Pierre, superb W123 buying guide. From understanding the philosophy of the car, the reasons to own one, how to find one and what to look for, this is a valuable resource. I have been driving W123 cars for close to 30 years and still prefer them to modern cars. Lars
Pierre, This is an exceptionally good presentation. As an 1979 300CD owner, I found this an excellent primer/refresher on the car- and why I am absolutely thrilled with it.
I could Listen to Mr. P for hours talking about Classic Mercedes. A Living Bible on the W123 you are. What you gave us was great advice for any Classic Mercedes purchase. I love the W124, and I am not alone. Please give us a discourse on that model, please, Mr. P.
Thank you Pierre! very helpful information and really enjoy your way of presenting your knowledge with candor and humor ! I appreciate your love of these amazing cars.
Just saved a 1979 W123 240D in Topanga canyon from a second owner. She’s a sweet ride! So glad I found your channel. Subscribed. Great video, and insight!

I have a garaged 280ce which I inherited from my dad. It’s not diesel and I may be interested in selling but I can’t find the Blue Book value. I believe it’s an 86 model but I’m also having trouble finding that out as well. It’s been in my garage since 2009 with 13000 miles and hasn’t been cranked up sense then. Where can I find more information on possible selling it and how much it’s worth?
By the way it’s never been in snow. It’s all original including paint never been in an accident. Needs tires because they’ve been setting in garage sense 2009. Please give me some advice as to what I should do.
Great content Pierre, if i hear u , im lucky to have found a jewel barnfound, thanks...ps i heard about a guy who drew a quite big caravan through the Alps...what is the practicality of towing with 240 D? Mine is a daily driver, planning small caravan (1500lbs)to tow....Belgian hills are no mountains😎...can it be done? Thanks pierre!
Was it designed to avoid catastrophic electric failures or does avoid them because it is electrically simple? In their day, they were a decade behind Cadillac, and mid pack with the competition’s technology, albeit more robustly executed e.g., soldered (not crimped) silver plated contacts, discrete individual grounds, etc. Also, they weren’t 100% analog, in my opinion. The hvac, tach amp, dome lamp timer and cruise, systems at least, utilized integrated digital technology. But if those systems fail, the cars still go. Good video, Pierre.
What is that piece of furniture in the background ? I gave a thumbs up not considering the furniture :) Thank you for contributing your intellectual capital!
I have owned three W123's. My current one is "85 300D turbodiesel with 77K kms. Jeez, Pierre, can you get to the point? I don't have 1hr41 to benefit from your expertise. It would be really great if you could tighten up your presentation style.
Hello, if possible, the wiring diagram of the Mercedes engine w124 230e m102982 Send it to me I really need this diagram. I searched the whole world site but did not find it.

Mechanically modifying a W123 is completely disrespecting the engineers who designed it.
