I really like how you said that eating more hearty and normal meals like a burger and fries should be normalized. I’m in my second recovery now after sadly relapsing about 7-8 months ago. And since is my second time going through recovery I am being way kinder to myself and genuinely honoring every single craving and hunger signal I have. I’m also 20 and I come from Hispanic descent, a lot of our foods are soul and hearty. Lots of rice, beans, meats, and delicious earth grown veggies. the reason I mention this is because I believe that everyone’s bodies are different in the sense of the food they grew up with. When I started recovery again, and eating my moms home cooked meals, my body felt way more satisfied and I felt way more connected to it then when I had my eating disorder. i think that everyone’s body is catered to their childhood foods if that makes any sense. I find myself craving childhood meals and snacks all the time.

We do actually absorb more nutrients from foods we're familiar with (I believe they did a study with Thai vs Polish people and their traditional dishes - they absorbed more vitamins from their own country's food). I'm not trying to invalidate you or suggest you shouldn't try anything new in the least, but your comment about being tailored to childhood foods reminded me of it. All the best for your recovery! @@evajones1833 thank you so much Eva. I knew I wasn’t going crazy because I see in retrospect that I feel a lot more energetic, happier, and less stressed when I eat the foods I grew up with. when I was smaller I was also like a little baby crossiant I was the cutest little chubs. So naturally I think my body has held on to most of the baby fat from when I was younger which honestly doesn’t really bother me at this point in my life thankfully. thank you Eva 🙏🏻🤍

Love it! People who have recovered or are recovering from an eating disorder are the role models we need in society. No more diet culture, no more food rules. Follow your intuition, be spontaneous around food and exercise. You can only survive with an eating disorder, you can’t live with one. It’s not living. I wish I was as recovered as you, but I have faith that I won’t be living in bulimia’s trap forever.

Thank you for your honesty. Recovery is very hard. My ED started as a teenager and extended right into my late 40's. I still fight it every day but my body is battered. Now diagnosed with CFS. Fibromyalgia and b12 deficiency. I have had eye problems like retinal detachment and macula haemorrhage which could account for poor diet and bulimic tendencies in the past. I struggle with depression and decided I have to take my control back. Anorexia has controlled me for too long. I struggle with the weight gain but have to remind myself that in order to function physically and mentally I need fuel and nutrition. Like you I do not check calories on packets and do not weight myself often now as that was an obsession. Your doing amazing and your story in recovery is so inspiring. Thank you for all you do for others. Your so appreciated. Xx

I'm so happy that there's someone like you on this platform, that finally puts out a real version, I'm sure it helps so many people. not only in seeing, what a normal day of eating looks like, but also, that you should listen to your own body, what it's demanding, and to fuel it and be kind to yourself and not follow a plan of another person, with a different body, that has different demands and wishes...

0:35 this is so important.. for a long time i started to think smoothies were the norm for healthy bodies and it made me feel guilty having an even *slightly* bigger breakfast - then even guiltier for feeling more hungry later when i did "achieve" a smoothie for breakfast 😢 it's so horrible, i'm so glad for re-learning about health and for seeing more content pushing back against this, thank you! (of course some days we don't feel like a big breakfast and that's fine! but it's when this idea of a tiny breakfast becomes so common that it teaches young kids the wrong thing)

I think it's important to remember that what I need to fuel myself and what you need could be very different. You made a point of saying this is what YOU eat in a day, and we have to trust that most influencers doing these videos are also eating to their own needs and that we shouldn't necessarily judge them for how they choose to eat?

I'm 3 minutes in and oh my god I could *WEEP* right now -- y'know when you needed a particular message, on a particular day, after a particular week? That's what this video is. I'm at the start of my recovery and have a helluva lot of weight restoration to go / am struggling to wrap my head around it all tbh. Seeing the number change is still excruciating to me, and I'm still holding onto far too much control to try to slow the process. So much of my fear centres around the unknown, as I've not weight restored since getting ill 5 years ago; your video last week was (again) a bit of game changer, and has really helped me understand what I'm *actually* in for (the more I know, the more reassured I feel). I keep coming back to it, over and over again. And now this!! I've been struggling SO much with IG recently -- the algorithm's being a bit of a bellend and throwing constant FDOE content my way. It's all super clean, and super small, and it's making me seriously doubt whether there's a life out there that *doesn't* involve careful restriction and management of food 24/7. I hit such a low today, and so this video is everything I could have asked for. Thank you, Ro; I know I'm literally a faceless stranger in your comment section, but please know you have impacted my life and my recovery in such a meaningful way.
