Every wedding, funeral or celebration in Jamaica always has curried goat and mannish water...even the nine night and grave digging. 🇯🇲🇯🇲 A soh wi roll!
ln Trinidad and Tobago the popular way to eat rice and dhal is a combo with a sauteed leafy vegetable eg amaranth, taro leaves, bok choy or fried bitter melon
LOL!! Mi love some Curried Goat or Stew Peas, my favourite dishes. But mainly Mannish Wata is for special occasions/gatherins with a tip of rum to celebrate the ancestors. You eat it and don't know what part of the goat you eating, the teeth scared me as a kid. Big up the Jamaican Indians!!
The Indian population that arrived here in the 1840's has been reduced significantly through intermarriage with the black population with Africans, other races and patterns of migration to the global north. Many black Jamaicans have Indian ancestry but even when i look into my family ppl of Indian descent pop up with my great-grandmother, my aunt married a Jamaican Indian man, three of my uncles married women of Indian descent and my brother's common law wife is also Indian but most white people probably can't tell because many of the Indians that arrived were dark skinned or much darker than the ones we see represented on tv today.
As a Jamaican I'm not eating no goat brain or any other brain....somethings I just won't eat. I'm not an organ fan....if its not muscle I dont want it. 🤢
