Thank you for your review - I have just unpacked my sidestick which has just been delivered whilst watching you! Time to get installing - will look forward to your review of the new quadrant when you get it! Cheers
7:55 now known as a Harrison Ford landing
Didn't he land on the taxiway?
@@MRFREAK177 Yes, but the joke is that he flew directly over a 737, almost colliding.
@@Rocco-tb9ih 737 should have waited I guess
Getting a page not found on all 3 links Pete. Love the review, the price point is tempting!
This is the most exciting thing I have seen in flight sim for years. I built an A320 cockpit a few years ago. Now I want to do it again. The prices are amazing on this stuff too....
I hope Thrustmaster will use the Airbus license to make a premium Airbus addon grip for the Warthog. I mean if Thrustmaster launched a F/A-18 addon grip just for one particular addon for DCS, then there's got to be a market for premium Airbus sidesticks.
Avantime Oh God This! Didn’t think of that but it would be amazing.
If you want premium quality, why ask Thrustmaster ? Edit : I mean, they build ‘ok’ products, but there are a lot of QC problems if you ask warthog owners.
@@fabiena1787 Because they have the licence, and because their grip would fit on a VirPil base.
@@rastas3742 you’re right. Their sticks are good, so that makes sense on another base. I’m looking towards Virpil products myself, but they aren’t easy to purchase. Let’s hope that TM will rethink their base soon.
Check that video out, that company is already making one (project a320)
Always great to see more peripherals coming out, these are going to be *very* popular with MSFS 2020 now out and bringing in new blood to the FS genre. Heck I could be tempted to get the throttle quadrant myself and I already have a Warthog. Would be nice to see Thrustmaster bring out a flight Yoke too for the lighter aircraft/boeings.
just Pre-ordered the " TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition " im going to be a new player to the Flight sim community, thank you for the video :)
djacid welcome
This stick looks so 90s. Love it :)
7:55 - Alaskan airlines captain getting a phone number from the tower...
Or Froogle was landing without clearance
Thottle quadrant and the throttle add-on bits look promising.
The stick looks like a good modification to the t16000 and the t16000m. It was a good budget option for combat sticks and now has a bit of a different feel for the civilian market.
I just believe an 90's TV--Shop commercial, when i see this! :D
Very useful review, thank you!
Great! I've been flying left stick simulating both an airbus and the left side of a yoke since forever (1980s). I love my T16000. I see they removed the two top stick side buttons that I use for trim, but the airbus stick doesn't have that. Thanks for the video.
Awesome news! Thank you for your thoughts!
preordered the throttle quad. Looks awesome!
ya me 2, just wish they had the 2 addons for it ready, gonna use this also for star citizen
If you want the detent in the throttle. Pull the slider off by pulling straight up and flip it round the right way. They seem to have fitted them all backwards.
I recommend you try the stick left-handed. As a right-hander myself, it doesn't feel as odd as you might think - esp. in X-Plane VR. I just use my wrist with the occulus rift controller and it works quite well.
Absolute beauty but probably gonna stick with the Honeycomb. Great video froogle!
Why would you? I have been waiting for an affordable decent sidestick for my Airbus fleet for ages. Time to move away from the yoke whenever I fly these.
@@Quotenwagnerianer I guess some people still want to realise their investment in the equipment the have.
@@davidpalmer9780 I was not suggesting switching out hardware for good.
Use the sidestick whenever appropriate and the yoke for the rest of the aircraft.
Interesting joystick at a reasonable price. I'd just have to consider whether it will do better than my utterly ancient Saitek AV8R-01 stick, which I've made work perfectly for me in FSX. As for using the twist as the tiller while taxiing, the Saitek did that right off the bat. The real button programming came with making the various switches do what I wanted, and turning buttons on the controller to the matter of handling a variety of frequently used functions like horizontal stabilizer trim.
Your initial setup was for the port side stick. Did you try flying with left hand? Right hand for future throttle quadrant?
