YESS!!!!! NEW EPISODE!!!
@griffpatch Make Roblox pls because your the best scratcher I’ve ever seen
Hi Griff,So you will make the jump to 3d games ?❤
LET'S GO IT'S ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO FROM GRIFPATCH MAN AM I EXCITED
Even after 7 20-minute episodes, the project loads in 3 seconds. Simple code that makes crazy projects.
Mine is really slow, but its just my computer, as every project, even ones that have 2 block run at 2fps in the editor 😢
Great episode as always! Love your work! Your calm voice never even sounding stressed, unlike me when someone's recording.
Ha - I do get stressed when I make a whole lot of mistakes lol - But the power of editing lets me fix that!
You are a good editor 😂
true😅😉🤯@@ByehihiVR
@@ByehihiVR bruh 🗿
@@FireInTheHole69699 what
This is cool, but here's a tip: Normally all modes use the same colors, so in this case the ship should be yellow and blue instead of green and blue
You are quite right... Feel free to make it right!!!
Egg rox
in version 1.0 the ship was ALWAYS blue and green, so technically it's accurate to geometry dash 1.0? lol
@@AndyGun11 yeah its 1.0
@@AndyGun11 I think in 1.0 the ship only had one color of the cube, and was darker, so if the cube was yellow and blue the ship would be dark yellow
Griffpatch is the one person who makes games that look insane but have simple code (And that's good 😁👍)
We like simple!!!
@@griffpatchYeah
i wouldn't say its simple
i make games without too many variables or blocks
Heck yeah! To steal from The Zen of Python: "Simple is better than Complex."
Yesssss
Enjoyed this series so much that I just bought a subscription just to watch it earlier! Thanks!
Awesome, thank you - And welcome!!:D
Griffpatch, could you add some sort of level editor? Like instead of manually making the level costumes, it uses a tile-based system? Maybe even remove the color detection and instead check for which tile we're touching. This would be very useful.
Also I really recommend using the dark blue colors as the theme for the editor. Chome got an update and for me by using the "blue" preset everything looks just incredeble! I took a screenshot of the nav bar, got it's hex value and pasted it into the scratch Add-ons. Really amazing result
Thanks for the tip!
@@griffpatch I could make a post with the colors and screenshots for anyone wondering about a dark, but not black mode
i really like dark purple@@griffpatch
@@-CosmoCode Sure! I don't really like the color change update, so I would appreciate if you posted that HEX!
man! these episodes just keep coming!!!
This tutorial is amazing, can't wait for more forms! Try to add the UFO thingy.
gotta wait till he finishs the levels. He is probably gonna make the level select next
Couldn't wait for this! Also I have noticed that the games are a bit jittery so if you can please add a anti-lag/smooth scrolling script, Thank you :)
I loved it when griffpatch said “Hello fellow scratchers!” and helped many scratchers all over the world!
this is awesome! i cant wait for the next episode. speaking of, when will we get RPG 12?
I may make a raycaster tutorial next?
@griffpatch please make a cloud bullets tutorial next!
i just finished working on episode 6! your doing absolutely fantastic on your work! its like your posting every minute!
Ha, thanks :) - I'm trying to keep the momentum going!
@@griffpatch np! and also scratch vibe (my multiplayer game)'s cloud engine seems to be breaking repeatly! anytime i copy the project it seems that the operation "val=UID" is showing up as true for no reason! would need some help!
well, val WILL equal UID when the game picks up on your own user id in the cloud variables? Then we ignore it...? @@walmart-employ33
Do you have plans for making the other gamemodes? I feel like ball would be quite easy, you just need to flip the gravity variable on press and a bit more. Love your tutorials!
Yes I do
I'm working on an game called "geometry dash but bad" and now that your tutorials about geometry dash are out makes me be in shock.
its honestly insane how your making 20 minute videos of this quality every week
It does rather take all my time up lol
And without missing a single week
I've been following along with this tutorial, and it's quite fun! What i've also noticed, is that 1: you have a mouse click sound every time you, well, click. I was wondering if that was edited in afterwards, or you just have a loud mouse. 2: how long does it take to write all of the subtitles? Yes, if you aren't the man himself reading this, he writes all of the subtitles, instead of using the unreliable auto generated ones. Love the vids, and Scratch on!
I literally waited for the whole week just for this video! (can't wait for episode 8!)
Hope you enjoyed it!
there is a bug that the first time you play, the menu screen particle effect scripts are still running. this causes the particles to be made even when the player is not touching the ground, and twice as many when the player is touching the ground. you do a great job making these.
i've noticed this too and griffpatch responded with 'Check out the comment as I added the new forever loop for the particles'
As always amazing tutorials :D
You egg rox becoming a sponsor
Yo thank you griffpatch!!! What are you gonna do next? Ball, spider, wave? And once 2.2 is out will you make those updates?
Excited for the next episode! (Hopefully costume changing!) Also my levels don't cycle anymore. It just goes through the first two costumes and then it's just a blank level. Do you know how to fix it? Also I followed the scratch studio but how do I post in it?
