In every single interview I've ever seen of Krist talking about Nirvana he says "I just wish Kurt was still around, ya know?" Krist really loved him like a brother. Nirvana had a very sad ending.
Chode Mckenzie it was just a matter of time imagine growing up to be you’re villain
very sad ending? look where they started 32 years ago and people still talking about them...
I'd say Kurt's descent into drug addiction, his suicide and the end of the band qualifies as sad, yeah
Yeah which is something Dave never talks about.I dont know.Watch every interview on Dave he never talks about Kurt.
Were that we all could shine so bright for any amount of time...
Krist continues to age without his friend who will forever be 27. It’s sad.
😔😔😔😔
A lot of us have friends who left too soon.
The 27 club!!!
@@A1Authority far to many. lost 3 close friends in same year really hard dealing with it 2 years later
@@scottbuckley6578 Been there, brother. Life is a test. Hopefully they passed quickly. Mine did. That said. I suspect those of us left to carry on have it the hardest; not just living life but wrangling it's purpose.
I really like how he talks about Kurt and says “I love him” not “I loved him.” When you lose someone close you always feel their presence.
what a crock of shit that's just the same as saying when someone close to you lives you always feel their presence...

Krist is authentic...and Dave Grohl is awesome human as well...Kurt had good taste in friends.
This needs way more likes...that is very true he sure did.
He couldn't stand grohl and novoselic was the only normal guy in the school plus he got a garage🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Kurt didn't like Dave
Best part for me was when he says 'I love him' in the present tense, not past.
Lounge Act bass line is all you need to know. He's a legend.
Was listening and thinking about it today. That line is simple but genius, shows Krist is really a musicians musician too.
Kurt cobain is credited as writing the music and lyrics for nirvana, which is why Courtney love was able to steal the rights to the music. Anyhow I wonder how much of the music was actually written by kurt?
Dim Wit he probably gave the other guys pretty much closed pieces of music with melody and lyrics, but they of course contributed things like bass lines, drum beats, and possibly song structure ideas. That’s how I think it was.
Bass line on in bloom takes some beating.......stays in your brain
@@bobstermaher you mean the baseline that just follows the guitar rift?
I think its so awesome how krist always brings Kurt up in his interviews almost always saying he misses him or he wishes he were still here... like he just wants his friend back.
Cierra Fitzgerald I agree. Every single interview or speech he gives he basically says he much he misses Kurt. They were great friends.
Partly Krist brings in Kurt because the interviewers always ask for Krist's opinion on Kurt since they were so close. I think now he may bring Kurt up because yes, he misses his friend, esp in this context. But also he might as well go first because the interviewer IS going to ask The Kurt Question. :>)
hello? awesome? here's a news flash for you, Krist knew Kurt was murdered from day one. impossible he didn't know he was murdered because of his proximity to Kurt he knew he was NOT suicidal and that he wanted a divorce, for example. he spent over 20 years vigorously supporting the suicide mythology because he was bought by Courtney the same way she bought the SPD, the coroner and assorted junkies like Cali and Eric and etc, but he wasn't some corrupt fatassed cop willing to step over kurts dead body to get ahead, he was supposed to be his friend , his bandmate, his classmate and etc. hello?
That's kinda sadistic. I'm sure it's super painful for him.
yeah hi idiot. he wasn't much of a friend. he knew Kurt was murdered all along and yet supported the suicide mythology/propaganda for 22 years. some evidence suggests he may have been a collaborator but he definitely colluded in his murder by supporting them all those years when he knew she had him killed. he always talks about Kurt maybe becAuse he might be partially human and feels guilty. but I can't speak for that . youre some sort of idiot to perceive him, who supported the murderers because he was bought as a friend

