Hey Heiko, try using a drop shot rig, you can use heavier weights and keep you bait in one spot alot longer, maybe not using a jig, but texas rigging your bait if big enough or using hook point exposed on smaller baits.
Try chartreuse, cappie and trout go nuts for that color. Crappie jigs was my choice for all around artificial bait I carried when I was an over the road trucker and high vis chartreuse metal flake caught all species of fish that and grub white. Salt and fresh water.
You need one of those 12 or 13 foot crappie rods or a noodle rod (used for steelhead), that way you have the same amount of line sitting at the end of it and you can just flick it under the mangroves with a side cast
10 lb braid will cast way better as would a lighter action rod, they also make casting bubbles that increase casing distance and set depth like a bobber
great vid. i'm a crappie guy up north. You need to use a smaller reel and lighter action rod if you're casting a small crappie jig. That rig your using is way to big. I also suggest 6lb line. . Another thing we do with small jigs..is put a small reel on a very long light weight rod (10-15 FT long). keeping your boat back 15 feet..let out 10-15 ft of line and pendulum the small bait to the fish. Hold it steady vertically in front of them. When they bite lift them up and out. Love the content dude. I go to the keys every Jan and Feb. its awesome. Seems like everyone knows you down there.
Heiko, just a thought… you should put a small sinker just above that jig head and get some shad or shrimp or mullet fish attractant and put it on that artificial Shad. V/r Pitch
Ooh! Just thought of it at the end of your video, try a dropshot rig. That way you can put as heavy of a weight as you need to cast but the hook and plastic bait can be super tiny
Doesn't Flouro have less memory and would cast a little farther? I know they sponsor you but there are some reels probably smoother for that type of fishing.
Just questioning your choice of watercraft at the end. Wouldn't you have had as much manueverabily in tight spaces with your 16 ft inflatable? AND, when/if you needed to make a run to home the Honda 9.9 would have surely helped. IN THRUST WE TRUST! Top Gun, The Movie.
Another great video!!! Sorry I almost got you "un-alived"!!! Guess that is the last time you take my recommendation for content!!!! I owe you a drink next time!!!!
Sorry, I have to chuckle at your misfortunes. Very mean of me, but you're funny! Best thing to do is go with a 4 pound rod and reel setup. Crappie jigs will cast like a dream! You can handle a pretty good sized fish with it. Thanks for you being you.
I have used those Bobby garlands at Lake of the Ozarks for years. A great combo here is a 1/8 for deeper water and 1/16 for slower fall and fish that might want a slower presentation. I have always thought you should learn a technique we call dock shooting to get back in those mangroves. Give me a call and I can give you a personal lesson lol!!! Or go to RUclips and look for dock shooting at LOZ! Fish on

Superglue works for keeping the jig to the jughead.
WE ALWAYS PUT LITTLE DOT OF SUPERGLUE ON WORMS AND SWIM BAITS BEFORE PUSH IT ON HIEKO!!!👌👍😎🤘🤙

You're awesome Heiko You risk your life for our entertainment
Beetle spin
Love the vids and love the energy to every time you are fishing. Reminds me of myself
You could take the sea eagle and a trolling motor next time.
You need one of those 12 or 13 foot crappie rods or a noodle rod (used for steelhead), that way you have the same amount of line sitting at the end of it and you can just flick it under the mangroves with a side cast
thanks for posting this inshore content!!!!!! love it mane
10 lb braid will cast way better as would a lighter action rod, they also make casting bubbles that increase casing distance and set depth like a bobber
Awesome video man!! Drop the line down to 4lb mono on the ultra lite.
try a few cheap temu shiney spo ons, the 1s that loo k like mini verticle jigs.
nice video Heiko, to bad the wheather was not that good better luck next time, Keep up the good work!
lighter line or a casting float
the tiny curly tail gulps work great you get a bunch from one pack too
Try those on yellowtail snapper
Get a jig head with a barb on the shank!
Dude ur living the life we wish we could, kids makes the difference!.👊🏿😭🇯🇲
Great video. You make my day
You forgot your pliers and rag. Add a split shot to cast farther. Also 10# line is properly to thick for smaller fish, Finnish your fish if necessary.
YOOOOOO!!!! use some Procure or DrJuice for some scent on that lure!!!
Try a river rig with two jig heads. One on a 3-ft line and one on a 4-ft line catch two fish at a time. Be a lot easier to cast with more weight