I've have a Speedlink Phantom floating around that I've had for, well, years now - long been looking for a replacement for it. I don't have the space for a HOTAS, and to be honest I don't find them super comfortable (the *massive* throttle handles are the worst part of this) and I use sticks as much for flying in stuff like battlefield and Star Citizen (if not more so) as I do in Flight Sim/X-Plane etc - and when I'm done I like to be able to just unplug it and throw it out the way. This looks like a nice candidate - though I see two fairly major issues for my purposes, firstly I don't like the throttle position, needs to be over the left somewhere for ergonomics, flying helis in BF/Arma et al and stuff in star citizen you'd be using it much more than in FS (hand never leaves it in the former) so it needs more ergonomic positioning - it's similarly unfortunately positioned on the 1600M.The other annoyance and this is a harder one to solve because of the licensing - it doesn't have a dpad in addition to the hat. That last one makes me berry sad. Fingers on my right hand aren't doing anything, gib me more buttons to push :(
Otherwise it's a really nice stick and I'd buy it in a second if all I did was simming - but I don't only do that and it feels like the companies still making sticks are completely overlooking a large chunk of the market.
Nice review, What sensor does it have for the Twist Axis? Hopefully not putting the same sensor as the T16000
Never thought of the tiller option until I saw you had landed, then you made it 'click' lol. Ordered the stick, going to wait though on the throttle as I want the Honeycomb throttle, even though its more expensive.
Preordered the officer pack, hopefully it will ship just in time for MFS2020
Thrustmaster have invented the joystick! (The Throttle Quadrant could be interesting though)
9:20 Hi Froogle, I see the big dark spot moving over the ground, it is an error that is still present in 11.50 b10, update to 11.50 b11 and it is gone!
How do you think this would work with DCS??? My yoke just died and looking for something to replace it that I could use for both xplane and DCS.
Looks interesting, and I’m pleasantly surprised by the pricing!
7:55 almost colliding with the alaska 737
Practicing his ' Harrison Ford ' landing.
That's why you read back hold short instructions.
Ugly as hell. Pass.I couldnt see any movement of that joystick making any difference to what we were watching on the screen. Are you sure it was plugged in ?
@@regwatson2017 Agreed... it didn't appear to be sync'd very well with the visuals.
the t16000m has been ambidextrous for years. one of if not the only joystick i know of before this
Frooglesim, I have the t16000m joystick and I get drift on the pitch. Any advice? My stick is 3 years old now and very frustrating
Just bought it on the ms store! will be here the 17th. I ordered it at 4pm my time, and its already shipped. Does it connect to USBizzle?
I used to have a Logitech 3D (silver / black). Star citizen sees my thrust negatively. So when I push forward thrust reduces and when I pull it down thrust goes to full. I've checked inversion under controller but I can't find the settings. Does this work in star citizen ? can you do a review of the mapping for star citizen, cos i bought this joystick for both sc and MS flight simulator.
I just got my TCA sidestick. The throttle detent is almost non-existent out of the box. I had to 3M tape/wedge a piece of foam between the throttle knob and the detent spacer. Kinda silly that they didn't really check this before production, but it's an easy fix. Compared to my old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, I miss the additional buttons on the top of the stick, and the TCA's base feels lighter and can move if you move the stick toward the end of the travel range. Idk. Mixed feelings. It looks nice and the sensors feel far more accurate than my old Logi stick. However, it's not a massive upgrade, a slight improvement in some areas with sacrifice in others. The throttle is still far better on the Logitech stick.
How long before the twist axis flakes out just like a T.16000?
I mentioned this same thing in another video...no answer yet!
its got different sensors thank god my T.16000m rudder has just got bust today after i took it apart 2 weeks ago to clean the sensor
@Mournstar shop.thrustmaster.com/en_gb/tca-officer-pack-airbus-edition.html
"This contactless magnetic sensor technology, with no potentiometers, gives both devices an unlimited lifespan".
Mournstar Yeah, haven’t forgotten my Saitek Yoke experience never again! How are you finding your Gladiator K from VKB? I note that they are made in China and only have a 1 year warranty!
Jimmy De'Souza Thanks, will check it out!!
Can you help please? I want to use the joystick with my right hand. So I set the switch on the bottom to 'Right Handed'. Now should the red button be on the left or right side of the stick? And should this then show in FS as PILOT? thanks.
"we have a proper, ambidextrous switchable joystick for use in flight simulation"
T.16000m: Excuse me? I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that
The launch announcement says the following:
TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition key selling points:
...
4- Contactless magnetic sensor technology, with no potentiometers, for an unlimited lifespan and optimal precision.
The Officer Pack includes the joystick so this would suggest that _all_ of the joystick axes have magnetic sensors unlike the regular T16000M which only has them on the pitch and roll axes. Can you confirm whether this is the case?
How are you only now figuring twist=Tiller??? Been doing that with T16000M for years.
That clamp is very interesting, i hope it is priced right! There's nothing more ackward than using joystick from a regular table level. I hope that clamp goes with T16000 too
Lazengogh it does. Looks like it be around 65 bucks or so. Available late September.
