Legend has it Dan once bought a window crank at a swap meet and made a 55 chevy out of it. She's looking good from here! Why don't all the people who tell you you're doing it wrong buy these $1000 cars, start a you tube channel and show us how to do it properly.
Dan, on the windshield surround, use muffler pipe and mandrel bends and cut them in half. This way it's not just flat metal. It will have a rolled edge and look better.
I’m with you on this project! That car was going to rot into the ground anyway, so why not make it into a fun driver quality restomod? It’s a ton of work. You are doing it the right way by using a convertible chassis with the extra bracing. I saw the Overhaulin’ episode when they cut the roof off of the Thunderbird…which is a unibody car…and that thing must have been all over the road in terms of chassis flex. I bet the doors would not open with four people in it! So nice job saving this Chevy. Stay safe and good luck. Looking forward to more videos! Thank you.
How's it going to rot into the ground if someone this competent is restoring it? I cried watching that perfect hard top go! There have to be tons of more suitable donors for convertible conversions!
I admire your attitude Dan.. whether folks admit or not I and others find your work fascinating and helps give confidence to try some out the box jobs ourselves. For that, I thank you!
Danny, ignore the comments. It’s like professional sports. The arm chair experts are always there to tell you what’s what. I love watching what you do. I think you are amazing!👍😎
I am amazed at what you accomplish in you small garage shop with very basic tools! You are definitely an inspiration to everyone that doesn't have the space or a big budget!! Wish I had a fraction of the artistic ability and courage to take on some of the projects that you do!! Always look forward to your videos! Thanks for doing what you do!
Your video's are one of the very few I watch that I wish lasted for hours. They inspire me to work on my car. I'm always looking for new projects. My wife tolerates my hobby but I doubt she'd tolerate a used car lot in our back yard. LOL Keep up the good work. The car is going to be awesome when you're done with it.
It Slices, It Dices, It Juliennes, and its yours ...Lol I think it's great! I always say, if you can't buy what you want, just build it! Great job Danny!
I HATE to disappoint you, but I'm not going to be giving you any hate in this comment. I'm thoroughly impressed with the pace you can maintain and the amount of work you pump out of such a small shop in a residential neighborhood, and this is all nights and weekends after working a FULL-TIME JOB turning wrenches. Most folks wouldn't feel like doing more of the same, after doing it all day! The only thing I envy you for is having the time to do it. I'm a long haul trucker; my shop time is extremely limited. Danielle, you add SO MUCH ENERGY to the channel! The effort put in helping with camera duties and cooking Dan dinner does not go unnoticed by your viewers, and it shows how much Dan appreciates it. You are a Gem! On second thought... I do hate y'all. I HATE HATE HATE HATE YOU... and the Black Widow clone needs six lug wheels! LOL!!!!

Looking at this makes me think of my real 57 convertible upstairs in my barn. First car I bought. Bought it in 73 and last drove it in 78, got sidelined for a few years. When my stepson gets done with the 60 Corvette I bought in 75, last drove in 78 I’ll give it to him.

Totally amazing Dan!!! So cool you are going to paint the frame! One suggestion though, I think you should assemble the drive train and map out the exhaust before you drop the body on, it will give you a much better chance to fit things

Congrats on the convertible frame. That's a great edition to the project. I'm stoked about this project because I've thought about doing this to my 4dr hardtop.
And when the state sent my new title to me they didn't designate the number of doors. It only says Belair under body style. Makes it easy to do whatever I want.
17:35 into the video: In carpentry, the outside-to-inside cut would be called a scarf cut. I think that is a better look than cutting outside-to-inside perpendicularly to the door face. Thank you for the video. Keep up the good work.
