I moved to New Zealand from the States in 1999, Lived in LA, Seattle, Hawaii. I Love it here. Kiwi's are really down to earth people. The government is stable. I think every American should travel at some point to see what else is out there, and experience other cultures.

She was saying about negotiating holidays you don’t need to negotiate because by law you get four weeks a year. You also now get 10 sick days a year, they changed it because of Covid. Some jobs have long service leave where you get one or two weeks extra a year. New Zealand citizens, don’t need insurance to get health care, it’s free. Only thing that you have to pay for is the ambulance Which is $90, and to see your own doctor.

In Aotearoa bro, minimum wage is $20 an hour, when you paying people $800 for a 40 hour week, that has to be passed on.
Milk is $6 for 3 litres, manuka honey for 500g is like $15-$30 depends on if its on special, our food is expensive but once again we pay a minimum wage of $20 a hour, personally i think the top earners of the country dont pay enough tax and also theres too many loop holes for tax diversion.
Biggest thing that will get you far bro is when you go to peoples house's take your shoes off when you go inside, itsa respect thing here

In terms of NZ being expensive. You touched on it with how far away we are and also since covid the price of food has gone up. A supply shortage of ships and containers worldwide due to consumer demand since the pandemic began had driven up freight costs, with the cost of shipping goods to New Zealand increased by 500 per cent in the past year. These costs were passed on to the cost of goods. The New Zealand market also has very little competition so prices can remain high as we have no other choice out there. In America, Europe etc you have a much bigger market with alot of international companies. Prices are lower due to competition keeping it that way. You also have wayyyy more people so supply and demand keep costs low. Convert your USD to NZD anyway and prices shouldn't be too bad for you here. I mean prices are high but we get paid pretty well. Minimum wage is about $22 NZD an hour. You can get cheap flights to Queenstown (from Auckland for example) on grab a seat (Air NZ website) for $79 one way. Book an apartment for $120+ a night and we'll go for about 4 days. We don't do what is advertised for tourists like bungy jumping, skydiving, jet boating etc unless it's a special occasion. We'll ski in Winter or visit wineries in Summer and do walks so it's not actually that expensive for us Kiwis to holiday there. We definitely work hard but also like to play hard and know the value of quality time. Most workplaces will force you to take a break if you have to much holiday leave owed to you as it's a health and safety breach so they need us to take a break and recharge

I love your enthusiasm for coming to my Country, I would love to see you make it here for sure. I mention the following because I watch Kiwi Americans and the things below are things they have not commented on but you need to know.
If you want to tourist then you are in for a wonderful time but if you want to come to live and to work it can be rough. I have helped people from America settle in NZ and it took some time to get comfortable but your attitude of being an Entrepreneur is the right one, even today NZ is still the easiest place in the world to set up and run a stable business (I have two), there are countries that are easier but not stable, there are countries that are more stable but not easier, I believe we are the perfect balance of the two and we don't make it harder for internationals to get going either.
Leave your guns in America, we have guns, buy them here, you will need a license from here but if you are super keen it's not going to stop you is it? You will do what you have to do to use the tool.
We are super strong networkers, you have your blood family and then you have your 'Whanau' or tribe, made up of all the people you want to treat as family and you want them to treat you as family, this is where a lot of your opportunities will come from, so if you have no hobbies or sports interests or religion...get some, because joining a club or hobby group or church is the single fastest way of gaining true entry into NZ society, being insular is the fastest way to going back home. I was helping some German people try to settle and because they insisted on keeping to themselves they just couldn't build the business or land the jobs they needed, eventually deciding to return back to Germany. Being good at what you do is not enough, you need to show people you value them for them to value you. We don't have a massive amount of people in NZ so every customer you gain is gold, every customer you ruin is worse than lead. We talk, we know who does what and how good they do or don't.
    Kia ora, keep doing these.

@@Twano2am - no! You need to prove you have been fully vaccinated to come to NZ. You won’t even be allowed on the plane, even if you have purchased your tickets. For us kiwis, full vaccination is two shots plus at least one booster. That takes time.
My son lives in Australia and is an anti- vaccer. He can return to New Zealand to see the family.
As a New Zealand citizen, he has the legal right to return home.
However, he won’t be able to go back to Australia ( where he owns a home and has a job) because he is not vaccinated.
He has a decision to make, what’s more important- family or the vaccine.
There is plenty of information on the internet- just make sure you are reading the New Government official websites on travelling here. There is a lot of miss information out there, so do the mihi.
Happy travels, you are going to have an awesome time, and get to experience what living in a multi cultural community should be.

