  • Just a few thoughts that are on my mind here mid-season.
As you fight these battles, do your best to do so with love and understanding in your heart. Just don't back down.

So true man... midway thru my season Im first year head coach 11u little league team... I've found my most energetic practices always involve a lot of one on one hitting/tackling after warmups... seems to wake the kids up. Love the channel man keep doing what you do!

I feel your pain. Every day it's a fight. There a handful that I hope get the chance to coach their personalities so they can see why I keep cracking molars at practice. It is a great game though and the ones that want to learn and are all hustle make it worth while. Thanks for the videos. I am a big fan.

In high school we never wore practice pants in season, it was a morale boost type of deal. We had to “earn it”

I coach a little league program. Alot of kids in their first and second year. Every day is a struggle to keep their energy up with them being tired from school and so on. So far the best thing I've come up with is finding a way for them to have fun, compete against each other and work them hard in the process.

Coach - Thanks for the reminder of what is important. I've been struggling personally this week because an assistant principal (HS level) here told me that he doubted my morals, my ethics, and my character after a minor incident last week he had with one of my coaches. That he fired on the spot. I won't go into it but I've had a very hard time getting back into football coach mode because of his firing my coach and questioning my honor. You reminded me that I need to do the best I can for these players. Thanks.

I dont know how well you know other teams/coaches around the state that are wing t teams but id like to hear from former carthage/illini west coach jim unruh. That guy had monstous seasons with that offense and seldomly missed the playoffs with multiple state title runs and championships. Itd be cool if you could get into contact with him and learn his philosophies.

Great idea! I've always wanted to talk to him! His Carthage teams were legendary!

Hey coach we have competition Tuesday. We battle for a wwe or ufc style belt. Soon as Monday’s practice is over we’re talking about it trying to hype it up. They seem to respond well to props of any kind good luck with your new school

Unrelated, but have you switched away from your Wing T offense? I noticed in the one clip you showed that you guys were in an I formation.

Nope, still a wing t team. We just have a tailback who is clearly our featured back so we put him in the I once in a while.

We're small school ball (330 total students, 32 in the football program) and Tuesdays are usually crap for us bc JV plays Monday (nearly half our kids) and they don't want to do anything the following day. Varsity kids are pretty gun-ho (yesterday's practice was really good but our JV game got canceled).

Our Tuesday's would be a heavy conditioning day and if we didn't put out the energy coaches would extend it and make sure we got it in, if you're late bear crawls every 4 letter word bear crawls every penalty from Fridays game were an extra on top of the days conditioning. if it didn't look good we did it again, if someone false starts on the go we backed up. Etc etc etc by the way it was all team conditioning.

Consequences, each play you either win, or lose. The one that doesn't hit your goals for the play has consequences. Don't block and cover... consequences. Don't rush or cover.. consequences. At first it may come across as a waist of time, but in practice, I promise you. Quantity over quality works

Tell the kids that Tuesday’s practice determines who starts in the game. Replace one kid and problem solved.
