I recently pounced on some 66s new with tags and missed that they are heavily tapered from factory! Great fit around the waist though but feel like I am missing out on the straight leg version. Cool jeans though and they have rips that have been repaired with chambray. Actual jeans made from cone mills denim. Haven’t checked the letter, maybe it’s different?
Hey Den! I love your videos? Can I ask you where you get your pictures of the variations? Are there online catalogues you're using? I found some LVC lookbooks from 2013/14 etc, but doesn't seem to be anything earlier than 2010, do you have anything you could share?
Great job. Love the way you do your reviews. I would love it if you did a video on upsizing down sizing etc as I’ve not seen anyone do this and you would be the man. I bought my first pair of 501s in 1984 shrink to fits. Then the second hand American pairs. In the 80s a lot of more indie or retro styled people wore them a upsized with a belt.
@@denindenim ah ok I see. I thought it was a lucrative business model, you know, getting people into vintage Levi’s to buy straight from the brand. Why would they end the line?
hello, congratulations for the very interesting content. I would like to buy a pair of 1966s, for all other models I wear a 31 (pre wash) do you recommend to keep the same size for 1966s as well? Then I would be curious to know what are your three favorite levis vintages? Thanks Hi
funny video, but actually Levis solved the rivet problem in 1937 by moving them on the back pocket to the inside. Hidden rivets as they are called and the don't scratch anything on the outside anymore haha. So that was already 30 years earlier. Lee never had that problem. They used UFO styled ones wich did not scratch and changed to bar tracking in the 40s.
I was wondering what Levi’s Brad Pitt was wearing in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He does wear an actual 60s vintage Wrangler jacket with a zip. He is definitely wearing Levi’s in the film. Could he be wearing 1966 501s? Possible future video idea: Levi’s in film, spotlight on one film per video
@@denindenim it seems Brad is like Johnny Depp, a Levi’s fan. He has a pair of 1966s (I think) you can find on google images and he has been seen wearing them numerous times.
I got a pair of 1966 lvc that seem to be missing rivits any thoughts ? Also thought maybe you could compare the 1954 to the 1966 considering they both have a taper to the legs of them . Great video btw !
@@denindenim thanks a lot for the info I think that’s what the previous owner did to them considering there rather snug around the calf area . I’ll have to buy a new pair to compare the fit
They came out soon after I made this video but please add pairs I might have missed or came out out afterwards. I hope this becomes a living resource to those looking for a complete LVC list.
Sorry I did not mean to sound overbearing ✌🏼Love your content and I just get excited because the customized wide selvedge 1955 and 1966 are my faves 👍🏼 Keep up the great work.
@denindenim Likewise. You're saying the 66 is your favorite fit in the current LVC line? I have the 44, 47, and 54. After watching this video, I'm thinking about trying the 66 next.
Can't believe people actually pay $265 or whatever for LVC distressed and/or fake faded jeans...they look like stuff that came out of a dumpster dive. Nasty wear.
The sixties were a great decade, until JFK died, then it turned to SH*T, JFK, Psycho and my Parents were born in 1961 and 2, it was basically a continuation of the 1950s, that is why i was very skeptical of the 501 1966, then I researched and realise i was right, it is downgrade from the 1955s especially in the inside rivets on the back pockets, I dunno i just dislike the 1960s 1964 and after until 1980, I like the 1980s and 1990s (sorry im a bit drunk atm)
Are the Levis 501 1966 on the Levis LVC site shrink to fit jeans?? They are listed as rigid selvedge with dark wash?? The dark wash is a little confusing.
I have a question: i ordered a Levis 501 1966 in size 32/32 and a Levis 501 1966 in size 34/34. Both are shrink to fit. I am thinking about to keep the 34/34, because i want to shrink these in the washing machine. The size 34/34 has bigger back-pockets than the 32/32 size, which i don't like very much. Will the pockets shrink too and become smaller or will they stay bigger than the pockets on the 32/32 size??
I would like to buy a Levis 501 1966 rigid pair. I wash my jeans always in the washing machine with warm water ( 40 degrees celcius). Should i size up in the 1966 model?? And If yes, how much??

A recommendation when buying distressed LVC or Levi's in general : buy the correct inseam length or the honeycombs will be in the wrong place
I've been waiting for this one! Great video, currently bidding on a pair.
I'd really like to get my hands on some 1966 501s. Maybe one day.
Now and in the next 6 months is the best time for 66s.
@@denindenimwhy is that? Legit question. Why is now the best time for them?

I’m the same size. 66 are true to size. Get 31. Unless you are gonna shrink from rigid.
Supposedly the Iron Heart 634 is based on the 1966 501
Love it love it love it
Nice video as always Den!
What are the slimmest 501 vintages? Heard it’s the 66 but wanna know

I've read they are LVC or maybe real vintage. I can see a Jacron patch. Maybe 55 or 66? the jacket I know is a wrangler.
I also read they are 517s

Maybe he weared levis lvc 1967 jeans, low rise and zip, just like in a movie, back pockets also like lvc 1967, also he wear artificially fade jeans
Levis 505 1967
Great review! Are the 1966 comparable to the 1963?
I’m working on the 63 video now. The fit is similar but there’s 3 detail differences.

I'd love to have a 1937's pair. But I've never seen a size 42/44 pair to be sold, which I can shrink to a 40
36 is as high as it commonly goes but you will find some 38 and some promo pairs real vintage over 40
You did not mention the LVC 501 Customized 1966, with the wider selvedge ID 👍🏼