A consumerist society means its open 24 hrs a day, nothing closes, NZ goes to sleep at night, all shops (except for sum supermarkets and fuel stations) are closed

  • @johnking2740
    @johnking2740 Год назад

    This might be long.
When you mention about the health system, the Dr's, Nurses, Orderlies and other staff get paid by the Government, in emergency situations the cost normally would be only parking and a small price for an Ambulance (EMT/Paramedic), non emergency situations and you would be put on a waiting list (again, no charge), the only way to skip the waiting list is to go private and that means Health Insurance or pay out of your pocket.
The Government pays them from our taxes.
The Income tax rate should not exceed 20 - 25%. The consumer tax, which is included with everything consumer related used to be 12.5% as Goods & Services (GST) but has since increased to 15%, whereas I believe in America that depends on each state and is more a hidden cost.
The housing market and consumer goods here are getting rather pricey, but there are ways to avoid those rising prices - Supermarkets - go online and see which have specials, make a comparison and write down a list and from where; the Housing market - the closer to a big city, the more expensive the costs, the further away you go the cheaper it becomes, but that is countered by the travel distance. The majority of crimes happen in big cities, as evidenced worldwide. Another way to save money is to grow your own vege gardens and fruit trees.
For the most part we are non materialistic, we prefer Quality over Quantity, Simplicity over Complexity. We also like to do DIY (Do It Yourself), an example is building a fence - if you build it yourself and it looks like trash, you will have a sense of pride because you did it yourself and not paid someone else to do it, any mistakes you make then you can learn from it and you can grow as a person.

I blame colonisations for everything being the ‘same’ in her perspective. Not allowed to speak our own language back in the day and some of our own cultural practices, even practising our Maori learning had been kept out of the school curriculum. Quite sad, we don’t know how to be our own culture to its full extent. In my opinion I believe we listen to the same music because it is good shit to listen too but it’s also relatable and life experiences were similar. No where near as dangerous and we weren’t particularly slaved in our country but forced to change our ways of living or suffer the consequence of death at foreign hands. But I always wondered why we don’t speak our own language like the rest of the world (asides America) and i strongly feel it’s because that dude. Captain cook took a step on our land and ruined the future itself. i don’t know lol. We would’ve been better off living how we did back in the day than living how we do now. I love the idea of living off grid. Care free. Fuck all the unnessecary shit.

American culture has influenced kiwi culture spesh the Pacifica Maori community. Our prisons are American designed and our motorways are azwell. The only difference that would be noticeable is you r coming to a country that has 5mil tops people compared to 3- to 400 million in the 🇺🇸. There are a lot of different cultures in aotearoa (nz) but the Maori are native to the land, so learn a Lil about our history about Maori war and how it has influenced the outcome of what u see in aotearoa(nz) today. It's easy to be kiwi u just need to say a corny slang sayings of ours like chur bro, upto ow, yeah nah ect but if you want to be real I encourage you to learn the Maori culture, u will be greeted with a Hongi which means both party's press nose together in a act of a spiritual connection, becoming one spirit one mind one people
Race boundaries no longer exists we r one. You will see our country is not like this because kiwi people they know Hu they r don't acknowledge Maori culture.any great vis az always

Hey bro, no doubt, that was your most annoying video for me, i have watch a few, Jake the muss for example, i understand it was a reaction video, but you interrupted every 2mins, bro!.... other than that i enjoy watching your video's, please dont chop it up so finely so that we cannot get the full gist of what you are reacting to... lastly i hope you make it to Aotearoa, this land of the long white cloud, apart from just this video so far i love your content... Amazing how 21-year-olds know everything and always more than people who have been alive two or three times older than them. Life is a lot like gambling. Do not gamble with assets you can't afford to lose. If you can't afford to stand a loss then DON'T gamble. Like, leave you job thinking you're going to get a better one only if you can afford for things to fuck up.

Americans live and die by the philosophy that life isn't fair, but in America at least you're free. You're free to fuck up and have no-one care because life isn't fair and we don't owe you anything or to look after you because you're free to succeed or fail and if you fail that's your fault because you had the freedom to succeed but you failed, so, why is that my problem if YOU fucked up. Life ain't FAIR, and we're going to make sure it isn't. And anyway, at lease you're free, which is the most important thing in the world.
