Yep. I also recommend reacting to the whole album. I've seen them live 3 times. They are awesome. Adam changes up lyrics. They'll speed up slower songs or slow down faster songs. Sometimes they do acoustic versions.
Anna Begins is a masterpiece in describing the complexities of being vulnerable to someone and protective of yourself. Adam’s vocals take you on a rollercoaster from calm and settled to excited and apprehensive to utter desperation and defeat. The poetic lyrics speak for themselves.
This entire album is brilliant. Duritz is a fantastic vocalist, and I love how expressive and passionate he is. His words are poetry. There are tears every time he sings "this time when kindness falls like rain".
People give this band a lot of grief because in their heads all they hear or see is the Mr. Jones song/video. I get it, that song is pretty campy and poppy. But the rest of this album is absolute gold. I can listen to it start to finish and it takes me on a journey every time. What else could you ask for right?
Yeah, finally someone who appreciates that song like I do. I heard that song like 25 yrs ago and I still come back to it and that entire CD at least once a year.
Man, props to you for actually LISTENING. I recommend pretty well any track from their second album, Recovering The Satellites, my #2 album of all time!
Lead singer Adam Duritz wrote this song about denial. It's about when you're in a relationship with someone and you keep denying it's anything but a fling, then you wise up and realize that all along while you were denying it, you were growing closer together. There is a real Anna - she's a girl from Australia that Duritz met on vacation in Greece in 1989, and she broke his heart. Duritz was far from famous at the time - he saved up money doing landscaping work to afford the trip. At the end of the trip, he and Anna agreed that there was no way for their relationship to continue, and they went their separate ways. "The characters keep saying 'I'm not ready for this sort of thing' until at the end when they find out what they really aren't ready for is the loss, but then it's too late," Duritz explained. Adam says that they remained friends and occasionally spoke on the phone, even after Anna got married. She is a big fan of the song.
Story behind this song is incredible, he was dating a girl on a visa from Australia, in the late 80’s and it was expiring. They could get married or she could home and this is about that decision. “And Anna begins to fade away “
Intresting story. I always gathered from it. Two people that really cared about each. But they just couldn't get it right at the same time. Kept trying over and over again. But in the end could not go home again. Which was really sad. And I totally get.
Great song. Perfect reaction to such a great great song & like the comment before me; EVERY SONG on this album is INCREDIBLE. All great, all distinct Counting Crows songs but different impact with each track
@@laurarominger2073 I'm not certain about your Question. I believe Adam's real name is Adam Duritz. Jim Steinman is the guy who wrote all of Meat Loafs best songs as well as Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding out for Hero for Bonnie Tyler, It's all Coming back to me now for Celine Dion, Making Love out of Nothing at all for Air Supply etc.....
@@laurarominger2073 No Hahaha about it. Jim Steinman is a song writing master in the song writers hall of fame and he's not as well known as he should be just like Adam, but many consider him the greatest songwriter to ever live. Are you a fan of Meat Loaf? Do you know his songs Paradise by the Dashboard Light, 2 out of 3 ain't bad, Bat out of Hell, I would do Anything for Love, and For Crying out Loud? The Lyrics are beyond genius and all written by Steinman. I love Adam just like you, but if you really take a look at Steinman's work it's hard to come to any other conclusion.
I really enjoy your reaction videos! You do it just right. I love that you don't constantly interrupt the music. Your reactions are obviously genuine... and the icing on the cake is that you have a Beatles poster in the background! 🙂
Hey Teez, If you liked this song, check out: Counting Crows: mr jones Counting Crows: round here Counting Crows: long december Counting Crows: big yellow taxi
When this band just came out, I went to a friend's house, and she showed me the CD which I looked at for a split second and said "Country Crows." She laughed so hard and thought I as an idiot. WORDS HURT! Lol.
Dude, you react to some great stuff. I don't know if you have followers with great taste or you just happen to pick great stuff but either way, excellent content.
Just found this track and vid randomly but damn if it dont hit! Got a good groove to it and we all been there telling ourselves we dont feel the things we do
Yo TEEZ. Love this band Adam the lead singer is an amazing poet. They have a song called Good Time. It is easily there best song. It never got any rral recognition or radio play but it is amazing. Real smooth and bluesy. Check it out
About as close to rap as a rock song has ever been without losing its essence. No musical interlude at all, no solo no break. He sings the entire song with no more than about two beats between lines until the transition to the end spurt where he pauses one whole measure.
Bro 😎 How ya doin? There r so many reaction vids out now that I get confused about who’s who! 🤔 What sets you apart for me was when I saw “Ana Begins” in this vid! Crows and me go waaay back but Ana Begins is one of their lesser known songs … but it’s one of my absolute favs! 🥰 Excellence on many levels …. Killer band …. Adam’s insane vocals Lyrics 🤯 I hope you have listened to more from them. You’re guaranteed to love them! Can’t wait till you do some more R&B! 😉 I’m Purple so I can send you some Prince suggestions! 💜 Blessings to you Bro ❤️🙏🏽
I'm reading a lot of _"The Entire Album is incredible..."_ but irl, it's more like their entire Discography, but unfortunately, they really didn't get any airtime after this CD. It was weird. Brad Nowell died, then Kobain died, and the music had to be _pop_ alternative or it wasn't getting played for quite a while. Anyway, awesome reaction man. Really good vibe for sure.
Start to finish, this album is incredible.
Yep. I also recommend reacting to the whole album. I've seen them live 3 times. They are awesome. Adam changes up lyrics. They'll speed up slower songs or slow down faster songs. Sometimes they do acoustic versions.
Absolutely, I still listen to it at least once a year.
One of my absolute faves from start to finish, perfection!
💯 my favorite album and favorite song - for almost 30 years
Flawless album
The “rain falls down” harmony at the end is absolute brilliance.
Anna Begins is a masterpiece in describing the complexities of being vulnerable to someone and protective of yourself. Adam’s vocals take you on a rollercoaster from calm and settled to excited and apprehensive to utter desperation and defeat. The poetic lyrics speak for themselves.
One of the BEST albums EVER. EVERY track is good.
This song is not only my favorite Counting Crows song, but one of my favorite all time songs
This song is majorly underrated/not enough people have heard it. Same goes for practically all the songs on this album
Omaha is amazing
The whole album is really nice.
Best album ever
"And every time she sneezes I believe it's love..." I adore this lyric!
Same!!!!
Always goosebumps on that lyric
Me too!
This album is a classic. One of my fav songs from it.

