Benzin is the first song on Rammstein's album Rosenrot. The idea of creating a song called Benzin has existed since 1999. In March 2004, a song with a duration of 2:58 titled Student was found in the GEMA database. One of the lines sung in the song was "Alle bleiben stehen, alle wollen es sehen", due to this it is speculated that the lyrics were based on Till Das Experiment's poem published in his book In stillen Nächten. In 2005, Paul confirmed in an interview that the song was eventually reworked and subsequently released with new lyrics as Benzin. Meshuggah is a Swedish metal band. Their Combustion Remix shares the same name as their own song. Meshuggah's own song was released three years after its remix. It is not known if the band already worked on their own song and named the remix, or the other way around.
