- Africa's Next Top Model is a reality television show in which a number of women compete for the title of Africa's Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modeling industry. The show is hosted by supermodel Oluchi, and features aspiring models from a wide variety of countries all over the African continent.

I like this version of Top Model because I feel that it's actually about making a Top Model. The women gain experience and like learn. I feel the judges are very authentic and the girls are authentic. I like this.

Feels a bit amateurish, but a lot more down to earth than the American. I love it.
I'm really disappointed on how some of this girls talk about sanitary pad. One described it as "disgusting" and another described period as a "situation" you don't want people to know about. They have a lot more than modelling to learn🤦♀️
There's a disconnection between the photoshoot challenges and the judging that I feel the models can't be blamed for. Oluchi seems to be having a problem with the concept and direction behind the photoshoots and not so much the model's capability. If anything, it's Remi's skills that should be questioned. The models are suffering in his behalf.

next season of Africa's next top model should level up. They need so much to improve like photographer, judges, crews and host. Asia's next top model and America's next top model is on the new high level. But still a great show.

Omowunmi Wanyonyi was my choice to win this. Her crying in the bottom 2 was heartbreaking. I wished she stayed and went to the United States for the overseas location.
Opeyemi didn't deserve to be in the bottom two.
Gosh the judges are pretty nice and great at directing during photo shoot. That is a big gift.
I feel like Opeyemi got faulted a lot for the photographer's decisions. It's good he defended her, but her bottom two placement was kind of unfair.
Did these girls really say what does selling stuff have to do with modelling? What do you think the girls behind the makeup campaigns you see in commercials are doing?! They are selling you a product. On the runway you help sell the clothes. You also need to be able to sell other items in the fashion industry. If you go the more commercial route instead of high fashion, you'll be selling things more often.
ashante Totally agree with you. I actually laughed out loud by that model's remark. I've watched several of these next top model shows, and maybe it's the youth but I believe these girls just see models in magazines and they have no real concept of what modeling entails. They need to seriously study this industry and get an understanding as to what modeling is about. Even the comment about the traveling...that is a huge part of modeling, sometimes jetting off from one destination at a moment's notice. They need professionalism and realize that ultimately models are sales people, glamorous sales people, but salespeople just the same.

ashante 👍🏾✌🏾You know, years ago I modeled, mostly fashion shows but only on a very local scale. For years I studied fashion, wanting to be a major model. Not quite tall enough so I was a pageant girl for years and did pretty well with that. Many women would KILL for an opportunity like this. Yes, most would miss their families, boyfriends, friends, whatever...but for the life of me I always wonder if these girls fully realize that this show won't last forever and eventually they'll get to see their families. It's a couple friggin months at best. That always boggles my mind, and I write this while still tying to be sympathetic. I would TOTALLY embrace this once in a lifetime changing moment and call it a day. I'm shaking my head now. I believe the truly successful models get this and understand a truly special opportunity when it hits you over the head. Go figure.
You havelock remember somegirls are really naive to this world of modelling and what’s expected from them, the poverty levels where some of the girls stem leaves them at a disadvantage
@@gemmaluescher-verseckas1243 I understand to a certain extent. Many of the top models of the 2000s-2010s came from poverty such as Russian beauty Natalia Vodianova. However, it's expected that before someone goes on a show like this that they at least do SOME research. Nobody should go into a career field completely blind.

So bad Safira isn't there anymore, maybe her walk wasn't outstanding, but she definetly had potential.. Her look was interesting, she had charisma and she looked fierce on the photos. And the other girls... Look how they're posing. So bad...

Hopefully Africas Next Top Model will get better season by season because, right now ummm... it needs some work. But overall it's okay for first season.

P&G has a very large selection of products that all the models could have had different products instead of repeating them. If they needed to repeat them like they why didn't they use different concepts (Olay, Always etc)

Is this guys really a photographer? You can get his camera at Argos. I ready commented on previous episodes about his comments to the models. As they are so general and seem like he picked them up from others shows.

Oluchi is no Tyra. I don't think she knows anything as far as what different types of modeling are. I believe she is knowledgable in her area but Trya Banks had knowledge is all areas be the ones she didn't know she had judges who did. Africa has better than Oluchi I'm sure of it. The most beautiful, talented and outrageously gorgeous females that country has omg 😍

I think if the models understood the task a little more they would shoot better.
I do think the level of professionalism from Oluchi is subpar. She's so rude with speaking to people and the eye rolling etc. I'd liken her to a someone with keys... they feel the power and act like they are entitled to it. The photographer seems ametuer. If you looked at his opening stuff 95% of his pictures were with Oluchi. It's as though he expects the models to work around his lacking rather than him working around theirs.... after all, it's his job to fix what the model can't. It's what a good photographer does!

I wish the girls were little bit more nice to each other and represent themselves in their own beautiful way. It seems just another copy of America's next top model. But other than that African girls are tall and fast learner. Their English is pretty good as well. Good luck on the show.

I must have a lot to learn about African culture, first I'm totally shocked that the girls don't understand that doing commercials is advertising modeling, who do they think the people are that do tv commercials, they are model/actors, additionally to thing sanitary pads are disgusting???? Womens periods are a normal, regular part of life, no periods, no children, grow up, they were, many of them whiny, complaining babies, I'm so embarrassed for them. These girls need to grow up, fast...
Sorry but these few women do not represent all of Africa Beth, same as the American women on the Tyra Banks version do not represent all of America. But also, one thing to consider is that there still is patriarchy in a lot of third world countries, not just those in Africa and this means that there is still a lot of shame and disgust around menstruation. However, first world countries find breastfeeding in public disgusting soo... cultural differences I guess. Also, this is "reality" TV and it may have been manipulated to keep the Africans looking "dumb". As an African I can tell you that we are knowledgeable about advertising and marketing and we are knowledgeable about pads, tampons, menstrual cups etc. It obviously depends on level of education and privilege as well. Unfortunately this show does not show the best of Africa, the whole production is a disappointment.