Make sure you have the full invisible rectangle on every level costume to fix that
This is awesome! You're doing good, keep it up griffpatch!
i'd reccomend making the ship lighter, as in nearly every recreation of geometry dash that I play, the ship feels like it goes downward a lot faster than in the real game. Don't know if you have any control over that, though.
yes actualy in the define ship movement in the if key space pressed or mouse down then in the else you can change speed y to -O.75 OR -0.5 to make it lighter
Also the maximum downwards speed is -10, you can reduce this to -9 perhaps... Bit I think the angle is 45 degrees which is what this gives
Dispite not even using the tutorial watching it is so fun since griffpatches personality is so nice! Great video maybe il follow the series someday but this tutorial is still cool!
I wonder what episode is next? Also, I really hope you continue the scrolling tiles game. It’s been forreevvverrrrrr
I have been waiting for this tutorial for a long time. I always wanted a space-ship mode in my geometry dash levels. I tried to find a tutorial, and I found your Geometry Dash video. I excitedly watched it to understand how to make a good geometry dash - with ship.
Amazing episode! Always excited for it :)
Glad to hear it!
Thank you Mr Griffpatch for your amazing content I wish you happiness in your life and success ❤
You too!!!
e
I noticed that the small particle effects are still spawning at the player while in mid air, even in regular platform/cube mode. I suspect it is because you added the particle effects to keep spawning at the title screen. This is noticeable at the beginning of your video. I assume this is a mistake, or intended? I am sure you could fix this by simply checking if the project is on the title screen menu, or in game mode.
Otherwise, great video! Do you plan to eventually go to the new contrast blocks fully in future videos, or stay consistent with the old colors as you said in this video?
Looking forward to more of your amazing tutorials! :)
griffpatch used an forever block in the player sprite so the particles keep on spawning forever the way i recommend to do it is to create a new varibale named play for all sprites and set it to 0 when flag cliked and instead of a forever block use a repeat until play=1 and go to title sprite and in the when this sprite is clicked set play to 1 and there you go it should work cause it worked for me
Check out the comment on screen when I added the forever loop for the particles ;)
You should make a review project soon of what happened so far and try to beat the full stereo madness on scratch! :D
To be honest the new high contrast looks so odd when you get used to your own custom setup. I use a slightly darker color than the original and the dark text option. Basically high contrast, but with smaller contrast
It really does for a while, but on a HDR screen you quickly get used to it and it is easier on the eyes
This is so awesome! The ship gamemode is the second most important one so this is one of the most crucial! I wonder what’s next! 😮
Griffpatch, I got a question, how many episodes will there be, because I want to show my friends and I can only do it when it is uploaded?
Small thing I'd like to add. In GD, usually there are bigger particles coming out of the ship when you hold down the spacebar. Just wanted to point that out, so you can spawn bigger particles in case the spacebar is being held down.
Amazing video as always!!
The title is the famous phrase that little kids would say.
Great tutorial! Can’t wait for episode 9!
Now I think you need to create the other gamemodes.
cube: done
ship: done
ball: tap to switch gravity
UFO: tap to jump, either in mid-air or on the ground
wave: basically the ship but it's a zigzag
robot: basically the cube but holding makes it jump higher
spider: basically the ball but it teleports you instead
swing (not released): tap to switch gravity either in mid-air or on the ground

I am waiting for new levels like back on track, jump pads and jump orbs! Amazing video
Hey griffpatch. what is the transparent hitbox in the ship costume for? I didn't use against for background fencing.
Hey dude, I could help with visuals. It would speed up production because you wouldn't have to do it, I could! I know you usually work but, I'd just like to ask. Other than that, im glad we're now adding transformation/abilities to the game! I guess the next episode could be level complete animation, the player hovering off the ground and hitting a glowing wall and exploding!
i hope episode 8 comes out soon! but also when will you do the level selector or the bounce pad and bounce ring?
Soon enough I hope
I already added the bounce pad to mine.
Hey @griffpatch! Amazing video! This video really enhances my game a lot! Thanks! I have a request. Can you put all the levels of Stereo Madness (including ship mode levels) in your asset project too? It would help a lot! I've also found a bug. When we click the play button, the particles follow us when we jump! This bug is only resolved when I die and re-spawn. Can you find a fix to this, because I can't! Once again, amazing video!
I have looked for any scratch RUclipsr and you are the only one's coding I understand😄
And also, Keep it up with good work
Excellent
OMG this is so cool so far! are we goanna add the wave, and the other ones next?
Another goated video from griffpatch 😊, i wonder if its possible to make a tile gird editor for this gane to add all the objects instead of making it in editor, because i am thinking of doing that for my game
This is awesome! Cant wait for the next episode.
If I would make this myself, 1 block from griffpatch would be 8 blocks from me. So technically 100 blocks in griffpatch's project is 800 blocks in mine.
As always, Griffpatch makes another brilliant tutorial
Question: When Geometry Dash 2.2 comes out, are u gonna make tutorials on some of its features? (swing gamemode, reverse, platformer mode etc.)
Awesome episode! i wonder, are you ever going to add onto the side scrolling (mario) series
Good question - I always planned to make another episode - Only it's got a bit delayed lol
@@griffpatch Oh awesome!