I know you can twist for vertical axis, but can you hook pedals up instead?
Could I connect a third party throttle such as saitek to this side stick?
I hope the modular buttons will be expanded to have more buttons
It's a good thing for the community to get their hands on and is an excellent price point for newcomers. The only thing that is slightly concerning for me is the build quality of the stick. The two pieces of plastic stuck together to form a seam down the middle looks very cheap. In fact, the whole thing looks like it has been freshly 3-D printed with flimsy buttons and slider. Why they couldn't utilise similar quality like the Warthog is a mistake. I would be happy to pay a little extra for more quality on the stick, but not at the Warthog price point. This doesn't look like a stick for heavy usage. It's quite off-putting and I am gutted about that.
I just hope it doesn’t come to Brazil costing 1000% more than it costs in the US or in Europe like other simulation hardware do... Looking forward to it!
2:30.. WAAAAAAAAT ! literally just brought one, thought id come learn about it, naturally a lefty but fly right, thinking this is going to be a nice change, boom. How coool is this???
Did you not learn anything about what you bought? 😂😂
Just brought this for amazing price on prime day sale
Hi thanks for video, with me throttle on joystick makes no click when touch down, I do not know what I'm doing wrong or my joystick faulty, i speak only german sry my bad english.
great stuff a rubber gaiter would of been nice to make it look the bizz
Just curious how long is the USB cord? My cpu is on the right side
Do you think it's worth it to get this to replace the Thrustmaster T Hotas?
"Ambidextrous joystick is a godsend" Well, the T.16000M, which this is based on, is also ambidextrous. The top of the stick is symmetric, the thumb rest can be moved left or right, and there's a switch on the bottom to change the buttons around. It's been around for years now. It's not like you've been that starved for having one, this is basically the same stick with a license and less accessible buttons.
Isn't that stick just a T16000m in grey? Not sure I like this.
Base looks similar, completely different stick though.
Pretty much. Loses a button too. TM16000 with a new paint job pretty much.
Nate Whinnery pretty much, much?
had a t1600m .. flow, it 8 times orso... left it in the clouset... got it out after half a year, wasnt able to get it to center properly ...
switched to x56 logitech... never had any isues after breaks.... imo trustmaster has good stuff.. but def no joysticks
can u use this flight joystick for farming simulator 2019?
The T16000 is already ambidextrous. This is just another skin on the same old device. You’re honest enough in saying that this video is sponsored...
I was expecting the stick to be around 200 and throttles at least 150. btw how does the feel compare to x56?
Same question. I have the x56 also
I would have added the rubber boot between stick and base
Thanks for the video. I just got the news from Avsim forum. Are there detents for CLB, TOGA on the throttle?
According to the TM website, yes there are detents. This is the seller for me.
Oh, and detents can be enabled/disabled so you can use the quadrant for any aircraft.
@@listerlives1 thanks for the reply. I was referring to the physical detents (since the course is a bit short).
Yes that’s what I meant. It has physical detents. There’s a mechanism to release them for smooth travel for use with other planes. I read it on their website advertisement at least.
@@listerlives1 holy cow!! Thanks for this info!! I was reluctant on purchasing since I fly other aircraft too, and the detents were only useful for the airbus. But if they can be released, that's awesome!
Pete, I just tried to purchase the whole set but in creating an account, my only choice for country if residence is the UK??? Talk to them
you are probably on the uk website, I wouldn't bother ordering one yet though as I pre ordered on day 1 and I still haven't received it. they probably had way more orders than they thought and it could be months until any normal person gets one. I am very disappointed with thrustmaster
The Sidestick with the red button on the right is the Sidestick of the pilot. So you find it in the plane on the left. The red button turns off the autopilot. 😉
Take my Money!
So... magnets, no centre spring?
I hate the single centre springs they feel revolting when you slowly move the stick and the spring tension breaks into movement 🤢
Do you think this will suffer the same z-axis failures that the t16000m's do?
I have 2 t16k's and after less than 2 months I had to open them up and fix the z axis potentiometer by cleaning and re-lubricating the part. Its an issue so much that there are numerous reports about it and even some really good write-ups on reddit r/hotas on how to fix it. Just look up z axis phantom input or drift or something along those lines.
The stick has a z-axis blocker that can be enabled and disabled.
Should this be pressure sensitive for a fly by wire control system?
