In today's show I reflect on the devastating news that Kevin Campbell has passed away, sharing my memories of the former Arsenal striker. I also discuss the transfer links with Amadou Onana, look at what's been going on at the Euros and respond to some of your questions.

Kevin was truly larger than life. All the kindest thoughts and regards to his friends and family! He's been a source of inspiration for many, and he's certainly going to be remembered as an exceptional example of mental integrity and fortitude by many, many people around the world.
Super Kevin Campbell so sad to hear of his passing what a fantastic player an Arsenal legend a big Arsenal fan like us and what a lovely approachable man he was and a Great football pundit who unlike most pundits he always knew his stuff and spoke sense everytime R.I.P Kevin you will be missed but never forgotten ♥️
If we sign Onana, I think he’ll improve massively under Arteta. He transforms players. I’m all for the signing
I am ten years older than Super Kev and remember watching him play for us. Years later I managed to work in the game doing sports psychology and I gave that up to do my current job which I have done for the past 23 years which is teach children to play chess. In my soujurns around the schools of North London I have met several Arsenal players and I told Kev on here about my time in the game and bumping into Paul Davies and Dennis Bergkamp. I have to say Kev was a smashing lad and it was nice chatting with him.
I have studied Thanatology, Quantum Physics and Consciousness and I can tell you now with confidence that death of the physical body is not the end its a new beginning so I imagine the Big fella up there playing with Rocky and all the lads who have made the translation. God speed Kev and condolences to all of his family and friends.

Have to say, I choked up when I heard Sir Kevin was gone. My best wishes to his family and friends and everyone who loved him. I had the chance to talk to Kev and always checked in on him when he was on Sophie's podcast the Highbury Squad. What an outstanding man who always talked about Arsenal with love, affection, and real common sense.

Thank you for Kevin Campbell tribute. I've never seen such an outpouring of love for any footballer , obviously an outstanding human & a tragic loss so relatively young.

True, and when you think of Kai, someone who wasn’t even inconsistently good at his previous club, if Arsenal go for Onana I’m sure they’ll convert him into a lot more consistently reliable 6.

As much as I was to see the arsenal lads do well in the euros, from a selfish perspective wouldn’t it also be convenient if all our players got knocked out at the group stage so got a few extra weeks holiday before the new season.

Onana is perfect for us. He offers cover for Jorginho and Havertz in midfield and adds more height. People forget how many games we won last year by just being bigger and bullying teams in the two boxes.
Only if he is coming as a squad player. His passing is not good enough to be THE 6 in this team and he is inconsistent which is a big deal in a title team that can’t lose more than 3 games all season. Not sure why he is so hyped among arsenal fans. We need a player that can pass at least as close to partey as we can find. The passing is a big part of playing 6 in our system.
@@theach84 true he wouldn’t play every game but he could share the role with Jorginho where as Party won’t be available enough to offer that option.

Agree with the Onana assessment. He cannot be the only signing. I would love him in our team provided we sign another CM (6 or 8) along with a winger and a left back
I have no worries about Onana’s ups and downs…Everton atmosphere must be tough and hard for a player to stay focused every minute…give him a positive club room and great players around him, he will come good…he would be a good add and £50M is reasonable these days
Charles, I would be very happy to get Onana IF (and it's a big if) we use the money saved to end the transfer window with a superstar winger.
For me, signing a defensive midfielder for the future was our only genuine need this summer. It's the only position we can't wait another year to bring someone in. I don’t think we can rely on Jorghino and injury plagued Partey for an entire season.
Unfortunately, there's no superstar DM in this summer's market. Bruno is good, but I think we'd be grossly overpaying to trigger his release clause. That's Declan Rice money and Bruno is no Declan Rice.
Onana is still only 22. At that age, I am more intrigued by the talent on his good days than the inconsistency (esp on a bottom of the table team). Jorghino, and likely Partey, will be here for another season to teach him the position in Arteta's complicated system (and take any pressure off him early in the season while he learns our set up). He’s the only good value for money DM this transfer window. He’s got the potential to partner with Rice and Odegaard for years to come.

Supposedly, Onana could be bought for 50m? Now, considering he's 22 is still developing and is an absolute physical beast, our CDM would be well and truly sorted.
But my concern is whilst Rice is a good number 8, he's a world-class number 6. So having a specialist number 6 means we may still need a new number 8? 😢❤
Onana is not good enough. His passing is not good enough to be our #6. Rice is just as good at 8. His future is to be our 8 while some games plays 6. When he plays 8 he still uses some of those 6 skills bc he is asked to drop back sometimes and be the 2nd or 3rd center mid depending on the game state. Also some games he just stays back with a Jorginho for example and help with the defensive work. Rice was brought to play the 8.

