Hi, I've checked my 21 year old mercedesmotorhome and in most areas its 2% to 8% but there are to areas around the roof windows where it shows 58%. I would guess they've been left open in the rain but what's the best way to seal again and will the damp inside eventually dry out. There's no spongyness attached to either.
Great video Liam, very informative, thanks for uploading. Absolutely disgraceful that you have to put up with damp issues on motorhomes/caravans that are sometimes only a year old, fifteen years old?, yes you can maybe understand it, In any other industry this would not be tolerated.
According to the AWS, this is their guidelines: Readings between 0-15% - readings not recorded. Readings between 16% - 20% - Requires further investigation, compare with average readings, re-check in 3 months. Readings above 21% - will identify areas needing remedial work. There may be signs of water ingress or evidence of moisture. Again, it may be worth a re-check in 3 months. Readings above 30% - Structural damage may be occurring and deterioration is inevitable.

Thanks for the comment, appreciate the positive feedback!
Our caravan is 18 months old and has damp , we have had 6 warranty claims in that time and now we have damp , we are so fed up !
I wanna buy one of the damp protected metres
Makes me think the best time to look at camper vans is when it’s been raining for a few weeks. Could easily get caught out at the end of a dry spell?
Thats true, but another way to check is get a damp meter! Campervans are usually sealed better than motorhomes from our experience.
So what is an acceptable % for damp in a MH?
