  • We visited Lake O'Hara for the second time. We were fortunate to win the lottery draw for this trip. The first time we tried, there was no bus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we had to hike 11 km to the campsite. This time, however, we caught the Lake O'Hara bus to the campground. After setting up our tent, we embarked on a hike to McArthur Lake. The next day, we hiked to Oesa and decided to challenge ourselves with the Alpine route on the way back. On our last day, we woke up early, had breakfast by the fireplace, and prepared to explore Seven Veil Falls and the shoreline of Lake O'Hara. Overall, this trip was amazing.

Thank you for the nice video! What date did you visit? Were the mosquitos only at the cooking shelter or at the lakes as well?

On July 1st, we visited Lake O'Hara. There wasn't much snow due to low winter snowfall the previous year. Mosquitoes were abundant, making it hard to stay still. The weather changed drastically, so be prepared! Despite warm daytime temperatures, it dropped close to zero at night.

Mosquitoes everywhere, the lakes, the campsite.... Bug spray didn't help...

@@edmyeung Thank you for the info! This is our first time visiting O'hara and we have camping reservations the second week of August this year so I am hoping there will be less mosquitos by then. We will bring bug repellent in case and rain gear. Also, I liked your set up with the tarp over your tent so we will plan to bring a tarp as well :)

It's me again. I like your tarp set up above your tent. What size is the tarp? Do you think it's beneficial? We've only camped in fair weather so don't have any experience in rain. Thanks for any advice.

It's 8x10, making it easy to set up, on arriving at the campground in the morning, you can pick any open site and register your name on the board.

@@edmyeung Ok, 8 x 10 sounds reasonable and thank you we'll see what's open when we get there. We are scheduled for the 8:30am bus so we'll have 3 nights/4 days.
