"make my underwater footage look guuuud " 😁 - very informative! the selfie swim and the cam on the very bottom looking straight up is my fav angle! Also loving the green hair!
That was so cool! In "The unflattering clip" you were floating and fixing yourself up, while the only thing the camera saw was you with your tail just floating like it was nothing! It was so cool! 😆 (Thank you so much for this content, Courtney! You bet I want more, my amazing mentor. I want to be your padawan through this process, 😉)
Despite being a permanently land-locked mermaid, this is a great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I also love the top you’re wearing in the pool shots 💙💙
I’m late to the party but I’ve been DYING for a video just like this! Thank you so much! I’d appreciate any knowledge pertaining to creating mermaid content. 💙
Love the color streaks in your hair! I always wanted to pick up the suction cup attachment since moving to an area with pool access, but I never got around to it.
Yayyy thank you for this video, this is so helpful!!! Learned some amazing things once again from you and it reinforced some things I already was doing 🥰💖🙏 you're the best!!
Woaa ! Thank you for sharing !! Ok, i really need that suction thingie. Really need it And Final Cut & adobe lightroomcolour correction looks fun ! Ill study on that too. Been using Photoshop to edity videos so far. Gaaah !! I love your pool lighting!
I thought I knew everything about Photoshop but I had no idea you could do video editing in it! I actually had to look it up after reading your comment! WILD!
@@CourtneyMermaid those videos can also save as gif animation~ Then, u upload mermaid meme gifs into IG and fb !! Make it your 2023 goal. Cause imlazy hahaaa
Thanks for the video! Your timing is amazing as I was literally at the pool yesterday with my tail and wondered if I could start trying to film my swims. Is there a way to safely use an iPhone to film underwater? I'm a broke college student and can't afford a goPro lol. Thanks for the great content!
I've seen underwater cases for iPhones before but they aren't something I've personally tried so I couldn't say how well it would work. If anyone else reading this has any thoughts on iPhones underwater, please comment! 💖
Brilliant! Great advice for those of us starting out. Can I ask where you got the weights from? I’ve been looking for something similar with no success. 😅
I have one of those octopus tripods and I wrapped a couple legs around a small 5lb dumbbell weight and used the third leg to help support it.I also use a GoPro 9 and love it! I’ll have to look into the suction cup thing. I wonder if there’s something you could construct that’s not too obstructive to give a smooth surface for the side of a pool. The pool I go to doesn’t have smooth tile unfortunately, it’s just a lap pool at the gym and doesn’t have a deep end. For editing I used to use Final Cut Pro but then apple dropped it however I do have Premier since I use the adobe CC for photoshop and illustrator. Do you have recommendations of where to get dive weights? There’s a local dive shop where I live but I’m sure people that don’t have one near would be interested to know some good ones that work well for mermaiding.
I'm getting a lot of questions about my dive weight, but it was a gift so unfortunately I don't know where it's from. I did have to look when you said Apple dropped Final Cut (because YIKES) and I see that it is still available. So I'm a little confused by what you meant, but I'm relieved to see it's still around.
@@CourtneyMermaid I did a little digging and it looks like it was Final Cut Studio a previous version. That was back in 2011, looks like they have revamped the program and fixed compatibility ability issues for the newer OS’s. That makes me happy to hear for Final Cut users! I haven’t upgraded my Final Cut in some time. But I do use Adobe Premier. Both are great programs and what I’m more familiar with using. I love all the microscopic tweaks you can make with the audio and video. I don’t quite get that with iMovie or other standard “user friendly” video editing software.
Cool didn't know they go underwater! That was the most useful purchase in terms of how often it has gotten the shot. Even saved my husband's calculus grade because he had to film his test at a weird angle lol
Great Advice! I'll have to get one of the suction cup mounts now. Also, I LOVE those clear goggles (with the scales on the side?). Can I ask where you got them?
Thank you!!!!! This is what I needed!!! I also have a Mac so I’ve been nervous about if. Go pro would play nice or not! Thank you thank you thank you fishie!!!! 🦈🧜🏼♀️🐋
Note about the suction cups: get the official gopro one! I went through 2 generic knockoff ones before being smart enough to get the legitimate one that actually holds up underwater for several years!
I just mentioned how I would love to find info about recording in a comment in another of your videos, and its in my recs today! Your video makes all this a lot more doable-looking. Kind of had a mental block about filming underwater because I guess I thought you had to be a diver holding 4K worth of good stuff to get a good video.
I like to wear goggles when I swim as well as a Sinus Saver. You can find the ones I use here: www.amazon.com/shop/courtneymermaid/list/2DPPXEQIOZU37/?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_aipsflist_aipsfcourtneymermaid_HXKRP94QPF46EYZYKR43

@Courtney Mermaid, cool,re top. I have some saving to do 😂
I'm in the same boat. I try to shoot underwater clips it's really hard. Know I have to show some kind of certification to swim in the pool 😞😓..
The amount of footage I have of myself winded, treading water with RBF is honestly hilarious 😂 the short, magical clips underwater are worth it!
ME TOO! So much "bad" footage haha! It is totally worth it though!

My little weight was actually a gift so I'm not sure where it's from. Sorry about that! 😅
Greatly appreciated and enjoyed this! I’d definitely watch more videos like this, if you make them 😃

Any tips for filming underwater in the ocean, If I tried sitting my gopro on the bottom it'd float away 😂

0:03 is that Faith in the background? I recognize the tail
How do you set up your camera in bodies of water there's not really flat surfaces there rocks maybe?
Are u use contact lens will swim and nose clip?

I'd love to try some of these techniques but I get the feeling Jean would eat the camera if given the chance.
Should I be concerned about Jean? Who is Jean? 😳
Thank you for the tips! I am interested in starting a mermaid RUclips channel and this helped a lot!🤍
My pleasure! Mermaid RUclips channels are the best! 💖
