yeah the Taycan a big car, tight inside, heavy & poor range. Looks & drives nice, but overall not great. Model S still a way better choice. that from a Porsche guy.
@D Wnright I test drove a two year old Taycan Turbo S and one year okd Model S Plaid.....and ended up buying the Taycan. Overall, the Taycan is the best 4 door car I have ever driven, gas or electric and I have test driven. If you drive the Plaid and Taycan on a curvy road, you feel total control in Porsche, and you don't feel the same in the Plaid.....it's simply not the same level of tech in the suspension and steering. Of course I have always owned a Porsche since 1989 so its just my subjective opinion, except a few years in 1999s when i had the true ultimate driving machine from the 1990s, the Acura NSX.

The allure is in the engineering, not necessarily the specific components. It's always been just a transmission and a motor, now just it's a battery and motors.
Until there’s a comprehensive charge network that removes range anxiety these EV’s are just intra-city commuters. I would rather have a hybrid or plug in hybrid.
Don't understand why it's the new macan and not a new model. The same with the 718, especially when the mission R looked so good and at the same time completely different from the 718. This should be, or should have been a new model between the macan and the cayenne.
Jesus i bet the asking price will be 90K plus.....for base. Porsche was killing it with the macan because average joes could pick up base 4cyl Macans for about 65k out the door. These new EV Macans are going to priced way beyond the means of any average joe.
Porsche is NOT intended to be a car for the average Joe. It's a prestige auto for financially successful people that like a performance vehicle. The more mass marketed and the more cheaper version that exist the less allure it has to financially successful people. It's a careful balance Porsche has to play. Mercedes is already ruining it's exclusive purely luxury care maker by offering so many average Joe cars in Europe and including cheap Mercedes model in USA as well... hopefully Porsche is not going down that road.

Internal combustion engines will not be discontinued because the Germans dictate to the EU whatever regulations they want. They were pushing electric cars because they are ahead in the infrastructure from the rest of the EU, but they got a bit ahead of themselves and suddenly changed the regulations at the last moment. They are very opportunistic.
So I'm slightly confused! Will there be an all-new Macan in 2024 completely redesigned or the same model as this year but with small changes? The only new model is the electric.
300 miles from a 96 Kwh battery pack doesn't seem too efficient to me when current technology on other EVs is able to achieve this range with 77 Kwh battery packs. I hope this range is being under reported IMHO.
A Porsche is for performance AND high standard build, not range, effuciency and cheap buildout of Tesla or Kia....nothing wrong with either style, just don't compare apples to oranges
@@friedrichmatthies6065 my model 3 beats a porsche on performance hands down. The build quality of teslas is excellent, just as Sandy Munro from Munro and Associates. Tesla use premium parts in all of their cars, ie 5 bar suspension, the same that is inside top end bmw or mercedes.
@Malla mal I would never consider a Model 3 as it is a very cheaply built car intended for the masses. I went to Tesla showroom and the Midel 3 on display had the incredibly cheap lining on the B pillar already coming off. Are they adverting their lack of quality cintrol?? I am Tesla fan. But would only consider a Tesla Plaid. I test drove a one year old Teslsa Model S plaid and a two year old Taycan Turbo S. The vehicles are night and day difference...both great....one is amazing luxury and prestige as well as incredible handling . The other is even faster, but looks so CHHEAP on the inside....embarrassingly crappy, and after one year, already looked much older. It might be all hyped up but I am not in any hurry for Electric. Faster...who cares when you sit there forever charging it or waiting for your turn to charge it. I'll stick with gas for the rest of my life if possible..even if it means never buying a Porsche.
Couldn't agree more. About to put my order in for a new Petrol GTS to replace my exisiting GTS. Until they develop a performance electric vehicle that has a range of 500+ miles, a charge time of less than 10 minutes and an infrastructure that guarantees finding a station within a 10 mile radius, with less than a 5 minute wait time, I will be sticking with Petrol. Most of the time, unless on road trip you just charge at home, no waiting ever. Road trips are 15-20 mins on a fast charger. I drive EV and it's not the BS everyone uses.
