    They say to keep the clean out plug pulled out so it doesn’t get stuck in there and corrode. Just reinstall before every use. I’ve been doing a lot of research on the Yamaha boats for 6 months. Very nice, Enjoy it.

      Thanks! Yes I’ve read that too. Something else I’ve read is spraying silicone on the rubber and other things to protect. So far it’s made clean out plug removal easy.

    I have the exact set up, make sure to double check your self-bailing connections and live well over fill, the well is not sealed, it will over flow to the bilge and surprise you.

    I had a 190 FSH with the normally aspirated motor. I kept regular alcohol free gas in it. The supercharged engine of the 195 needs premium fuel only? Also, my boat was pretty soggy. The storage and bilge always had some sort of water in it though I tried to seal up any known leaky spots (ie., anchor locker). Mine was a 2018... Things change for the 2021? I sold mine for other ventures and miss a boat. Thinking of popping on a 190 FSH again. Holding off on the 195 because of the premium fuel requirement and extra wear on the engine? Great video!

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  Год назад

      Thanks for the compliment and sharing your experience. I believe there were some small changes in 2019 and newer. Yes it does require premium fuel which does kinda stink. Love this boat though! We’re looking forward to getting back out on the water. Thanks so much for watching.

    I have rebuilt two of these engines due to sand accumulation in the water jacket. The Yamaha has an open circuit cooling system and it sucks up external water for cooling purposes. Shallow water, sand bars, and beaches have the potential of filling the engine with sand. If you use it in salt it MUST be flushed after use. (actually it always should be flushed after each use) My son did not flush it one season end and the salt caused the same problem as the sand. Yamaha also does not use stainless steel hose clamps (in the past) which can become a rust concern. Lubrication of the shielded cables is difficult but keep an eye on the cables because they will wear through the external shield. Use a garden sprayer and a 50/50 mix of motor oil and kerosene on the trailer. Will significantly slow the rusting. Especially carbon steel leaf springs.... they are prone to rust. Trailer lights notoriously fail on trailers. Check them so you will know. Another item the salt readily attacks is the starter. There are thermal sensors for overheating which usually means clogged intake or sand clogged cooling system. Boats are a pain but I love em

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  2 года назад

      Great info! We probably won’t use it in saltwater a bunch of times per year, but definitely plan to use it there. I do flush it every outing and steer clear from shallow water… always try and stay in at least 3-4 feet. The cables I’ve been living with Yamaha grease and spraying everything in the engine bay with spray silicone to protect it some. The trailer does worry me in the long term. I have thoughts of selling it and purchasing a better trailer.
      Again, huge thanks to your first hand jnfo and knowledge… really helpful to a new boater like myself:

      @@ChristianGrest … The carpet on the rails does wear out and it has to be replaced occasionally. So you have to hoist up the boat so you can remove the rails. Spraying the 50-50 oil and kerosene mix on the trailer helps tremendously. Do yourself a favor and buy one of those long boat poles with a hook on the end. Makes handling 10 times easier

    I just test drived a 195 FSH, i like the high speed handling, but feels like the control is low speed is not good, and it took the guy five times to get the boat into the trailer, I heard that you can install something to help with low speed steering, because i usually do the side scan for the dock, low speed handling is important to me, can you tell me what do you think about it?

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  2 года назад

      I’ve had both the Thrust Vectors and Cobra Jet steering. Either of those help tremendously with low speed steering. As a matter of fact I have a slightly used set of Thrust Vectors I’d be willing to sell.

      @@ChristianGrest 100% Agree. My wife and I recently moved down to SW Florida. Neither of us owned a boat before, but we decided to buy a Yahama AR195. Took the boat out for the first time and I thought something was "broken" because the boat was super unresponsive at no wake speed around the marina/dock. Got the JetPilot Thrust Vector & Lateral vectors.....WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!! Can spin the boat 360 degrees on a dime now. Docking now with total confidence.

    I literally have that identical boat down to the color and Garmin...weird! lol However, I did add more Seadek from JBP, on the upper decks and swim platforms and wow what a difference in comfort. Regarding maintenance, it's so simple as a DIY and saves a ton of $$. Amazon has the correct anchor for under $25. I also added the Reverse Thruster 2.0 from JBP and its a huge difference for reversing. I hate my Shorlandr trailer because you can't add Easy Steps to the tongue, so Will from JBP is R&Ding that as a potential new product. Anyways congrats and happy boating!!
