I miss my 2003 E46 M3 with a 6-spd in Laguna Seca Blue. I special ordered it in February of 2003. Only kept it for 3 years. I had the car repainted completely because of the beating it took from hurricane Katrina. Sold it with only 16k miles for a 2006 C6 Corvette. In retrospect I'm not sure that was the best choice. Thanks Ed. Sometimes I forget that my daily drivers are someone's dreams. I'm on my 3rd M3 now a 2017 with DCT.

Just brought an immaculate 530i m sport, 100% unmolested, genuine mpars on it. Individual option extended nappa leather, and slate green of all colours, insanely rare colour in Australia. Less than 24 hours of ownership and some little Asian woman t boned me yesterday.. any bmw from that generation is a future collector car and enthusiast car, that was when bmw had hit the top of their game and haven’t ever since

Hate to burst your bubble but the M3 has a different gearbox and shifter than the 330ci. The 330 has a good shifter, but the M3 is even better!

My 325 had the sloppiest of all time, beamers need chassis mount shifters to get that crisp feel
go drive an s2000 and see what a real shifter feels like

Being a BMW enthusiast of that era, I'm impressed by your knowledge. I had a ASA supercharger on my E36 318ti running 250rwkw before upgrading to a custom M50/M52 2.8L and turboing that. Spent way too much money on the car. Too emotionally attached to let it go.

ive had one for 8 years and i appreciate it more everyday. i think the only car i would rather have is a 997 (and up) gt3, but thats a bit out of my price range still. looks incredible, handle like a go kart, has the perfect amount of usable power, revs for days, and makes an awesome noise...whats not to love about the e46 m3.
I am currently working on my E46 M3 and I will go with the CSL Style Trunk and sunroof delete too, nice call, Ed.
There’s a gorgeous V10 Audi R8 spyder for sale right now at Porsche Fresno. Baby blue with basketball interior and lots of carbon fiber. It’s stunning.

I’ve owned a 04 e46 M3 manual. Watch out for the early engine rod bearings and vanos systems. They are awesome cars.

I think I was looking at this car at Solo in Norcross a while back. Not many red on red. Was wanting a 3rd E46. Ended up getting a 2000 Dinan ISR-3 M Roadster.

My friend have e46 m3, dinan and supercharged. Aa super is 8k and you need more than just the intake ed, you need diff pulleys, fuel injectors, etc..
I have one of these and, yes, It does live up to the hype because it does everything well. Mine is slightly modified for track/mountain road driving and I will never get rid of it.
I still have the E46 M3 poster hanging in my garage I got from the auto show when I was in high school.
When buying old cars like an e46 how do you weigh up age and miles to work out whether it’s thrashed or a good deal?

As someone that owned an e46 m3 (LSB 6 speed) and a 996 (guards red 6 speed aero pkg) for several years, get a 6 speed aero car if something more exotic, yet practical. E46 has a bit more trunk space and back seat room, but 996 has a bit more storage than people give it credit for. Not to mention my 996 was considerably more reliable. If you buy the E46, be sure to drop the sub frame to inspect for cracks and consider reinforcement. Similar story with the 996, make sure you swap in a new IMS bearing.

Bought two range rover classic 2 door in hope of building the perfect one with an ls. Did not live up to the expectations, crap interior with cheap plastics everywhere, rust everywhere etc. Bought a G55 instead. Happy now

Keep it Ed, awesome drivers car way cheaper to repair than your lamborghinis and lots of jam under your right foot. There is a reason our family has 4 of them, everything from convertible cruising car to full blown drift cars. Great chassis that you can just get in and go!

My buddy had one, the transmission went bad and it was sealed to never be opened. It was always not working for what ever reason. He got it used

If you want the greatest sports sedan, there's only 1: Alfa Giulia
These cars are not known for great shift feel, usually the bushings wear, but you might have a good short shift kit on it.
Also, the benefit of a manual swap is that the smg gearboxes (same as manual actually) usually has less wear on the syncros as they are known to be really bad. Mine has bad syncros on 4th since i got it in 2013, but since they really are not replicable and the transmissions are expensive as hell i just drive it til it dies.
BMW should have evovled the E46 platform past it's end in '06. My DD is an '04 330CI with 240000 miles. Still love it. E46 M3's are still drawing big dollars if they're right.
Right now this is my dream car I ran into the posting on dream car exchange and fell in love. It had all the base work I wanted done. But I’ll still searching and saving. Hopefully these prices don’t skyrocket over the next year or two they are certainly on an upward trend.

Holy crap, I was gonna buy this! Ended up buying a convertible E46 M3, completely stock lmao a lot less fun but a lot less of a headache and concern in the longer term with registering it and it having that history.
I have an insanely clean, 90k mile e46 sedan, with the 420g 6 speed from a 2002 m3, AA supercharged, vlsd, etc. An absolutely amazing vehicle, and more than I ever thought I’d have at 20. Along with my 6 other bmws 😅... out of all of them, I’ll be keeping this one until death

Man Ed, I think you nailed it! I have a manual 80 kmi 03 convertible in Topaz blue that I adore and bleed on with my channel at jaysbigadventure. A bit more power would be great, and I've thought about supercharging. As a street car, I don't care about stupid power - but here in Salt Lake City another 50-70 ft lbs would rock.