Not all FBW (in fact most don’t) use Force sensing controls. For example the 777,all airbus after 310, f18. But if you want a Force sensing base check out the FSSB by realsimulator
When is it available for Australian release I can't get it just yet.
jbhifi has them for sale no i think the price is $140 aussie dollars
who else pre ordered on day 1 with fast delivery and has still has not received it. i am starting to wonder if i will get this stick at all.
shipping June 25th my arse. its the third of July and mine still has not shipped even with a day 1 pre order with priority delivery.
Update: still no Airbus stick. Thrustmaster have kept my money but now say I can’t get it until September.
none of the links are working? anyone has access?
Froogle how are you are you back you’re in England where are you nice to see you wish you all the luck
is this stick will work on xbox series X?
7:55 FO: go around sir? CA: Hell no..
Left handed stick?
Time to get the normal right hand mouse out yay.
I think the last ambidextrous stick available was the 2004 era Cyborg Evo (discontinued in 2008)
Actually, our T.16000m has a similar ambidextrous design and that's much more recent :P
actually the t1600M (which I own btw) is ambidextrous as well, I'm using it left-handed in fact.
Virpil’s constellation delta is also ambidextrous

T16000 is ambidextrous as well.
I wonder how this will compare to the Thrustmaster Warthog Joystick. 🤔
probably very alike, just like the planes it is for, A310 and A10 is basically the same plane...only 1 number difference
@@canidule There are more A10s in war zones than there are A310
This is nowhere near a Warthog. This is nothing more than a T.16000M variant.

Does the joystick get autodetected by msfs 2020?
Yes
That trigger should be for cannon control for airliner's determined to taxi onto an active runway already busy with the Frooglesim Airliner on full stop landing...or Harrison Ford was taxiing it...sorry HF.
Links are dead :(
Great review. I can't help but feel Thrustmaster would have been better off selling this as a generic side stick for use in both modern GA aircraft and Airliners. I probably would have grabbed one myself if it wasn't for all the 'airbus' badges and colours.
They already have that. The T16000m it’s also ambidextrous and has a grip with more buttons. I have been using it for left handed flight for years. It was one of the best kept secrets at about $50
@@willhartsell2283 Oooh thanks I'll have a look. Although I'm tempted by the new Gladiator.
VR Flight Sim Guy new gladiator? All I see is their old mk2. For right handed generic stick I use the virpil constellation Alpha (among others)
what about when flying boeing, how do I trim? My old joystick had 2 bottons near the thumb, perfect for trimming
And this is a HUGE oversight on Thrustmaster's part. The real Airbus sidestick has trim control, so why remove it from the sim version? It's essential for us sim pilots. For this reason alone I'll stick with my X52 Pro. I was nearly tempted until you pointed out no trim control 😱🤦♂️They could save the day and make a modular trim switch to replace the black button. Hmm? 🤔
" No Boeing for you!!"
Why not use the hat for trim?
@@willhartsell2283 That is for looking around the cockpit. The mouse's primary purpose is to zoom in and out, to turn knobs and dials, and to press buttons. Not for looking around. I want to be able to have both hands on the joystick, and throttle, and be able to scan my environment with the hat.
@@MrBillUp i either use VR or TIR..and the hat for trim as it should be ;)
Logistic 3D pro is pretty much the same thing!
Anyone would think we are on the Dawn of a major new flight sim being launched with all these new peripherals being launched......
Trustmaster is asking for the new Airbus type stick USD110.24 + 33.12 shipping thru Amazon, that is almost eur128. Forget 69.99, I don't know where did you get that price (08:29).!!! jejeje
Wrong! the Z axis DOES NOT use HAL sensor and will wear out quickly.
The other reason they went with airbus, is because Boeing tends to use yolk, rather than sticks.
So, it's a rebranded T16000?
its a 1600 with blue paint slapped on it.
lol, if your T16000 losing momentum because quality is not great, let's redo it somewhat and sell again.
No... get it licensed by Airbus. He said it so many times during the video.
You can get the "new edition" for 160 € or get the 1600m HOTAS for 120 €, granted you lose one throttle axis there but come on Thrustmaster, put in some effort.
I just want a cheap FCU for my airbus sim
Yes, but is it licensed from Airbus?? :) Thanks for the video, not much of a civilian buff, but it was interesting!
He was paid a bonus every time he said it. :)
The stick feels good like a real Airbus joystick. That's about it. The inaccurate throttle and the location of keys arent exactly useful.
Not big on civil aviation but it seems that they use yokes, not joy sticks, maybe they are now switching away from yokes.
