You know what would be awesome? If you made the chess pieces as planets.
For Example:
Star as King (Sun)
Gas Giants as Queens (Jupiter & Neptune)
Ringed Planets as Bishops (Saturn & Uranus)
Rocky Planets as Knights (Earth & Venus)
Small Planets as Rooks (Mercury & Mars)
Asteroids as Pawns
Then, do exoplanets of the same quality for the opposite side.

I would add a defuser over the led strip to give it a softer glow. I think the bright leds attract too much intension away from the broad.

The craftsmanship is wonderful. Terrific job. Just one comment. The board is setup wrong. The double corner is on the right. That way the Queens will be on the correct square (their own color).

I think this is awesome. Only thought would be to do the squares in a rough stone to be meteorites or comets but the epoxy, planets and lights are amazing. Great job and skill.

Nice Board!! I have to make a Suggestion about using that Red clamps. 15:07 The Metal rod goes into the holes of that square and you tighten them from the outside. Thats why there are holes in the square. Just saying.

Yeah I caught that too! Dudes definitely at risk of messing up the wood, having a metal rod pushing into it. Seems pretty self-explanatory...
Idk if those are woodpecker jigs, (I know there's plenty of cheap imitations of their products)- but if those are, you should know how to use the stuff properly when it's that expensive.

Beautiful job. Just for general knowledge. To set pieces correctly, White (clear color) square must always be to the right hand and Queen color must match square color.

Шахматы просто отлично сделанные, но тут есть одна проблема. Сегодня мало молодых людей, которых интересует подобная игра, а ведь она попросту гениальная и отлично развивает голову. Шахматная доска в исполнении мастера на космическую тему, натолкнула меня на мысль, что неплохо было бы и шахматные фигуры сделать в виде космических кораблей разного ранга. Это позволило бы заинтересовать больше молодых людей. 2 разных космических расы, у них разные корабли, и они ведут космический бой. Это было бы гораздо интересней для молодых людей.

Looks nice. Would there some way to add a diffuser(?) for the lights to hide the individual LEDs?

yeah he easily could have glued on a diffuser over the led's or under the base of the glass. Also many led's strips can be under volted to lower their brightness. He clearly isn't familiar with what he had made lol you can tell by the way he pours the resin. Still turned out pretty nice but I would've made the wood show through as apposed to burying it in resin to give some texture to the surface. He also could've made the galaxy swirl a lot better in my opinion, layering resin and creating depth can go a long way to make something really simple look amazing

Fantastica.
The only problem i see, is that the black pieces are too similar to the black squares on the keyboard, while the white pieces are very different than wooden "white" squares. This may be confusing during the game, at least if ones play without leds. For me, pieces should be both different, or both similar to their related colour on the chessboard

The board is set up wrong.
Assuming the epoxy squares were intended to be the light colored squares, the board must first be rotated 90 degrees and then the pieces placed, observing the rule that the queen takes her own color.
If on the other hand the oak squares were intended to be the light colored squares, then the kings and the queens need to exchange positions and everything is right.
But it sure is a good looking chess set.

I love the build up right to the part where you use wooden blocks for the white spaces, it would have been better if you would have made white cloudy but still transparent epoxy cubes instead of using wood blocks, but great build all in all…