One of THE BEST lyricists on earth.
That entire album is pure gold.
Yeah, finally someone who appreciates that song like I do. I heard that song like 25 yrs ago and I still come back to it and that entire CD at least once a year.
Yes Adam duritz is a poet. Check out Murder of One and Round Here. Well this whole album.
I forgot just how great this whole album is ❤
This is the best song on an incredible album full of great songs. "August And Everything After"
This is an album I think everyone should own. 👍this is my favourite song on the album too. 😊
Same here!

I know you did this forever ago, but you just got a subscribe because you appreciated one of my favorite songs ever!
Thanks for doing this song man, i'm super excited to watch this.
This album is amazing and has an imprint on my heart ❤
Great choice! Happy this entered my feed.
My favorite track on that album by far.
The Bay Area artistry of the Counting Crows is undeniable.

Great song!!!!!! “Around Here” on that album is also really good.
Best song on one of the greatest albums of all time thank you for reacting to this
Keep up the awesome work 👍👍
Congrats on being one of the only people to react to this amazing song. Takes me back.....
Great song. Perfect reaction to such a great great song & like the comment before me; EVERY SONG on this album is INCREDIBLE. All great, all distinct Counting Crows songs but different impact with each track
Greatest lyricist in last few decades. Incredible
Adam is great, but you must mean Jim Steinman.

Lyrical genius.
One of their all time bests
Top 5 album of all time on my list. Just saying.
Sullivan Street is another from the same album.
Obscure song. Great song. Thanks for reacting.
An almost perfect album. A couple off "Recovering The Satellites" are even better but this is one of greatest ever
I really enjoy your reaction videos! You do it just right. I love that you don't constantly interrupt the music. Your reactions are obviously genuine... and the icing on the cake is that you have a Beatles poster in the background! 🙂
Best album ever
Takes me back to seeing them with the Cranberries, back when Counting Crows were touring on this album. Thanks again for the fun reaction videos!!
Mine too!
Counting Crows are amazing...
You will love A Long December and Round Here. Great band ♥
One of my favorites off that album! Love when the background vocals come in.
This album is easily in my top 10 of the 90's. Not many reactions to their songs though. Please do more.
Nice deep dive, great song, amazing album
A Murder of One is a great track off this album.
This whole album is masterpiece.
Wow so glad to find another soul who found these guys...and this is an old song find more...they kick...to cool..
Arguably their best, excellent choice. That said, I also love Perfect Blue Buildings and Rain King.
Counting Crows was an amazing band.
Wow- this was my favorite! But so unheard of! I’m impressed you chose it to react. Thank you.
One lyrical genius... My favorite!
Thank you for listening to a song that is not Mr Jones or Around Here. They have so many other amazing songs.
They have a ton of great songs...and lyrics
thanks for reacting to this.
One of my favorite songs
Washington Square by Counting Crows, almost as perfect as Anna Begins
I could list any and every song off any and every LP they did...to me they were the New Beatles...so creative..
Hey Teez,
If you liked this song, check out:
Counting Crows: mr jones
Counting Crows: round here
Counting Crows: long december

This album should be recommended listening material for humanity! (At least twice a year):-)

React to their Omaha or Round Here!! Sooooo amazing. Most underrated bands in my opinion.

Nah, this album is definitely and clearly a level above all their subsequent albums.
❤
i think you would love Carnival by Natalie Merchant. just sayin.
good reaction
Hell Yes - by Beck
I just hate the ending so much, why does she have to disappear? It's so beautiful, but the ending is so sad.
someone wanted to put you in a sad mood for a bit. love this band though.
You should have clicked on the live version.
❤
