Fun fact: the guy who skated between the group at the beginning of the episode was the legendary Bear McCreary, who scored every episode of AoS. Fun fact 2: the opening title sequence was most closely based on a 70's TV show starring Michael Douglas (a.k.a. Hank Pym) called "Streets of San Francisco", which had an episode in their first season called "A Trout in the Milk". Fun fact 3: the red tracksuit Deke is wearing is a homage to the Six Million Dollar Man. Fun fact 4: the blue jumpsuits Coulson and May wear are straight from the OG Nick Fury and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comics. This might be the most Easter egg-filled episode of the show.
One of the names mentioned in the Insight list is Jim Morita who was a howling commando working with Peggy Carter (we can briefly see him in the 2x11 flashback). His grandson is also the principal in Peter Parker's high school which means the Morita family's disappearance could also affect in some way the Spider-man timeline (at least it would if the show was 100% canon). I just love the way the show manages to link everything together and to still make sense :)
Deke calling Simmons Nana is everything to me 🥹 I think this is my favorite shield intro, it's just so much fun! Most of the shots are obviously from throughout the series, but Deke's and Simmons' were shot specifically for this intro. And having Sousa be their fish out of water with the time travel and introducing him to new tech was a great choice.
I love the opening credits for this one. It’s just like the old Quinn Martin TV shows (The Fugitive, The Invaders, etc.) with a bit of Charlie’s Angels thrown in. Very cool.
I love how a lot of people believed Nathaniel Malick to be a more normal/sane Malick because we only saw him in flashbacks. He was a small voice of reason and seemed to have some sort of honer code. Now that we get to spend time with him, your going to see that he really is a Malick.
"A Trout in the Milk" is a phrase that refers to highly circumstantial evidence. It derives from the days when farmers used to dilute milk with water from streams. If a person finds a trout in the milk, they would have circumstantial evidence that the farmer had diluted the milk with stream water, as how else would a trout have gotten in the milk?
They mention why they can’t know where Fitz is at 4:30. If Simmons or anyone on the team knows where Fitz is, and the chronicoms kidnap them, they can hack into their brains like in episode 6x6
Nah I heard that part obviously it’s in the video but it still doesn’t make sense fully that’s why I asked for a better explanation than what Deke said. They already have their brains so that’s what I was asking about, like why does it make a difference if they get to them now vs before?
@@JustGavinBennett Because before they had an understanding of where Fitz was and now not even Jemma knows, so that machine wouldn't extract any information about Fitz at this point.
The chronicoms jumped, which forced the Zephyr to jump, and the Chronicoms then kidnapped Macks parents, and hoped that the shield team didnt have enough time, since its happening this day, to stop it. And if they did, they had now fixed an insurance policy. It was better then to stay in 1973 and give the shield team more time and oppurtunities to stop it. But of course the shield team did end up stopping it anyhow, by just blowing it up, but it revealed their location so now the Chronicoms can come and take them down.
Just realized this season you changed your titles to AGENTS OF SHIELD FAN instead of MCU FAN. I love to see it, aos really is the S-TIER marvel project/show/movie/everything!!!
Daisy and Sousa best new duo! Patrick Warburton was one of the few highlights of S5 for me so its nice to have him back. Did Daisy NOT kill Malick in S3? When they aired the episodes live you didn't get the regular credits with the music so I haven't heard the 70s style ending theme before.
Shield in the 70s is a blast! I wonder if you have theories about what years/decades they will jump to? though you are probably already few episodes ahead and know where they will jump to.
They probably didn't want to shot down. The rocket because it's the Cold War. Fun Fact: The actor who plays Nathaniel Malick this season was also on Echo.
No, daisy defnetly killed Gideon. And what do you mean he doesnt look like his older self, I dont remember you bringing this up before. I feel like young Gideon looks good enough as a young gideon. The Nathaniel actor is new though, he is not the same as season 3.
Back in S3 there were certain flashbacks where I got super mixed up on which brother was which because kid Nathaniel looked like older Gideon Malick. I don’t remember exactly but the entire backstory episode I thought the brothers were opposites
Blowing up insight was not the first option, because as Mack said, it revealed their location. Thats two times this episode, you ask a question at the same time the shows answering it, my guy.😂
I mentioned that in the reaction that “this revealed their location, and now the chronicoms can find the Zephyr.” But I can still say my opinion that this plan was much safer and easier than the one where they gotta dress up in disguises and have the whole team split up lol. Just voicing my opinion on the plan nothing too serious or confusing lmao
@JustGavinBennett Got you, I must have missed that. I feel like it makes more sense to be stealthy and under the radar, because all the chronicoms needs is to destroy the Zephyr and not the team, and they have won since the team can't travel without it. So in a sense the team, or at least parts of it are expandable in comparison to keeping the Zephyr safe.

Why is 2025 and we still don't have the full OST soundtrack of this amazing series!? 😭😭 so unfair!

Well remember, he was also the one that idolized Whitehall, who Gideon thought was a hack. Now we see Nate basically being mini-Whitehall.

Yeah, they say like the exact same time, Gavin asks, lol.

This is more of a wait and you find out question. @@JustGavinBennett

@@JustGavinBennett Like the rest of the comments here, you just gotta wait it out Gavin. Trust the writers🫡.

Marvel Rivals may add her as "Slingshot", which was her original name. Though, in Marvel Strike Force (I think that's the one), they did use Yo-yo.
To be fair within the comics she's more often referred to as Yo-yo Rodriguez instead of Elena Rodriguez
I think we can safely say that this timeline has gone to the dogs.
Omg, completely forgot about Mack's parents 😂

@JustGavinBennett Yeah I guess you said something about opposites. I feel like Nathaniel actor was way to whiny to be Gideon, but I don't know.
