  • Inside Saudi Arabia: The People Pushing for Change and Looking for Freedom | ENDEVR Documentary from 2019
Episode 1: In Search for Freedom
In this first episode, we travel across Saudi Arabia and follow the reforms from within for a year. The country wants to diversify its economy by opening its borders to tourism. In Jeddah, many young people hope for change, demanding greater equality between men and women, but the conservative opposition is enormous. One wrong word and they can be arrested. How far do they go in the fight for freedom?
About "Inside Saudi Arabia": Saudi Arabia is well known across the world for its wealth, strict faith and oppression, but while Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman has decreed that it wants to reform, the world is startled by the murder of journalist Khashoggi and other human rights violations. Inside Saudi Africa follows the developments from the inside, through the eyes of the inhabitants themselves.

I think the Saudi public were hoping for some change, so they are attune to the changes taking place. They’re mentally prepared for it, including those who would normally oppose such a change. Hopefully, they should not swap old values for extreme modernism, and adhere to important Islamic injunctions, which was their guiding light since its conception.

Things have changed tremendously. I visited a city called Khobar situated in the eastern province. The place is steadily moving away from the strict and traditional way of doing things. what change do you want us to take? The highest rate of adultery, (yeah adultery whatever you call it) and Highest rates of gay people, abortion, homelessness, rape, suicide, prostitution, and so on in your WESTERN societies WE HAVE ALMOST ZERO RATES OF THEM !!
So tell me Who needs to change ??

Although I disagreed with the views and actions of the conservative preacher Mr Walid, I praise his commitment to moderation and I feel he represents the moderate conservatives Islam which I have the utmost respect. It is not wrong to propagate your faith and seek to advise co religionists to adhere to the teachings of the religion in accordance to tradition if done without coercion and threat of violence. However it is wrong when the coercive force of the State and its monopoly to inflict violence is used to enforce those religions views. As for the " Liberal" portion of the West, I quote Montesque " La Liberte est le droit de faire toutes ce que les lois permettent" Liberty is the right to do all the things that the laws permit. Exactly what Mr Walid said.

1- The BIG problem in m*slim world is that people in big cities are (slowly) opening to progress, but rural world keeps the same in spirit and habits. Modernity is just make-up in the main part of m*slim countries. Also rural world has more birth rate than cities, so...
2- Maybe *slam was OK for Arabian Peninsula tribes in 7th century, but it has no sense out of this time and this region. The more deeps into the knowledge of *slam the more incompatible it looks to development and basic human rights. I recomend you to investigate about *slamic scriptures, history and their founder (not from religious institutions and "dawagandist")

@11.35secs..it quite simple why it is the way it is.. Culture..bottom line. Im one who has been visiting India; Punjab..deep in the villages, and you can't control certain factors, however S.Arabia's culture is not the same when it comes to women.
We have to respect other Country's laws and culture, and western infulence has played a huge factor amongst any 'Taboo'. Culture breeds Culture, so change will come, but it's up to the Country to decide- and remember it's nothing is cruel, it's just about embracing change; an example being females in S.Arabia being lawfully being able to drive and in ref to this vid, Tour Guides. I have to say wow!! This group of Guides speak fluent English, and I mean Fluent! Well done S.Arabia.🙏
