This was the conclusion to the greatest hardcourt trilogy in tennis imo. The first 2 matches were the best, but level displayed was incredible from both.
Not quite. The two met at the US open 2016 final where Wawrinka beat him in 4 sets.
@@TheseHoesAreLoyalhe’s referring to the AO trilogy.
They also played an epic match at the US open 2013. That match is often forgot about, perhaps because neither won the final. But that was up there with the AO 2013 and 2014.
@@TheseHoesAreLoyal Well I meant the AO trilogy which all went to 5 sets, but I know Stan beat Novak at the US Open though.
@@mikemoggerson6651us open 13 match wasnt that good . In terms of quality 2013 AO was definitely the best(one of the best ever in terms of baseline ball striking) although wawrinka choked a bit in that one .
The start of the greatest season ever
This is some great editing no commercials no hanging around, decent commentary. AO is on point.
Always a pleasure to watch the GOAT Novak Djokovic 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Yes, it absolutely is.
8 years later one of them is barely winning 2 matches in a row and the other is stil on top and winning slams 🔥👍🤌
Nole on 2015 was unstoppable
I think so but what a performance by Stan in RG final !
Stan and Federer say otherwise
I remember watching this match very well as a 13y/o, I knew Nole was going to win not before he went through some temptations as always throughout the 2013 to 2016 period with Stan, but i was sure he was bound to win this match and boy did he smash him 6-0 in that fifth set i enjoyed it a lot. Hoping he wins his 11th AO soon 😁
"Temptations" not the right word here in English. I'm guessing you maybe meant "ordeals"? Temptations in English means things that tempt you to do questionable things. It doesn't have the sense of "ordeal" in English.
@@th8257 temptations are things that make your time hard. For example Stan gave Novak a hard time in sets 2 & 4, also in set 5 in the first game and at 4-0.
@@velekorunoski5997Novak would never be “tempted” to lose sets to anyone.
@@DomonationYT You didn't understand my meaning either. I didn't say he was tempted, i said he had a threat, a challenge, a must face temptation before he could win the match. Good for him he stayed strong in set 5
@@velekorunoski5997 a temptation is, by definition, something that tempts. you said temptation.
i dan danas nole je car stan je fantastican
Can’t believe Stan got his lick back for this match at Rolland Garros that same year 😭 one of Novak’s most heartbreaking losses
No player is perfect, and all the big 3 have had their fair share of duds and underperformances (especially Federer). But Wawrinka was always a tough matchup for Djokovic in grand slams, and he was the better player on the day despite a good performance from Djokovic. To me, the real heartbreaking performances for Novak came after the stretch of dominance from 2011-2012 AO. He lost the 2012 FO final (to Nadal which is understandable), but then he lost the lost 2012 US open final to Murray, 2013 Wimbledon final to Murray, and 2013 US open final to Nadal. These are sometimes forgotten but I would say these 3 finals along with the USO 2016 and 2021, these were those most disappointing and subpar performances in slam finals in his career. It’s a lot easier to accept a loss when you play well but the opponent just played better, such as RG 2015 or Wimbledon 2023, or all those French opens to Nadal.
Novak won rg 2016? so i guess the heartbreak did only last 1 year. Am i wrong, did the heartbreak last longer than that?
@@scottwarren4998He won the very next tournament he played after that (Wimbledon 2015), so it didn't last very long.
Finally this match was uploaded...it's weird that the 2013 match is here and I think the 2014 one but not the last of the AO trilogy.
EDIT: 2014 QF isn't uploaded, what gives? 😅
I would like to request gilles simon vs federer. That time when Simon went five sets and almost knocked out Federer in the second round of the tournament. That was crazy
