    Wish I were there. No canals in New Jersey (to speak of) so I'll never narrow boat here but hang in there! These projects always take longer than expected but you'll have such a wonderful home when you're done.

    Great to see you both back and well. Take your time. You seem to work well together and enjoy yourselves. You'll never finish a boat fit out. It's like the Forth Bridge and there is always something to do. That's part of Boating and why you couldn't separate my Husband from his narrowboat with a Big Bomb.

    This was a great episode with the glorious passages of Emma, the lyrical directions of Saxon and Phil’s oratory. Great efforts in sound quality and lighting. My favorite bits were :
    The haphazards of triangle reinforcements
    “Bow thruster locker”
    “Soon is an elastic concept at the moment.”
    “We’ve been puting off this job for a long time because we knew it was going to be a bugger”
    “Greener and grubbier and had a dead fish on it. “

    So nice to see you again and the progress that you’ve made on the boat. Fitting out the boat around full time jobs must be incredibly difficult so I take my hat off to you, I think you’re doing an amazing job! I know it must be hard going at times but stick at it and keep smiling. When you’re done the sense of achievement will be immense, plus you’ll have a beautiful new home, and you’ll have the benefit of knowing how everything on the boat works. Good luck with the upcoming jobs and I’d love to see more videos although fully appreciate it must be difficult to make time for filming with all the other stuff you’ve got going on.

    Best of luck, and I'm looking forward to your next video. Peter.

    Great to see you both back at it, it has been 3 months since your last very short update video, I am glad to see you had the good sense to put a water fill on both side of the boat, I do the same thing with all the custom pontoon house boats I build, same as the fuel, that way it don't mater witch side you dock on, as for the junction box on the roof your lucky to find one with any openings in it, them water tight PVC boxes normally come with no holes in them at all, and you drill out the sizes you need and glue in the adaptor fittings with PVC glue or tap the treads into the box then tread in your water tight compression cable fittings. hope your not gone again for weeks

    make sure you repaint any primer thats removed with the multitool , the scratches through to steel will quickly turn into fissures of rust and rott out, especially as its around the water inlet.

    Good to see you back . I would invest in a spray foam gun and some cans of spray foam plus a can of cleaner from the likes of Eurocell ( the do all the bits for window fitters ) its what window fitters use and its the same as the foam in your boat you can do a 5mm bead to a 30mm bead of foam , I've had one for about 10 years and use it on any thing I need to fill gaps on

    Regarding the pipe for your tank why don’t you just add a cut away in the door for the bow thruster a U shape in the door will be easier and you will still have the access you need. Also if the water inlet is set on a vertical this will also make easyer to fit and give you room to run the pipe !
    Hope that helps

    hi you lovely people, with the water fill .... why don't you put it in the middle of the bow under the window, then you only need one fitting and you can get to it from both sides of your boat, also you can fit it easier and to get to it easier from the inside as well. just a thought... keep up the good work as well.

    What I don’t really understand is... a couple of sleeping bags and mats would totally work to spend nights on the boat long before the bed is in. You’ve got a perfectly good floor. Hell, you could put a simple tent up for extra warmth and for anything other than actual freezing that should totally have worked.

  • @oksanagerasymets4145
    @oksanagerasymets4145 6 лет назад

    Hi! I am not sure if you have time to answer questions but just in case you do... Say, where all this work can be done? Should it be on the land or the boat is on the water? If it is marina, does anyone around mind the noise (drilling, cutting wood etc.) And another question are you going to buy a generator or use solar panels? Because as I understand you work from home on your laptop and you need a good and reliable source of power. Sorry for asking to many questions. I really admire your dedication and I can't wait to see the video after all the hard work is done.

    • @NarrowboatZeroGravity
      @NarrowboatZeroGravity  6 лет назад

      Hi there - sorry about the very tardy reply. In answer to your question, it really depends what you've got access to - if you happen to have some land where you can park a boat, it does make certain things a lot easier not having it on the water. We didn't really have a choice about going in the marina, and it does limit certain things (like painting the hull), but most of it can be coped with. In terms of noise, it depends on the marina - we're kind of lucky that the marina we're in isn't that busy in terms of liveaboards, and we usually try and let next-door-neighbours know if we're going to be especially noisy. And in terms of power, we're going for solar power, and we may possibly add a wind generator as well - we don't really have the room for a fuel generator, but we should be able to make solar work, and we'll be recharging every time we use the engine anyway. Hope that helps!

    Hi there, see you have gone for a sailaway from Tyler Wilson , I am looking at a new build boat , I visited the site this year on an open day but the only person available to speak with was Ken from ex Fernwood boats, now Finesse . I want to know why you went for a fore cabin design as liking it and if you went for any increased dimensions on base plate or hull sides and whats the length of your boat please ? Many thanks, btw following your journey , Great !!

    • @NarrowboatZeroGravity
      @NarrowboatZeroGravity  6 лет назад

      Hello! Sorry about the very late reply - I don't think we went for any increased dimensions on the base plate or hull sides (or if we did, it's completely vanished from my memory!). The reason we went for the extended forecabin is that we knew we wanted to live aboard, and neither of us wanted a bed set-up where either someone would have to clamber over the other person in the night, or where we'd have to fold away the bed every night. The extended forecabin would mean we'd be able to have a big bed permanently at the front of the boat, and it also bought us a few extra feet in terms of internal space. It's given us a couple of complications (like we eventually decided to put in two water inlets at the front, on either side of the boat, to reduce the amount of clambering around) but we're certainly happy with it so far!

    Is the intention to be liveabord? I know I'm jumping in to a lot of positive comments being the negative one, but two years since launch and to the casual observer very little seems to have happened. It's just the cost of ownership, mooring (unless you are moving it about bi-weekly.) etc. to have a boat doing so little. It seems like motivation has been waning since shortly after launch. You guys have an excellent energy and I really believe you'd make an excellent narrow-boating channel. I'm at this point wondering if this was intended to be a project over the years (which can cause build problems of their own) or if it was intended to get done to be a continuously cruised boat and has become overwhelming to the level that it's being avoided. I'd hate to see the boat sold half done and the channel go stagnant. Just my personal curiosity.

    • @themightydash1714
      @themightydash1714 6 лет назад

      and they said originally they did it to save money, but have spent 2 years mooring fees, 2 years renting a flat at the same time,This whole thing just makes me think poor little rich kid tbh. The cost of renting for 2 years would have paid for a complete hand crafted bespoke boat built to an extremely high standard many times over.

    you need to think about condesation and moisture before proping stuff up with book shelves, SILICON IT UP THERE, DONT CUT STUPID CORNERS AND END UP WITH A LOAD OF BODGED STUFF, you will see it all, not the good bits, it will anoy you when you walk past it. Fix the cieling or you,ll be like that everywhere else. By the time you finished the good stuff will be tainted by the bad. its all good just go that last bit to get the finish right.

    ....... put £1000 into a boat builder, let him do two days for you and watch him work. You,ll save a load of time and money if you do. £1000 for two days training, see it as that not hiring a worker. You,ll get two lots out of him , not just the work, the learning from him or her.
