It's the width James lol. The width makes it ride like a much bigger board. There's no mystery here.
Seems you missed me saying I compared this against other Yes short wides (Hybrid n Y) with almost the same width and they turned easier/didn't feel as big.
It's not just the width. The concave shape of the hull causes a Venturi effect, creating a pressure gradient that causes the board to float.
