I have never heard an NPR audience SCREAM like that at the end of every song. This is the biggest reaction I've ever heard for a Tiny Desk Concert, and for good reason. GOOD GAWD that was funky!!
For those who don't understand the Spanish language, don't worry because his lyrics are full of very Cuban phrases that even other Spanish speakers outside of Cuban culture would also find a little difficult to follow. And that is precisely the strength of this talented composer and singer. His lyrics are very, very Cuban and that rhythm where he combines Cuban-Caribbean rhythms and American Funk is extremely contagious.
Am i the only one that is obsessed with his lady backup singer?!?! Like shes amazing! Shortee has not missed a beat, she pulled the trombone out killed it! AND i need someone to pay attention to this melanin and dreads 😍. But wait AND she cuban?!?! 😮. D.O.P.E!!!!

Just saw them last night in San Jose. Best live performance I’ve ever seen. The energy, how tight everybody was playing, the style….absolutely amazing. I would pay $100 just to see them play again.
NPR has very slowly but surely become my 1st call source of refreshing news about undiscovered and established musicians, with such a variety that is so welcome....One is never sure what to expect. And these live recordings always have a fresh vibe on whatever the artist portrays in their recorded work. Sometimes better, sometimes worse...always fresh.... I definitely loved this one...

Saw this group on Austin City Limits and wanted more so I hopped over to NPR and of course they are here! You cant help but dance to their music , even if you can't dance, you will be!
It’s Cuban music, when he started off he was singing “blame it on me”, the first song he was singing a song about cooking a woman food, second song he was singing about finding something beautiful in life and over coming all the negative that one may be dealing with, and the last song he was singing about leaving to go to his home, finding nothing interesting outside, and also adds in that if a woman asked him over he’d go over to their house too if allowed or something. That’s pretty much the only things I could come up with from what he sang/said.

Saw this phenomenal band at Millenial Park summer of 2022, the sun was setting behind the Chicago buildings, and at the end of their set, they called the whole audience to come to the stage and dance with them. Until today one of my top 10 moments in life, truly a magical experience.

I saw them live in Rhode Island... absolutely phenomenal and sooo much energy live. They were putting their hearts into it and had space to move and dance - lets just say this vid is a very “contained” version of them - nonetheless love the energy and hope to see them again soon 🧡

Went to their show in Chicago with some of my best friends and we’re impatiently awaiting the day they come back. The best show we’ve ever been to, the best energy, and we were brought on stage at the end. Absolutely amazing and unforgettable
y ademas son excepcionales personas. En un evento en vivo en La Habana empezo a llover a la hora de empezar el concierto y los productores empezaron a cubrir los equipos de audio. Todo el mundo se quedo mojandose esperando el concierto y ellos salieron a tocar sin audio y bajo el aguacero. Sobre el 2018 en El Sauce. Eso no lo hace (casi) ningun musico !!!! Also, they are outstanding people. In a live concert in Havana, El Sauce place at 2018, it started to rain and the producers preserve the audio equipment with covers. Nobody gone and the band began to play without sound system. Sensational!!! Today, many few musician does that. AND SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH !!!!

I saw Cimafunk last night in Chicago. One of the top 5 bands I have ever seen and I have seen all the greats. These guys are incredible!