Conflicted on the Onana links. Limited times I’ve seen him I haven’t been blown away, not sure he’s better than Jorginho tbh (especially after watching Jorgi’s display for Italy). The 3rd centre midfielder alongside Odegaard & Rice needs to be a legit world class player. But then again I’ve doubted Mikel & Edu before and their recruitment has been great. I wasn’t sure on White, Havertz, Raya, Jorginho…and they’ve all been terrific signings. If it happens I’ll get behind Onana 100%.

Re; Onana, its very hard to be a very consistent performer in the middle of a team like Everton, no offence Everton fans, but in a very strong league like the P/L teams are at the bottom are invariably inconsistent . Weather we buy him or not, someone who will have a beast in the making, if they decide to take the plunge.

Hi Charles, the Onana rumours, could Everton’s inconsistency explain his up and down form, possibly in a better team he would thrive. At least an excellent addition to the squad and maybe a player going the other way could sweeten any deal.

9:10 I remember Brighton fans saying the same thing about Trossard, he can be a superstar one game and fall off completely another, which can be true but he was solid all season I'd say. Enviroment is king, I can see Arsenal getting the best out of a lot of players currently.

I like the combo of Fofana (Monaco) and Doue (Rennes) for a similar price to Onana.

Not the first time we’ve heard about Arteta liking Onana, I believe there is a lot of weight behind it and given a ‘fair’ market value I think we see him become an Arsenal player this summer. Some powerhouse of a spine Arteta is creating! All 6ft plus battle warriors who love a duel! Very nice to see

Yea most of the links came Friday night hours after United put their 1st bid in for Brantwaithe. Seems very much posturing by Everton trying to put United under pressure.

Although I agree with most of your points about Onana. The issue Arsenal have is anyone they sign will need to be happy to compete for their position which may not a confirmed starter. I think that central mid position is our most competitive as there’s 3/4 player who can rotate there. Whoever comes in will be starting in Mo’ Elneys position and have to work their way up. If that was me I’d go somewhere I’d be the main guy.
Partey is most likely going. Whoever we signed will be pretty much guaranteed to start
15:06 I would choose 5 Arsenal players for TotT. The usual would be Saliba and Rice. Thereafter, I would choose the underrated and underappreciated stars like White, Ødegaard and Gabriel.
Wouldn't Onana benefit and lift his game by being among a much better squad though? No disrespect to Everton.
Onana is a floor raiser, and I think that’s what the squad lacks. Assume Partey leaves, another CM to come in and get the result. Or start in a game where you need more physicality. I think Jorginho is more likely to be the person playing 30 minutes, to see out a game
RIP Kevin Campbell. The problem with transfers is 80-100 million seems to be the figure that gets you a match ready another level player for a good few seasons.
Anything below that figure is going to require time and coaching.
You look at Havertz and his body language was hunched, hardly looked around, confidence looked non existent when he came and compare him to the last few months of the season and vs Scotland, he’s a different looking player.
My transfer wishlist, Szczęsny, nico Williams. Eze, xavi Simmons, Isak/Toney/Gyökeres (1 of the 3) and Raphinha.

Thanks for the great content as always. Olise is clearly a top top player, but I'm not sure he fits what Arsenal needs right now. We lack the pacy kind of winger in the mold of Neto or Williams. Olise is more the creative one, actually he's very similar to Saka in his playing style imho. If we would sign him, he would probably want to be guaranteed a starting position or a chance to fight for one, and not just be Sakas backup. Where would he start in your opinion? The only place I see him starting is the left 8, and I'm not sure if that's his best position on the pitch.

He @Charles, I honestly feel we should just sign 1 player this window ( a right-winger) because I don't see enough players to fill our NEED available in this market. We need players who will positively impact the game and in this market, I don't see a number 9, 6 and LB who can meet our requirements. I think a RW is possible to get compared to those other positions. We should not find ourselves having bought players that would cost us. Jorginho was amazing and he is our number 6. Partey is still available as a 6. Timber is coming back, Zinny is available, Kiwior and Tomi are also available to fill the LB position while we are looking for that impactful LB. Kai is doing amazing and we have Gabriel Jesus still available. So maybe we should just wait for next summer or January because Trossard proved to be a successful January transfer.
I'm pretty sure that Onana wouldnt be the only midfielfer we sign this summer if we sign him - seems more like one of those "Market opportunities" ... We might use the Sesko money on him and then go for another midfielfer and a winger - the rest will be dependent on outgoings
