- Pitt's non-conference schedule is over and the Panthers are 10-2 heading into ACC play. What did we learn about the Panthers and where do they stand at the end of December?

A couple of things:
Overall, it was a pretty solid non-conference schedule for Pitt. The Mississippi State game, just burn the tape from that game and learn from it. That reminded of the Wake Forest Game last year where Pitt went down there and get smoked, but then played Wake in the ACC Tournament in DC and beat them by 12. Play this game on a neutral court, I think the outcome is different or at least closer.
Pitt had some pretty good non-conference wins, West Virginia, who is now 8-2 and Pitt beat them by 24, a win over LSU which does give them a win over the SEC, a huge road win at Ohio State which just beat Kentucky by 20 on Saturday and even though Virginia Tech is not good, they got a road win in Blacksburg to start 1-0 in conference play.
Overall, I think Pitt hoops are in a good spot getting Damien Dunn back for the heart of the ACC schedule is going to help. Jalend Lowe is quickly becoming, in my opinion, one of the best point guards not only in the ACC but across college hoops.
To the football side do you know if either Eli Holstein or Des Reid is going to play against Toledo on Thursday?
Pitt needs to get back to defending like they did in the Ben Howland/Jamie Dixon era when they made life miserable for Big East Teams. I agree they have the offense and particularly the guards give me some hope that this Pitt team can be dangerous, but if they become stingy defensively, I think you have a very dangerous Pitt team.
