Nice to finally see a little West Asian rep aswell! I'm Iranian and West-Asia seriously always gets thrown out, and whenever I say I am technically Asian as the Middle East is not a continent, people say I "don't look Asian". I even had a guy from the Maldives argue with me that I'm not a "True asian" cause I don't have monolid eyes, and when I told him he also doesn't and he is Asian, he started arguing that he HIMSELF isn't Asian cause he has brown skin? It's honestly so weird how no other continents have this same issue, but with Asia a lot of people act like a lot of Asian's aren't "True Asians". My mother also prefers to call herself Asian or just Iranian instead of middle eastern as it's not a continent, and honestly I agree. Sadly tho everytime I try it I get shut down lmao. Love the video, and also really loved the Filipino dresses wow! My favourite was 2:39 tho, but she didn't say where she's from so I have no idea but its GORGEOUS!

For those people who had mistaken the mermaid as a (literal asian mermaid) , that actually represents philippines, if you look at her tail, it has the color of the Philippine flag and the three stars represents Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and i think the sea means the Philippines being an archipelago
@@ShiffonChiffon I say this only in respect and to educate everyone. Filipinos are not Hispanic. Let me explain why. This identity of being hispanic and/or latino is a mix of both culture and ethnicity. First of all being latino hispanic and spanish are alll different identity labels. none of which filipinos can claim. Spanish means you are directly from Spain. Latino refers more to culture and a ethnicity, anywhere in latin america, this includes brazil though it was colonized by the portuguese. they are still latino and have clear evident cultural links and similarities with their neighbours and other countries in latin america. the groups belonging to latin america, if they have spanish colonization and speak spanish in those countries as their primary language are “hispanic”. Remember that hispanic identity has a mix of ethnicities often including: spanish from spain, african, and native american. Sometimes even south asian or east asian or southeast asian, but usually it is the 3 I stated above. By default, knowing all of these facts… Filipinos have no links to any of these definitions. But let me go on, if you still cannot accept the truth. 0.5 percent of the population in phillipines speaks spanish, and a very small percent has significant or even a small amount of spanish blood. And No being 1% spanish does not enable you to claim the title of being “hispanic” or even “spanish”. Now let’s take a look at other colonies of spain and portuguese, that do not claim to be “spanish” “portuguese” or “hispanic”. Goa a place in India, which was colonized by the portuguese for approximately 450 years! That is more than the phillipines under spanish rule for 333 years. Yet Goan celebrities, like Freida Pinto deny any links to being portuguese and when they are mistaken for latino she likes to strongly clarify “I am Indian.” There is also Macau , but they do not claim this either. Let’s look at Sri Lanka, who was colonized by Portugal from 1505-1658. Many many people in srilanka and goa ( along with other places in India) have last names that sound portuguese like fernandez, d’cruz, silva, etc. Yet, they know they are south asian culturally by language and ethnicity, and even though a lot of countries in south asia has been colonized so much by many european countries and there is so much possibility for them being mixed race with french, british, portuguese, dutch, etc. , more than the possiblity of filipinos being mixed. … they know that they will always be south asian because of their geographical location and culture and language and ethnicity. Even if their culture and country has evidently been influenced by colonization. They will never claim any other labels. Unless you have people like Jacqueline Fernandez who’s father is mized, because he actually has one portuguese parent. That is a significant mix. Not just one percent or 2 percent. Moving on to countries in africa and the carribean. Africa is huge and many african countries were once portuguese colonies and spanish colonies a long with british, french, etc. colonies. but if you see someone living in an area where they were colonized , and even if they do speak that language like spanish or french…. they always say I AM AFRICAN or they say the country that they are from’s name. It is never, I am african hispanic or I am african french. Unless of course one parent is actually european spanish or significantly mixed. Let me clarify this still DOES NOT make one hispanic or latino. It makes them half SPANISH. there is a difference. Ok so now lets look at the super mixed carribean culture and identity. Carribean culture is unique in so many aspects, and is usually a huge mix consisting of predominantly african, indian (from asia), and latino cultural and ethnical mixes. This being said, not every carribean person is mixed. A lot of them are not. But culturally yes they are very mixed, while still maintaining their own heritage. Let me give you an example of my uncle on my dad’s side (my dad is indian and srilankan, while my mother is mexican and cuban), who is mainly Indo-trinidadian and a quarter Afro-trinidadian and a quarter latino ethnically.
@Gigi Khumalo Except the half blacks. just look at Apel de Ap (member of Black Eyed Peas). he's half Filipino yet he looked more black. black people's genes are just dominating.

4:02 to anyone who doesn't know what does "turkic" mean because most people do have hard time with these "turkic"/ "turkish" terms : so, if you are turkic, it means you could be a kazakh, uyghur, yakut, northern cypriotic, turkish, tuvan, chuvas, tatar etc, but if you are turkish, it means you are from the Republic of Turkey (and you are also Turkic as I've written) hope it helps! (also, the term "turkic culture/clothing/food/music" means the culture that is/was the same between all of these turkic countries/regions so whether you are from Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan or some turkic regions that are in Russia or China, you can claim these to be yours (ofc Russian and Chinese people can't claim the turkic culture to be theirs just because Russia and China have many turkic regions in them) but the term "turkish culture/clothing/food/music" means the culture that only belongs to the Republic of Turkey)
@@tritania2688 well, today's Turkish ppl (Anatolian Turkic people) are genetically nearly the same with the Ancient Anatolians, making them mostly European (today's Turkish people are mostly the descendants of the Ancient (native) Anatolians, such as the Lydians, Sumerians etc but ofc also there are many Turkish people with Turkic-Central Asian dna) but they speak a Turkic Language, Turkic languages and Turkic people originated in a bit north of Manchuria, around the very east of Siberia; making the language and the people of eastern asia origin. Its hard to recognize them ( not all are brown, very dark, pale,)

I easily recognized Indian
Atleast by this some stereotypes may end like thinking Asian (means a chinese, japanese, korean)😍
YES FINALLY SOMEONE THAT UNDERSTANDS
Exactly, we Indians are the most diverse country with respect to our skin tones, facial features, languages, ethnic clothes etc.
omg i'm indian too (well.. half, at least) and whenever i tell people i am, they're like "what?? but you have green eyes, no way."
i'm technically mixed, but like? there are a lot of indians that have light colored eyes like i do. india is a very diverse country, in subculture and ethnic appearance!

@@Esther-de6ji oh my god yes, priyanka chopra is absolutely gorgeous! i remember wishing for her tanned skin as a kid haha

im not asian but even i can tell the difference between most asian countries. people are just ignorant

*asian*
We're like Hispanic, asian
"So what asian are you?"

4:02 to anyone who doesn't know what does "turkic" mean because most people do have hard time with these "turkic"/ "turkish" terms :

(also, the term "turkic culture/clothing/food/music" means the culture that is/was the same between all of these turkic countries/regions so whether you are from Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan or some turkic regions that are in Russia or China, you can claim these to be yours (ofc Russian and Chinese people can't claim the turkic culture to be theirs just because Russia and China have many turkic regions in them) but the term "turkish culture/clothing/food/music" means the culture that only belongs to the Republic of Turkey)