Point in direction: {90 + [speed y * -4]}
acheives the same ship effect, and you can replace that -4 with anything you like and make hilarious wildly turning ships (which make straight fly much harder) or even make ships which turn in the opposite direction of where you are going. Plus it makes the code a lot simpler!
I very love your projects! Have a nice day!
Wow this is awesome!
Glad you think so!
Alr I fixed my problem in ep 6 and completed ep 7 and made some improvements and my games looks better than ever! And there’s a small glitch, whenever we jump the particles should not emit since we’re in the air but when we start it the particles still emit when we jump but when we die and respawn it doesn’t emit when we jump?
Scratch should hire this man!!!
Have you considered using individual tiles for level building instead of costumes? Im currently making my own geometry dash game and found the best method was using pen and lists
you should make a tutorial for a platformer, but with swinging on ropes and grapple hooks and gliding and stuff like that, or maybe just a rope physics tutorial
This is straight up amazing
My suggestion for episode 8 is
-still scrolling the background
-menu for changing icons
-another gamemode and
-lastly selectable levels
Note: also Griffpatch I manage to switch back from ship to cube just by duplicating the if touching color script and change the color and change the same portal to green
Perfect!
Thanks @@griffpatch!
its crazy how the level syncs with your outro music
Add a creator tab, Now THAT would be amazing.
Edit: Griffpatch I love your videos and want to ask you to make an icon selector too!
I went ahead and added a whole bunch of extra things to my geometry dash like a skin selector, settings, stats, pause button, score counter, fps counter, a counter which shows your best score, sfx and volume sliders, a scrolling background and added very shiny and good looking menu buttons to add some spice to my menu and also in the original geometry dash in the menu the background and floor change Colour so I added that and that’s it I hope that sounds cool enough for me to look like a legend at scratch even tho I’m not
I also made not just ship mode but also the others: Ball, UFO, Wave, Robot, Spider. I even made the portals for them including Mini/Size, Mirror, Dual, and Teleport. Can you make tutorials for those aswell? I hope it's possible.😅
Can’t wait for the next episode!
Can't wait for the spam clicks level!
Later
1. How to make editor
2. How to customise icons
3. How to make Ufo, Ball, Wave, Spider, Robot, Swingcopter
4. How to make more levels selection
5. How to make triggers in editor
6. Platformer mode
Since every level is split into different costumes in a sprite it's technically impossible to create an editor with the setup, if he was to change it then maybe it'll be possible.
I used to watch griffpatch long ago, nice to see you still doing great
Amazing Tutorial! I have a question though: when I get high and then fall the ground seems to duplicate.
i found bag, if you hold space in ship mode, you can go as high as you want
I did mention that in the outro of things to add
ive been waiting!
And it has paid off!
“locking the vertical scrolling to a single height”
Personally, I’d just use Free Fly Mode.
7:36 - 7:42 I was actually about to click on part 8 but you said ‘only kidding’ 😂
Really! You almost fell for it!😂🤣😂
Are you gonna make other gamemodes as well? For example the ball, wave etc.
That would be fun right?
in the end of geometry dash series Griffpatch will say "hello fellow scratchers today we will make unity in scratch 😀
Nice explanation and thanks for helping me with my games in Scratch! 😃
Cool, can't wait until we get to the Wave lol
Just a question, why did your block colors change?
I just wanna say, wicked drawing skills. The wee ones should be like you.
I'm still waiting for Ep.8 to become available to the public. Your videos are too good I can't wait 😅
It’s out if you haven’t seen it yet
do yellow orb next time plz, this guy is amazing in making scratch tutorials, thank you griffpatch!
0:38 You have so many messages! 🤣❤
Finally a ship tutorial!!!
This is very cool, but i haven't gotten around to making gd in scratch yet, but i sure will (hopefully soon)
@griffpatch why 8th episode is member only pls reply
Are you gonna make every gamemode in this series
Yay im excited 😊
Just something I noticed, when you die in ship mode, the death animation uses the cube icon. Easy fix, just saying incase you missed it for your next video :)
I did miss that :)
20:36 the reason this works is because atan changes a fraction into an angle, i.e. 0.5 becomes 180. speed y / SCROLL SPEED is the direction, and adding 90 makes it point forwards
Nice:)
I've made gravity portals by multiplying the speed y variable by a gravity variable and swapping top and bottom ground collisions hope this helps.
I have the ship mode done...
and the WAVE mode as well so yeah thank you so much griffpatch 😁😁
i won’t forget to give credits to you as well 1:15
I just want to say something and thats you are an amazing person helping people for happiness the world is better with you in it
By adding the particles in the Green Flag block with a forever loop, aren't we now doubling up the particles during game play? It seems like it in the short clip of the ship game mode following.
Yep - Until you die and re-start - My bad - I did but a comment in post production when adding the loop that we also needed a "when I receive Reset Level", "stop other scripts in sprite" in the player sprite to fix that
Ah yes, I actually missed the big obvious annotation there. Ha!
please explain background colours changing smoothly with each level . also how do i add a mute button for songs in the game
Really, you're the best scratcher of the world men, you'te better than the rest!
