Most Dolphins' fans live north in Broward and Palm Beach counties. The stadium location area is perfect because of this. Marlins retractable stadium should have been built nearby for the same reason. Historically, Dolphins stadium is located in an area nicknamed the 'Bahas' or spelled 'Bajas' in prior unincorporated Carol City, with a Miami address, even though Miami proper is over 8 miles to the south. Currently, it lies within incorporated city of Miami Gardens because before stadium was built, the area was barren cattle farmland with dunes like Baja California, Mexico, and Sahara desert with no lights at night and dirt bike riding in the daytime. Rapper Rick Ross is from this area. Considered one of the toughest areas in greater Miami Dade County.
The hilarious irony is that no matter how bad this stadium might be/have been, there are people like Peter King who would still call for the Super Bowl to be played here every year just because they want to spend that one January/February week in Miami.
I saw the "redux" in October of 2021 and I thought they nailed it, really nice job. The first time I went to a game there was 1990 and man, that Sun was something else!
@smokey_gator_239 - Nice point, but I'd like to think of Lambeau as a unique renovation, with its rich history. Hard Rock is more modern, much more recent. I compare it to the other more modern NFL stadiums, like Bank of America stadium and Jacksonville's stadium... 🤔

Really great breakdown man. I like how other Florida sports teams are looking into copying the canopy design if Hard Rock Stadium, I think its extremely functional in that state
I call it by its original name, Joe Robbie Stadium. Joe Robbie and Danny Thomas were the owners of the Miami Dolphins and I believe by the time that this stadium was built, Joe Robbie was the principal owner, so he paid for it without any public financing and put his name on it. To me, the baseball setup is the opposite of what we used to have in Detroit at Tiger Stadium, however this place has about 22000 more seats than Tiger Stadium had, didn't originally have any grandstand roof and little overhang between its four decks. In Detroit, we had the stacked decks and a field overhang on the right field side by the second deck as well as a small rooftop deck around the southern half of Tiger Stadium. Joe Robbie Stadium had to retract their left field side lower deck and the second through fourth decks almost, but not quite overhung the field, but were about flush with the raised left field wall known as the Teal Monster with its embedded scoreboard. When they played a Super Bowl here, it was during a thunderstorm (at least during the half time show it was raining quite heavily), and Prince was playing his electric guitar and singing. It is something that he wasn't electrocuted during this show, hence the need for a retractable roof in these Florida stadia and ballparks.
Ironically, the designers of the Silver dome asked the Tigers if they wanted to play there. The Tigers said, "No", so they kept it strictly as a football stadium.
It was built as a multi purpose stadium prior to the trend of baseball and football only ballparks there is no issue here. By the time the Marlins came in 1993, that ship had sailed by then and was considered obsolete but between this, it was before the trend.
You missed one of the biggest parts of the renovation. They entirely reconstructed both lower level sideline grandstands moving them much closer to the field.
Not sure if agree on this stadium being a disaster..it was product of its time when built, privately financed, it allow south Florida with a venue to successfully get an MLB team (I do not think they anticipated the marlins to play there as long as they did) and it got a major renovation that gave it new life. Not to mention it has hosted almost every major sport event we have. I call that a success my friend.
Here’s something you may not be aware of: during construction, the builders discovered this was an Indian burial ground. They had to come to an agreement with the local tribes to utilize the land for a stadium. The trade off was to leave strips of grass on the western side, and a few other places, in order to honor the history.
The only stadiums he likes are LoanDepot Park and Kaseya Center yet Hard Rock aka Joe Robbie is the most packed and top rated stadium down here in south Florida and the one of the Tops in the NFL
I loved the dimensions for the Marlins you had to configure your outfield for speed (Juan Pierre) and the Teal Monster if you hit one out at Joe Robbie you earned it

Joe Robbie was a brilliant owner. Never used any tax monies to built it. When it open in 1986, it was the "gem" of the NFL. You should do a video on Inter Miami needing a roof. I have been a season ticket holder from the beginning (3 years pre- Messi). We get so many weather / lightning delays. You didn’t care as much when you spent $25 on a ticket but when you spend $200 plus … problem.
You keep mentioning that Raymond James Stadium is getting a roof. No it's not, nobody is talking about it, and nobody ever has, and it's not gonna happen.
This stadium was flawed from Day 1. The stadium is a big bowl with no air circulation; there's no breeze to cool the fans. Consequently, you feel like you're sitting in soup, it's so miserable. Prior to canopy installation, the acoustics were terrible as well. Fans could be going nuts, screaming at the top of their lungs, but it wouldn't result in any kind of home field advantage like in Kansas City or Minnesota because the sound wasn't kept in the stadium. Once they put the canopy on it kept the sound in the stadium, but it also kept the heat in. Overall, the stadium was bad from the beginning and the recent improvements only made it slightly better. They should put this place out of its misery and start over.
Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, is a good example of an outdoor stadium that is very loud. It has an overhang roof that protects most fans from rainy weather while the playing field is open to the elements. The seating decks and partial roof trap and amplify exceptional amounts of noise and reflect it back onto the field. That is why the Seahawks call their crowd the "12th Man," a term that originated in the Kingdome. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumen_Field#Home_field_advantage
But the for the Marlins won two world series 2 at that stadium so wasn't too bad for the Marlins keep up the great content and have a great week the depressed Ginger
The fact that the Marlins won the World Series TWICE playing in an outdoor stadium in conditions I say are worse than in Texas is why I will forever call BS on the claims the Rangers needed to leave The Ballpark for the roofed country club they now have.
It seems like it'd be relatively easy to simply put one of those glass roofs on top of the open area, similar to SoFi Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, and the new Titans place in Nashville. It's all the rage, after all, and they could get rid of those teal spikes. The thing that sticks out like a sore thumb to me is the parking lot. Holy moly, that thing is enormous, and absolutely disgusting. I don't know if there's any place downtown for them to go, or closer to Marlins Park, but places like this, and the old Qualcomm stadium, and Gillette and Dallas and Arizona....such a waste. It's even worse because it's Miami. Who wants their car to sit out in the sun for 4 hours? Build some parking structures, and with all of the leftover land, do an entertainment complex, some condos, offices, etc.
This you-tube is just a bunch of click bait. Just an opinion piece from somebody whose job is to give opinions. The stadium is not ''perfect" similar to the situation at most other stadiums, but disaster is an overreach (my opinion!). I have attended many foorball, soccer, and baseball games there and the idea of it being a disaster is far from my experience. Too much capacity is always an issue in arenas, but unless you put cardboard dummies in the seats, you are just seeing the reality of the situation. Who is looking at empty seats during a game anyway. You are there to watch the game, not the seats.
Bad lighting for night games and bad weather for Marlins games. A new stadium for the Dolphins if it happened should be indoors with grass. Marlins need to wear the teal and black again and be the Florida Marlins.

The stadium broke ground in 1985 which means the designs were finalized around 1982-1983 when multi-purpose stadiums were still in “fashion”.