'You Know You're Right' breaks my heart like no other track in music history. I can't even imagine how epic that entire album would have been if that lone track was any indication.
It might have been:
1.You Know Youre Right
2. Sappy
3.I hate myself and want to die
4. Verse chorus Verse
5. Do re mi
6. Oh the Guilt
7. Aint It a Shame
And some others. Would have been a great album.
@@lmn6440 Yeah, I feel like some of the tracks would be re-recorded for the album if nirvana was longer.
@@lmn6440 Oh yeah all these nevermind and in utero outtakes would end up on a new album.
Of course not. Sappy was on No Alternative. I Hate Myself was on the Beavis and Butthead cd.
Curmugeon and stuff wouldn't have reappeared after more than 2 years.
The only indications are You Know Youre Right, Do Re Mi and 'Jam After Dinner' or whatever it would have been called once finished.
I know he probably wouldn't use it if he were alive today, but Kurt on Twitter would be funny
Dillon Haggett Very!
Kurt posted to fans on AOL, used early cell phones. No reason to think he wouldn't be on social media. Agree, Cobain was very funny. I love his humour. :>)
Eminem is very similar to Cobain, probably took after him in ways... Superstar overnight that came from nothing, rebellious, angry, cynical... contemplating suicide, and writing about death, and various other things... Cobain, and Eminem were very similar (eminems early career).... you don't see Eminem on social media.... Cobain definitely wouldn't be either... he would make fun of it, and tell us how the world is so fucked up that everybody is on social media... he would try to change it... I mean theres no way of knowing that's how he would be... but in my opinion that is the most logical way he would be.... but you never know...
honestly i feel like he'd be happy about twitter considering he's such an emotional and introverted guy i feel like he'd be on there for a good amount of time. i dont think he'd be all cynical though part of me thinks hed grow out of that phase. i can just imagine him tweeting thom yorke style tweets like those middle aged man tweets that dont make very much sense at all but they kind of do
you never know, he might of taken a liking to the internet age once he got into it lol
Krist has the same sense of humor as me and gets the same result. "Let's call the band Krist Novoselic with Paul McCartney and Friends." Nobody knew it was a joke, except Dave I'm sure.
I find it cool that my favorite Beatle reunited Nirvana.
Krist u talk like if u are not part of the great musicians that gave us alot... but u are definitly part of them. If it wasn't for you and your awesome bass lines that u created in Nirvana, then maybe the songs wouldn't have been half as good! And i truly beleive you were kurt's backbone for creating Nirvana in the 1st place, so to me Krist you are one of the greats too bud! Cheers
pat melanson well said👍👌
Very underrated bassist.
Krist is the man
he is real, for that their music is real...
Yup
Kurt took part of this guy with him. It doesn’t matter how much time passes you can just tell that he can’t fully grasp the loss. He’s just sitting there with this big empty space that should have been filled with life
This comment is so spot on. For sure Krist has become more mature but you can see he is very different than when he was with Nirvana. Back then he was full of life and joyful, now he's melancholically ironic at best.
When you're like "wow was that really 25 years ago?" then look at the 2016 video date and realise it's actually 30 years now.
Same same
One day, it'll be 40 years ago
It'll be 100 or 1000 but it'll always sound the same.
He’s so innately humble and down to earth and gentle. No wonder Kurt and him adored each other. 💔

Krist never gets tired of talking about Kurt, you’ve gotta respect him for that.
This man is so underrated. I feel like when people think of nirvana, they think of Kurt Cobain.
That's not a revelation.
Kurdt was Nirvana through and through but Krist is soooo underrated because if it weren't for him, I doubt Kurdt wouldve hooked up with such a solid devoted partner. It was Krist whom had the van and helped Kurdt reach that dream. I love Krist with all my heart! Kurdt is GOD... krist needs more praise in his roll!
Lil idiot drummer boy tries to schmooze n parade his "I was in nirvana" so much. I love the 1st Foo LP but like with Ghey day riding the coattails of the East bay punk scene... he tries to remind anyone whom listens... I was in nirvana also!

A lot of these other rockstars when their friends die are all “dude, I’m now The Ramones” or whatever, whereas Krist always kind of sounds like he forgets he was part of that equation, too, he puts it all on Kurt - “these musicians gave us such great music.” That’s a nice guy right there, not allowing his ego to overshadow his friend!

Nirvana was Kurt’s band, and none of the bandmates were confused about that. It was all Kurts’ baby. He was the creative force behind everything. In fact, old drummers that wanted to contribute to writing and such got shown the door by Kurt.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 that's Dave Grohl made another band after Nirvana

