I am thinking of buying my own kart once I’m old enough to get a job, probably second hand in the near future just to race at my local circuit. I’m doing rental league racing at the moment because it’s a lot cheaper but the thing that I’m most concerned about when moving into owner karts is not the expense but more I feel it would be to complicated to figure out which part is which and the mechanic side. Great video, very helpful!
I raced in the late 70s when I was 8. Karting wasnt just about winning or even competing, it was about maintaining the machine. That changed my life. I looked at everything differently as I realized I build anything. In the 80s, while in high school, I started road racing motorcycles. After graduating, I went on an got an engineering degree and built bigger things. All the while pushing myself further and further. Get that kart. Don't worry about getting a newer competitive kart, just get one. Your life will change.
Just had my first session in my new (secondhand) kart. Watching all your videos have me the bug again, and I couldn’t resist getting back into the sport. Keep up the good work!
Yes it is a lot of work but comments like yours and the others that let me know they enjoy it make it very worth it. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Thanks for sharing. We used clean and do maintenance on the race care every week something monthly and so on. Its an important part of keeping anything you race in top condition.
Great Video man! Thank you from the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Doug helped me out a lot over the phone when I first got my new VLR engine installed on my kart…I Couldn’t get it started and he walked me through some things to look for over the phone and I ended up having the ground wire in the wrong place.
What does Doug charge for the service, lol. Seems like an awesome dude. Plan on getting my first cart before the end of the year. Look forward to meeting y’all up there in Dig D.
I’m trying to get into formula 4 in the next few years I’ve only done relatively competitive sim racing so far and a little bit of karting plane to get a kart and start in the spring and really lock in to achieve my dreams
Great content! I’ve watched all of your vids. Everything has been very informative. Im searching for my first kart. Looking to run KA100 Sr. How did you discover a potential problem with the rear bearing? That would be a good episode too. Thx for sharing
On the rear bearing, when you spin the axle without a chain on it, you will hear a grinding noise coming from one of the bearings if it's bad. Good luck hunting for a kart!😊👍👍
I have a Sodi chassis similar to this chassis. My son is running a Rotax junior engine and we installed a 10 degree Odenthaul mount similar to this. Our problem after installation, was the tensioner no longer able to stop the engine from moving. The slide section was higher than the mounted section on the chassis making it above the stop. Have you figured out a fix for this?
@@beckettfriesen I dont have any experience with karts, only 2 stroke motorcycles. I just figured that karts had transmission oil like my 2 stroke motorcycle

I felt the exact same way about working on the kart before I got into it. I think you have a good plan for your karting.

Glad your in the sport, keep it going! Thanks for your time in watching the videos.
Very interesting. I know it takes a lot of work to put together a detailed video like this. Great stuff! Thanks!

Good stuff. I feel like I’m always wenching in my shifter kart. Between servicing and upgrades it’s non stop. Good video, sir. BRAP!
Yes, shifters are very. Thanks for watching!

I brought it home now vs. storing it at the track so now I can work on it during the week. Should make things easier. Hope you're good Nash!

Thanks Mathew! Yes, Doug is very helpful. I didn’t know about ground wires until another Karter’s kart had trouble. It wasn’t connected back.
Glad to see some content! Good luck in the upcoming season!!
Thank you Shone P!
I had a Tag Sodi chassis,great handling kart,low maintenance,super fast,lots of fun👍
I was digging the Peace at the end
I have to keep tabs on Doug because he'll take over if I give him an inch. LOL!
do you do this after every race? and also, could you make a more in-depth tutorial on how to do this and what equipment you use?
How often do you open the carb & change the gaskets & check the moving arm/lever/spring/jet etc on the float bowl? Thanks great video

I’m not sure but he runs the Texas Karting Network Facebook page. You can reach him there.

Cool allen/hex tool where did ya get that?

hey illigal alien racing, is the pavesi shift engine a good engine'
What kind of tools are u using
Sweet! Ty
I wish i had my own kart its just i dont know where to buy one for a good price
I am a part time karter and I do not have much time to mantince my kart could you give me a few suggestions on where to go to have help?
What engine package do you have?
Who makes Sodi?
I want to start karting but my dad won’t let me because he doesn’t know how to fix or build the engine etc not of the money
A shifter came to my local track the thing got to 89 mph😨
How often do you change the oil on the kart?
It’s a 2 stroke engine. Oil is mixed with the gas.
@@beckettfriesen I dont have any experience with karts, only 2 stroke motorcycles. I just figured that karts had transmission oil like my 2 stroke motorcycle
@@JVBNorway I don’t know about shifter karts, but with single speed 2 stroke karts, you just mix the fuel and oil
@@beckettfriesen That I did not know, but is very interesting, thank you. It makes sense for a single speed
Love the vids and first
