  • The Three Stooges travel from the East to the West as three bumbling newspaper printers along with reporter Ken Cabot to Casper, Wyoming to investigate the slaughter of the buffalo by Rance Roden. Rance plots to kill off all the buffalo, causing the Indians to riot and destroy the US Cavalry, and allowing the Roden gang to take over the West. Ken Cabot’s shooting skill, secretly aided by Annie Oakley, earns him the job of Sheriff. Rance calls on his band of famous outlaws to kill Cabot and The Three Stooges, but Moe, Larry and Curly Joe sneak into the gang’s hideout while they’re asleep and glue their firearms to their holsters. When Cabot confronts the bad guys and wins, the outlaws (with Stooge-like prompting from the boys) decide that a life of justice is better than crime. Rance Roden is played by Don Lamond, Larry’s son-in-law and longtime host of The Three Stooges show in Los Angeles. Adam West played Ken Cabot who later starred in the popular TV series ‘Batman’ and today as the Mayor in ‘Family Guy,’ and with co-stars Nancy Kovak as Annie Oakley and Henry Gibson who later starred on ‘Laugh-In’.

      Curly Joe had his own delivery, and style- it was not quick and Stoogy- it was more deliberate and slow build like Foghorn Leghorn or Mr. Magoo- but you can’t say they put him in and said “ ape Jerome Curly Howard”

    Johnny Ringo was played by Hal Fryer ,who using the name Harlo Hickenhoopler hosted The Three Stooges on TV saturday morning from 1960 to 1972 , here in Indianapolis . I went to one of the shows in the TV studios when it was being aired when I was a cub scout and when this was released in 1965 , He introduced a showing of the film at a neighborhood theater I attended . He did a meet and greet in costume in 2010 that I attended .

      That's bizarre because Rob Dalton was portrayed by Joe Bolton who was a host of the Three Stooges show on WPIX channel 11 out of New York City. He was in the role of the neighborhood "cop on the beat" and was loved by all the kids. I wonder if there were other show hosts in the cast that we don't know of.

    • @epsteinisms1483

      Kevin: I was just wondering if you remember why this film had the grammatically incorrect title? It directly had to do with.... Alfred Hitchcock!
      Before his film "The Birds" was released there was a tremendous amount of ballyhoo, which lasted for months. And the catchphrase for the TV ads, was " 'The Birds' IS coming". It was a typically droll Hitchcockian play on words, because it was BOTH grammatically correct and incorrect at the same time. The Stooges film title was a direct reference to that very well-known catchphrase!

    • @kevinbutler1955NYC
      @kevinbutler1955NYC 2 года назад +6

      Yes..I know how the title change came about..The film's producer/director and editor of the storyline:Norman Maurer..he went to NYC for a meeting with the top execs of Columbia Pictures..they weren't too thrilled with the film's original title"The Three Stooges Meet The Gunslingers"..they suggested to Mr.Maurer..if he could create another title for the film? He didn't have one..but? In the same building..were the office of Universal Pictures..and he got permission to see the trailer for Mr.Hitchcock's film:"The Birds"..he watched the trailer that said"The Birds Is Coming!". And Mr.Maurer said to himself"The Outlaws Is Coming!"..that is a better title. And that is how this film became"The Outlaws Is Coming!".

      And, yes, I have fond memories of "Officer" Joe Bolton hosting the Stooges, as well as "The Little Rascals". Recently I found out, quite by accident, that several of the Stooges used to attend an elementary school back in Brooklyn, which just happened to be the same school in whose playground I used to play sports with some relatives who lived nearby. Of course there were many years between those events....

      Actually, make that as a ninth theatrical film.
      Since “Time Out for Rhythm” was the first movie with Moe, Larry and Curly and it’s the only film without Ted Healy.
      Along with “Rockin’ in the Rockies” as the second theatrical film and “Swing Parade” as the third theatrical film and it was Curly’s final film appearance.
      “Have Rocket, Will Travel” was the fourth theatrical film and Curly-Joe’s first film appearance.
      Although if “The Outlaws Is Coming” was the ninth and final theatrical film, until the tenth theatrical film “StoogeMania” came and it had a limited release in theaters with negative reviews.
      “The Three Stooges 2000” was the eleventh film, but only for television to be aired and as for the 12th theatrical film, “The Three Stooges 2012” was a good success for the original Three Stooges as their honors.

    Spoilers:
    I love the instant Polaroid gag with Larry's camera. Despite the goofy comedy of this movie, I like the armored wagon with the Gatling gun and turret mounted canon. Not actually feasible, I know, but still pretty cool. (And, of course, the only way to defeat it was a tree limb and a lot of pies and an A-Team level jury-rigged Gatling gun made from a meat grinder and an ammo belt.)

    And, Paul Shannon as Wild Bill Hickock! He was the one that gave the Stooges a new life in the early `60's by showing a lot of their shorts on his afternoon kid's show in Pittsburgh! I always thought he could've easily doubled for Moe!

    • @warrenroy5376
      @warrenroy5376 7 месяцев назад

      I remember Paul Shannon taking off from Adventure Time to go out to California and play in that Three Stooges movie. Also I agree that Paul Shannon resembled Moe Howard!

    • @RedVynil
      @RedVynil 7 месяцев назад

      @@warrenroy5376 It was Paul that introduced us (at least, me) to The 3 Stooges. I don't think I'd ever heard of them before his show.
      There was an old guy that lived on the 1st floor across the street from us and all we knew was that his name was, King. He never came outside and always kept his doors and windows completely shut off from the outside world! A complete mystery! Nobody knew what he looked like! Then Paul Shannon started doing his Nosmo King character and we thought that's who King was! It wasn't `til a year or two later that we figured out that Nosmo was Paul and that the name came from a No Smoking sign.
      The Stooges played a number of times on stage at Kennywood but, I never got there to see them. The stage was where the loading ramp to the Thunderbolt is, now.

      @@RedVynil That is interesting. I by the way grew up in Elkins, WV. WTAR Channel 4 Pittsburgh was the station I watched it on. And yes I remember Nosmo King. And I heard the same about how he got that name!
      I confess as a kid about 4 or 5 I found Nosmo King frightening but as I grew older he didn't bother me much.
      Thank you.

      @@RedVynil And one more comment. As I preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I wonder what causes people to be like that.
      I had an Uncle who was semi like that. He did work a job and would go to work. So he did go out some.
      Finally after his sister and brother-in-law died in 1977 you would see him more. And after the saw mill he he worked at burnt down in 1982 he became unemployed and it seemed he got out even more.
      It was nothing to see him sitting around on benches in Elkins,WV. Reading and other things.
      I believe two things made reclusive,
      (1) In World War 2 over in Germany he was pulling guard duty.
      A drunken American Officer walked up. When my Uncle told him to identify himself he never did. In fact he was defiant. So my Uncle was forced to shoot him!
      (2). He never married. I do hear he had a girlfriend but it didn't work out.
      If there was anything else I don't know. He was a little hard of hearing.
      But regardless he was semi-reclusive.
