Fr ever since my friend got me into trandoshan lore with the scorekeeper I've been on this huge kick of learning the ins and outs of every species culture and history, so much stuff to delve into it genuinely feels like a real galaxy with people in it, it's so insane
The Wookie's homeworld is literally hell with giant monsters and sentient plants coming at them, then they get enslaved by the Empire and refuse to bow down, truly a planet of badasses
An addition to the whole "madclaw" thing, they describe in detail in the game why this is seen as such a shameful display. The wookies are apparently sort of embarassed about their berserker rage mode and they see the ability to avoid using their claws even when furious as something that separates them, a highly intelligent sapient species, from animals. So the rule is that their claws can only be used as tools, which incidentally probably helps a lot with their famous woodcrafting ability.
Reminds me of the Dwarves from Warhammer Fantasy, where if a clan found an ore vein, they tapped the metal to see if another clan on the other side also found it, if they did, they would resolve who gets the ore vein by insulting eachother, the first clan to become so pissed off that they cant come up with another insult, loses.
I always found it amusing, that Wookiee Resistance used large amount of CIS war materiel, leftover from Battle of Kashyyyk. B1: "I never thought I'll be terminated next to a walking carpet". Wookie rebel: "Raaarll!!!" B1: "Shut up and paas me more blaster cartriges".
God, I love Wookiees. I think it helps a lot that one of my first Lego sets was the RotS Kashyyk set, with the little Wookiee ship and the neon orange tank droid lmao

My heart broke when I learned of Chewie's death at the hands of The Yuuzhan Vong, to the point where I almost burst into tears and am still fighting them off as I'm typing this out; I knew the Vong were evil bastards but after learning what they've done too The Ithorian's home world and now the death of Chewie. . ow, my heart really hurts with the pain and sorrow I feel for them. ='( At least the entire Galaxy paid their respects for their fallen furry friend; and I shall too. . rest in peace Chewbacca, you'll be missed for a long time. 07

On the subject of Wookiees using claws, I remember one of the novels I read (it may have been the "Heir to the Empire" trilogy) where it was observed (I don't recall if it was by Han or Leia) one point when Chewie was tinkering with some piece of machinery with a claw. The novel noted that it is a point of courtesy amongst Wookiees not to use claws in a lot of social interactions, citing a point that they are, at their base, climbing tools for their trees, therefore seeing him picking at something with a claw was a rare sight, but not within forbidden actions.

Just because the wookies are too nuanced to get a show showing their exploits like the Mandalorians doesn't mean they aren't badass. Not a diss on the Mandos, they have nuance too, but they also mostly speak basic and don't actively try not to lean into being a warrior culture.
I know that Chewbacca is based off of George Lucas’ dog, but I think it’s funny that over the years the lore has made them essentially their species hippie communist Bigfoot.

I have always envied the glorious fur of the Wookies. I would love to be that shaggy. I identify as a long haired freaky person anyway, and the thought of never being cold in winter is a very attractive prospect, I hate winter.
I was just reading about the silverback and about je’daii and how they left tython etc. They moved to Ossus blah blah jedai and dark jedai blah blah. But everything seems to be about humans and those who stayed were predominantly humans - like those who settled in Ossus are human. But those tho yor brought humanoids from all the galxies and they eventually settled on rest of the planet in this system. What happed to all those different species especially that it seems like some of the species had to be later rediscovered even though they were part of the initial orders.
What needs to be acknowledged is the importance the battle of Kashyyk was to the Empire. The Wookie is a "Long Lived" "Warrior Race" ... ... Beating them, on their HOMEWORLD assures their subjugation for Millenia!! ... If I remember correctly, Chewbacca is almost 600 years old. .. .. if he hadn't been forced into slavery ... and to eat sentient beings ... as a form of entertainment...
