I think that this is Makima literally spelling out how she seeks to control people as a devil. She starts small, studies them, and then manipulates them until they're in the palm of her hand. Great scene.

Yea i dont think this scene is as manipulative as u think. In a way u can read this scene as jealous and desperate on makima's. If anything this is Makima wanting chainsaw man all to herself like she says in the manga. Makima only ever got intimate and violent with others when it related to chainsaw man/denji. And right here she is trying to keep his attention solely on her.
Makima was just trying to protect what she felt was her terf. Every arc in part 1 has her doing just that protecting/dominating her supposed terf in different ways.

Yeah, I mainly remember her from live a live and octopath 2 as Lei and ochette respectively. Both sound different but they’re both not even close to makima.
All I can say is wow.... that is one seductive voice Makima got there and the VA knows how to use it. And it fits her so freaking well.
I would have been visibly tripping over myself just like Denji was.
Chainsaw man was the first Anime I watched in forever, and I'm glad I got to experince more really good voice actors. The tones Suzie Yeung uses as Makima fit the situations perfectly. Chainsaw Man has so much good voices in it.
Damn, they even went back and reanimated the lip movements for the dub. The attention to detail is beyond amazing. But holy shit makimas VA has done an amazing job. This show is otherworldly
Plus we get a new ending for every episode. The amount of effort is insane, and I hope Season two is just as good if not better.

Latino here and I gotta say this voice actress did this scene even better than the OG japanese VA, the transition between sweetness and seduction was impeccably done, japanese Makima remained sweet all the way, while latina Makima kept a bit of the coldness she uses for the voice of this character, english VA was perfectly balances
This is one of the few times when the English dub is honestly better than the original. Makima’s voice actress captured the right amount of seduction, while also having that sinister edge to it.
Remember being told this by a very close friend. Where intimacy is made better through both comfort and familiarity.

She’s got the sexiest dub voice I’ve ever heard. I know she’s Eula from Genshin (also sexy af). But damn, it’s almost like she’s in the room with me. The fact that Makima is doing all this to manipulate Denji and that she doesn’t care about him at all somehow makes this scene and Makima as a character even better and sexier.
Suzie has done very well as Makima. The English dub of Chainsaw Man is on par with the Japanese dub. Can't wait for the next episode with Kobeni losing it in English.

Makima, Denji, and Powers VA's for this dub r perfect, Aki is the only one imo that's a miscast.
Even then, Aki’s voice could be interpreted as sounding deep due to being a smoker, but I do agree that it is a jarring contrast to the original.
I was initially quite put off by Aki's voice, but the more I watched the dub the more I felt it benefited his dynamic with Denji and Power.
