    I appreciate that you don't want to go too realistic and that introducing those blues and yellows can be quite intimidating.
    My recommendation is to apply your base layer. Then what I do is at a very thin wash of blue using a large brush over the entire model. Then red. Finally yellow. This is a good time to run a little red ink through the airbrush at low pressure to give you some spotting.
    Now adding your highlights will tone all of that down but still leaves some of that visual interest to the skin tone and you lend up being able to control just how much skin texture you want.

      Thanks for your comment. However I do not paint realistically. I do not want to paint realistically and my clients hired me based on my style of painting so would be a bit crazy to suddenly change the style as soon as the booked a model to be made. Also this video is like 3 years old dude. I’ve done videos covering every single technique for painting skin tones since then. Still don’t like the wash method though

    Ive airbrushed off and on for the last year and I can say what matters is the quality of paint because it affects how well you can thin the paint.
    Thinning the paint is what turned me off to airbrushing.
    Spiderwebbing can be dealt with easily by maintaining a certain distance from the model while spraying.
    As long as the paint doesnt run or pool, you are on the right track. Great video.

    Great video bud :-) I an still pretty new to airbrushing but I keep my paints pretty thin but I think Il go even thinner with them :-) I am still really careful with it as I am new ha but I do keep my paints very thin when I use a brush, It takes longer but the effect is worth it even with a brush :-)

    super helpful as always man. just curious what size nib you are using for this stuff and what you set your psi to. i know its different per brush etc but just to get a ballpark figure of how low you go :)

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 года назад +1

      I use .05 I’m pretty sure for almost everything if I were to do miniatures I’d go smaller and I use around 15-25psi go up and down according to how to paints behaving etc.

  • @rebeltaz123
    @rebeltaz123 2 года назад +1

    One more question... when you thin your paints down that much, do you not find that there is an adhesion issue? When I thin my paints too thin - and that is WAY less than your thin - the paints tend to flake off much easier!

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 года назад

      Never had any flaking issues at all. And I thin them down to nearly water make sure to seal them in if you are using thin layers.

      @@Groundeffected Ahh..ive seen that one. Great vid. But I'm curious about when painting large areas of skin, cuz so far for me that's been the most challenging part while only having access to brushes. It just doesn't come out silky smooth, there are areas that have this chalky texture...idk if the problem is my brush or my paint >_
