Anyone who wants to indulge in stunning performances, humanity exemplified in beautiful ways, the subtleties of forgiveness as it blossoms unexpectedly and gorgeous cinematography really ought to view this film. The script, direction, performances and really everything about it is exceptional. Powerful!! Thanks to all those who were involved in creating it. I'm genuinely grateful.
This is not just a film, it's a lesson for our lives. At the end of the film, you feel fulfilled. I can't explain it...it's like the film "talked" to me and pass me its main message. This message is not something that you can explain with words, you can only feel it. Thank you Susanne Bier!
*Of course, I noticed that William Johnk Nielsen (who played Christian) has such a bright future in acting. He is so talented!
I will never forget this film. It was one of those films that leaves a life mark in you.

After watching this movie last night, I can understand why it had got the "Oscar Best Foreign Film Award" instead of the Japanese movie "Confession".

im glad there are people like you who can grasp the meaning of such movies.
Just finished the film,it was so raw,powerful,and intense.The acting performances were awesome,so was the cinematography,the danish scenery was just out of this world.
Gorgeous movie.Enjoyed every second of it(well,maybe except for some of the Sudanese parts,they were cruel and scary)
It is weird, how they could go from the title Hævnen, to In a Better World. (Hævnen means 'the revenge' in danish)
In a better world we wouldn't need revenge; but to pretend this is a better world and to act as if it were is to immanentize the eschaton, i.e. to try to make the real world in the image of an ideal one; that always ends in tragedy.
Really, Really, Really good movie!
How and why can you concentrate on what languages are spoken in this film? Seriously, even standing up for it is petty. Ignore that whole subject and concentrate on what is important. That is that this film is masterpiece in every way It is profoundly moving, rich with insight, compassion, a natural progression that leads to understandable irrationality and reactive behaviour from innocents as much as ignorants... Quite a fine balance is revealed here evocative revelations in the end with grace.
