Thanks for a great video. I've seen many demos of this pedal and you're the only one that has played it at low gain. Everyone thinks that Mesa Boogie is just for metal but they're much more versatile than that.
It's important to show the low gain capabilities of a pedal. I don't play Metal exclusively, so I like to see what a pedal can do besides what it was intended for.
That medium gain tone with the Les Paul wasn't half bad! Kind of had a Tool vibe to it. This series of pedals are pretty surprising. I picked up the Steel Singer and it sounds fantastic! For less than 50 bucks? No brainer! Nice video man!
I feel it nails the load and reload metallica tones better than the heavier nu metal stuff. All and all a great buy. Been waiting for this vid and have no idea how I missed it!
I put out a lot of videos, so that might be why you missed it. I find that Nux did a great job with the Reissue line of pedals. Not a bad one in the bunch.
@@TheToneLounge I think the reason being is I bought a tc electronic fangs metal pedal which is great and cheap( u should check it out) at the same time and preferred it to the nux, but after doing a bit of fiddling about with inspiration from your video was able to find a tone on it Iiked 😀
@@si-borg_guitars Dude, that is awesome. I love hearing about how people can get inspired by gear like that. I'll definitely check out the other pedal. Cheers
@@si-borg_guitars dude. The fangs is a very underrated pedal. You can get anything from thrash to fire breathing death metal. I have mine boosted by an mxr modified od, and tube screamer. Get some serious low end and mid chug.
What do you think about the Empress Heavy compared to the NUX Recto Distortion with AC15c1 (except from the price)? I'm searching for heavier pedals for deftones-like sounds with my VOX.
@@TheToneLounge Thanks for the answer! I did a bit of research and the ratings and reviews of the Empress Heavy are highly positive. But I am not sure if it is worth paying 339€ ;-) Should do more research and consider testing at a store I think ;-) Thanks!
I bought it, and wound up returning it. This is nothing approaching “high gain”. You could get by with blues or maybe southern rock, but if you’re looking for high gain, go a different direction.

Thanks for the kind words! I try my best. Have you tried this pedal yet?

Thanks Chris! Looks like I may have to adjust my title as the price on these seems to have gone up (depending where you buy them).
Great demo...even better playing, keep em coming mate!
Thanks! Got more line up for sure. Cheers

Sounds more like a fuzz! 🤔 Thanx for the review! 😎
I have this pedal was pretty under whelmed with it but seeing this video made me dig it👍
That's awesome! What didn't you like about it at first?

I have not tried the Empress Heavy, so I really don't know. Have you tried FB groups or online forums for info?

Is this a pre amp or just a distortion pedal ? Can i use it with cab sim ?
It's a distortion pedal, but you definitely try experimenting with it and a cab sim.

I guess it depends what you are looking for in high gain. If you are going for extreme Metal, then this might not be the pedal for you.
@@TheToneLounge if it gets boosted by tube screamer, you can get sick metal tones outta it.
It's clones a dual rec .... .
You gotta stack it bro i stack a Oneder old blue in front of mine
Then before th okd blue i got an orange kongpressor
Bah, le son est pourri 😂😂😂 ça donne pas envi d’en avoir une … parfois, il vaut mieux ne pas faire de vidéo 😮
ah bon.
