have a nice 2025....
Sorry to hear about the foot issue. Any lower back pain history ? might be a herniated disc that's pinching the spinal nerve that controls your foot old boy. A neurologist and an MRI scan (easily done in any South America capital) will help better diagnosis... Happy new 2025 and we all love your content guys !

Nerve damage

It,s called drop foot, due to a neurological, not osseous disorder. Take care, depending on the cause, it can be progressive.
You're correct. Slap foot is similar, but different.
