I have this in satin and love it. You should review the 000-16 streetmaster too. Everyone tells me the one I have sounds like one of the best guitars they have heard.
oh, and I agree with your last take that price and quality are not equally comparable, especially past a certain price. I usually prefer a standard D18 to a MD D18 for example. Also, sounding twice as good is a HUGE difference! Even 15% better between a 5K guitar and a 2K guitar would be huge. But sound is so subjective and also so complex. There's too many variables to compare. Usually one guitar's strengths are another's weakness and vice versa...
I enjoy these casual reviews... This is a different D18 to the one you played 6 or so months ago... check the pickguard for differences. That's why it sounds different... In my experience and opinion, especially in the standard series, mahogany b/s guitars are consistently better than rosewood about 4 out of 5 times... but... That 1 time, the rosewood guitar will blow all the mahogany guitars out of the water. Now, in authentic dreadnoughts, I am consistently more impressed with rosewoods... but that's usually Guatemalan rosewood which imo is superior to EIR...
I loved that guitar
Im a mahogany guy myself. Love the 18 series

Yeah, it's amazing how different rosewoods from different countries sound. I can't believe I didn't notice it was a different D18 🤣
it's because of the humidity in the room changes, dryer guitar sounds better , it needs a truss rod adjustment for buzzing
if it was out of case hanging on the wall, winter is a low humidity time
your comming out as mahagony guy ;-)
lol can't deny it anymore
You are. Eliminate the "a" by substituting an apostrophe. You're. Perfect. Coming. One "m". Just saying.
D18's are great
