This is wonderful Jamie. I love the Waldorf approach to mathematics and as a Waldorf teacher, ex now, but still helping out, I would have loved to have seen this video earlier. However, more needs to be done by the teachers to understand this and research. Some resort to the text book and work sheets because they worry about the time it takes to penetrate a subject. What do you feel about that? I also had a stint in the UK schools and was impressed by their approach to the use of concrete materials and their approach to mental arithmetic. Learning these procedures helped me Waldorfise many of these. We need more of you. Thank you. Watching videos is a great way to research the subject. Will look for more.

I wish i could be a kid and start over. Unfortunately, i can see my child's waldorf school ruining math for her by subscribing to box-ticking rather than deeper guardianship. Trying very hard to keep it alive for her.

Forgetting is inevitable! Ever taken a foreign language class? Mastery comes with ability, understanding, use and maybe most important... interest in the subject! Nice thoughts however reality "kicks in"! 🙂
