It would have been great if Artie's father was around at the time to call in to the show. I reckon a lot of Artie's mannerisms he probably took from his Father. Especially when he starts talking about sports.
I agree but I don’t think we would have the same guy if his father had lived. I’m not saying it’s justification I’m just saying Artie is who he is because of his life. I always appreciated his self deprecating humor. I miss them on the show
The story of Artie’s dad not being able to sue because “he stole the ladder” never added up for me. 1. Who would ever know the ladder was stolen? If you drove past a worksite and Jack a ladder and toss it in your truck, who would ever know years down the road it was stolen? 2. If you slip off a ladder, especially if you put it on top of a picnic table, you’re not winning any money in a lawsuit against the ladder company anyway. I mean, maybe a few “go the fuck away” shekels, but that’s it. Nothing life-changing.
This fucking hurts. I accidentally caused the downfall of my grandpas health and I still think about it all the time. The guy raises me and I accidentally cut his life down by years
artie tells this story another time he says that at the time of giving the jackit, howard said smtg like "what does he think, that this jacket's gonna make his arms work again?" and that his dad found it hilarious
I seem to remember a re-telling of this story where Howard mentions sending the jacket to benefit a quadriplegic guy, and while Artie was listening as a kid, Howard says: "What does this guy think, that when he puts on the jacket he will be able to walk again?"
Howard’s only worry was who didn’t respond to his fundraiser when Artie told him a heart wrenching story. Tsk tsk Then his next words “did he call you an idiot?”
Thats a shame about his dad, the macho attitude will get you killed, I work at hieghts up to 350 feet up buildings and I don't screw around it's not manly to die because of carelessness.
God howard and robin are so fucking hilarious repeating the same fucking name in the same stupid voice for 10 minutes straight. Howard really was a comic genius

I've been on a binge of early to mid-2000s stern over the past month or two. A question to the die-hard fans: has Robin ever contributed anything of value? I haven't seen any evidence of it. She's never funny and never expresses a real opinion about anything.
Probably the catalyst for arties issues with addiction. I’ve watched and listened to stories where he blamed himself because he wasn’t there that day to hold the latter for his dad like he usually did. Stuff like that I do feel bad for him, what I don’t condone though was the way he became an entitled prick that had everything he ever wanted working on stern and burnt his bridges so bad he faded into obscurity. He’s literally become Bigfoot: often talked about but randomly seen.
Robin absolutely KILLS the vibe and rhythm when she chimes in trying to do comic voices.
Nailed it. I was hoping someone else felt the same way.
Agreed. She's brutal and tried so hard to be funny. Just let Artie and Howard do their bit.
This story is the root of Arties issues.
Probably
Artie was probably fucked and going to be fucked regardless. But it most likely didn’t help
He did say he blamed himself for not being there holding the ladder. Everyone has their problems. Especially being on the Stern show, you see it all.
he was already an addict by the time this happened, but this was the icing on the cake
It was his waistline
You gotta cherish every second you have with your parents, poor artie
Amazing how the Stern show was the only show to help Artie's dad.
Artie really is a good guy.
Artie was all State baseball in hs. in Jersey that's a athlete.
Its a damn shame,it makes me sad everytime i hear the story.
It would have been great if Artie's father was around at the time to call in to the show. I reckon a lot of Artie's mannerisms he probably took from his Father. Especially when he starts talking about sports.
👍💖

This is why artie years are the best , jackie years doesnt come close
I love Artie god bless him and his kin
dude is 51 you're gay

Artie has said that the ladder had the logo/name of the company he stole it from on it.
poor artie, explains a lot
It takes serious comedy skill to make that situation sound hilarious.
Read both of Artie's books. this really fucked him up for good.
This is howard... Idk what is on sirius now.
I still enjoy it, different but still Howard...dudes old of course the speed of the show slows a little
Every good thing must come to an end. The show has sucked for years now but I like 101 for the replays
This fucking hurts. I accidentally caused the downfall of my grandpas health and I still think about it all the time. The guy raises me and I accidentally cut his life down by years
@PatronSaintOfTroll that sucks RUclips doesn't send you notifications for old comments. He'll probably never know you asked. I was curious myself.
Explain
I’m curious of the story. ???
my fav part of the story is that the stern show was the only people that donated anything out all the celebs.
artie always drew out the best
Loving "Norm" as the nurse!
This is fucking hysterical AND touching. Great clip.
Yeah no kiddin'. Becareful everytime you go to work, and never forget. Be safe and God bless.
artie tells this story another time

Hilarious clip! Shut up Robin.
Love the Norm MacDonald impressions at th Gold!e end
I love Robin, But her lines grind this to a halt.
Yeah she’s brutal.
i love how young he sounds :(
He was still thin, he started sounding congested when he gained all the extra weight starting 2006-ish
Kat-a-leeeen Turner

I feel guilty for laughing LOL. Poor Artie.
forever fan
While I am listening I don't know why I am picturing dumbo scene with crows...
im glad im not the only one who noticed.
This was awesome😂
DAD SET THE STOLEN LADDER UP ON A PICNIC TABLE! Artie's Dad was a smart cookie. Gindaloon. FELL 30 FEET!
Very sad..love you Art
7:04 Howard is fucking hilarious.
I'm absolutely floored Artie is still alive
As long as Artie stays away from ladders and picnic tables. He should be ok.
Thats a shame about his dad, the macho attitude will get you killed, I work at hieghts up to 350 feet up buildings and I don't screw around it's not manly to die because of carelessness.
Gay
No it's not he's a scam artist glad he's dead one less shitty human living on this god damn rock
@@ListenToBigFace fuck you you stupid uncompassionate piece of fucking shit 🖕
iconic, james gandolfini just died.
8:55-9:00 *That* was funny as fuck!
Yeah, cause being slim and handsome was really working out for him
God howard and robin are so fucking hilarious repeating the same fucking name in the same stupid voice for 10 minutes straight. Howard really was a comic genius
It’s kind of brutal how quickly this turns into ridicule of Artie’s father... funny tho
I think Artie is playing along because Howard is doing it. If it was someone else or if it was Howard's Dad they wouldn't be going in as hard at all.
Dark humor at its best
I see we have similar taste in comic book characters. >:)
Cat-a-leen!
No celebrities helped. Why am I not surprised....
You mean humans you fucking sheep

Robin was the Molly querim of her time
Right
Minus the eye candy
"Kathleen Turner hits Artie Lange ground balls"
but Howard has also said that they don’t send sh!t to listener requests because, he knows that ppl will sell it on ebay.
“You grew up so rich, probably.”
Robbin is horrible
who's cataline turner?
Are you serious
nsd1901 Kathleen Turner
Google is a thing. Even 8 years ago.

i like when she upsets other staff members, that’s always fun.
Artie's dad ended up dying because Artie did not wake up to hold the latter!
'the show has went down hill' should actually be 'the show has gone downhill'
Benevolence:
Howard Stern > NY Yankees
Sounds like karma a bit sad to say
robin is awful in this.. wow guess i shouldnt be suprised but damn
Agree. Even for Robin she's obnoxious. She just steps all over all the jokes with her lame ass attempts at being funny.
When is Robin ever not awful? She and Ralph are the two most useless people in the history of the show.
Kathleen Turner sounds like an actress from the 1930s.
Fred ruins about 80% of the jokes
Artie is not funny, the show has went down hill every since Jackie left!