It’s hard to hear lightning ⚡️ or see thunder 😂. You’re so funny Heiko, that’s why I love to watch you!!😊
Maybe try lighter line, like 4lbs, and an ultra light rod. Should cast much better and more fun playing those small fish. Cool video. Weiter so!
Great video Heiko , thank God you got home before you got lit up lol .
Try a lighter test with the lighter rig, easier to cast 😉
Heiko, just a thought… you should put a small sinker just above that jig head and get some shad or shrimp or mullet fish attractant and put it on that artificial Shad. V/r Pitch
I would’ve loved to seen you hook, even a small tarpon on that rig😉
Just go with a lighter line 👍👍🇺🇲
Enjoyed the mangrove adventure.
I would attach a small bobber to your setup. It would give it a little more weight so you could cast farther.
You should try Crappie Magnet
got to use 4 lb test with at least an 8' light action rod
Try some 1/8th oz jig head also some “2”inch voodoo shrimp 🦐 get the procure gel in shrimp 😉
I wonder if walleye jigs would work in the mangroves they are a little more weight
Ooh! Just thought of it at the end of your video, try a dropshot rig. That way you can put as heavy of a weight as you need to cast but the hook and plastic bait can be super tiny
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
you need a fishing rod that matches the weight of the jig
Doesn't Flouro have less memory and would cast a little farther? I know they sponsor you but there are some reels probably smoother for that type of fishing.
Pro tip, add a tiny bit of super glue to the jig head and it'll stay longer. Then you just have to worry about the tails gettin bit off 😂
Look up a technique "shooting docks". That will possibly help you get lighter lures under mangroves.
Hey Heiko- a drop of super glue on the base of the jighead will keep that plastic stuck to it so you don't have to keep readjusting it.
Jay Linesider uses his rod to paddle his paddle board sometimes and he’s a professional as far as I can tell so I think you’re good
Try a small cork and let the court Jean your lure back you don't know what happened there and just jig it back slow
Try 2” Gulp shrimp on 1/16oz jigheads. I know most places usually only carry 3” Gulp in stock but you can probably order them online.
bro got growths on his eyes, and under arms.. poor guy having a bad time lol
The reason you can’t cast far is the Mono , go to 10 # braid.
@@redfishross I’ll try that tomorrow thanks!
🤙

Fish On! Straight out of the gate…
🎉
Fish them under neath a tiny cork just like crappie, youll kill em
great video man
Bump to a 1/16 oz jighead. Still plenty light for shallow water but will cast way better
Another great video!!! Sorry I almost got you "un-alived"!!! Guess that is the last time you take my recommendation for content!!!! I owe you a drink next time!!!!
Look for a gulp version of those little jerk shads. Been killing reds and trout in the lights right now.
Would a small lead split shot weight be a possibility to add weight to make those lightweight lures easier to cast?
can you eat the maanoes off the trees

You should buy a personal hovercraft
I'd use the same jig just with an 1/8 oz jig head
Cool info
Maybe a splitshot or 2 aswell so then you can actually cast
But you didn't catch anything so how good is that😅
Small lures are hard to fish but you tried !!!!

Dude..... Rock on! (Not Dans style..)
watch richard gene
You need waders and a flycasting rig.
😀😀👍👍💗💗

Hi girl, you already use the small small speargun and do the mangoes for whatever is in there I think that would be a better show
Downgrade to 4lb test next time. Itll cast better.
Try to kill it not to produce eggs
Why are you not taking your big boat out??? I don't get it. You live in the Keys and fishing off a paddle board. The big ones are offshore.
He didn't want to, lol
So many ways to enjoy fishing. Some don’t cost 50 bucks to just get to the dock with bait…
I miss the rolling thunder of sofla