I think you’re missing a word. Dave did that after Kurt died because he knew Kurt was a better song writer than he was and Nirvana was the best it was ever going to get for Dave. Nirvana > Foo Fighters.
So True
GREAT POINT!
You can still hear the pain in his voice when he talks about Kurt Cobain.
Stephen Davis I wish Kurt was still around
As much as the world was devastated by Kurt killing himself, it was 1000x worse for Krist, Courtney, Kurt's sister/aunt. I'm sure they all will always have intermittent moments of overwhelming sadness for the rest of their lives. Not just for KC not being there, but for how much pain he must have been in to blow his head off...this was not a "cry for help". Same as, the world mourned Lennon, but no fan could ever imagine what that must have been - and continues to be - for Yoko.
I don't mean to state the obvious, only to agree with the comment and to try to understand, as much we can, how bad it must have been to lose Kurt, the Friend.
+GREGG Helmbold Oh, please! Courtney was sleeping with Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins only *THREE WEEKS* after Kurt was dead. The only cry of help that Kurt exclaimed was to get away from his sociopathic wife, who only wanted fame and money and was even burning through all of Kurt's money faster than he was earning it! He was even wanting to file for divorce so she would be out of his life!
Kurt didn't just kill himself, he killed any hope of a career and a future that he had lol. Must be especially painful seeing how far Dave Grohl went on his own
GREGG Helmbold I know. I can’t even imagine. If Kurt (and the whole band) was able to reach that many hearts and become so personal for peoples lives, I can’t even imagine what it’s like for someone who was actually best friends with him!
People up here talking bout how he looks. Either u are forever remembered young like Kurt, or u get old. I’ll take the latter.

i believe he conspired in his murder, that is why he spent 22 years supporting the murderers and suicide mythology. that is why he fought with kurt at the airport, because he was trying to control his location, the better to victimize him and he was supposedly involved in the bogus 'intervention' which was really an intervention to him getting a divorce or remembering that she tried to kill him in rome
David Anderson please stop acting like you know anything about these people's lives and the scenarios you're referring to.

a brother in heart. He let Kurt stay with his family, when Kurt was homeless.
He didn't do it one time in the whole video lol. Every reference was past tense
"Paul's one of the biggest songwriters ever, and Dave's selling out stadiums. I don't think you should put your name first"
Nah man, Paul and Dave have had their turns at being the top guy. This was Krist's opportunity.
I agree 100% Kris was the legend that kept nirvana together and he calmed Curt and was the brains behind Kurts manic charm but Kris as all bassists are was the engine that drove nirvana,
This guy was the show at Reading in 92. He killed it that night. His stage presence oozed opulence and prestige.
K relax yourself.
he spent 22 years lying about kurt being murdered. not just lying, but very vigorously advocated for the suicide theory when he knew kurt was killed. hello? hello in there? anybody home?
Kurt already tried to kill himself weeks before his death, in Italy. He overdosed with Rohypnol, and Courtney was the one who called the ambulance and saved him. So shut the fuck up.
Matt Moves Thanks, these idiots are like a disease
Lamprey milt as much of a cobain fan that I am I will admit you are right on a few points. He was poor, narcissistic, and admitedly took the role as a loser even though The popular jocks wanted him to be in thier groups he rejected them to be an outcast. An emotionally damaged young man for sure. But to say his music was just the right place at the right time is stupid. True the world of music was sick of 80s hair bands, but kurts writing style was a blend of youthful rebellion that combined beatlesqe/metal tones that were unique and well written. Come as you are, about a girl, in bloom, lithium, Polly, smells like teen spirit, all apologise, heart shaped box ....need I say more these songs though admittedly are not Beethoven or another musical genius of your choice, they are sharply crafted nuggets of aggression and angst perfectly relayed into sound bites that are relatable and palatable to the ear. If you so smugly write cobain off as a fluke just some loser junkie in be right place you are a fool that doesn't see music accurately

It’s always Good to see this man. We Love you Krist, and We all miss Kurt too. Long Live Nirvana!
What you need to remember with dead musicians is when they died. For example Kurt died in the mid-nineties. Who knows what he would have liked now. What he would have used for social media, if at all. You really can't tell. People adapt and change with the world. It might seem that he wouldn't have used this or that or listened to this music, but that's because you're always going to see him as a person from the nineties because that's where his character and personality is going to be forever.
He was pissed at all the attention back then, before any social media. Kurt seemed a man who was focused in what he did and said and was true to that. Pretty obvious, unless he had a massive change mentally, that he wouldn't have engaged in any twitter, youtube or and I choke, facebook bullshit. He was a man of his word, that's why he killed himself.

This is a really sweet interview, well edited. Here's Krist with a 25-year perspective on what Nirvana accomplished. Here I am with 3 years of hearing Nirvana and just accepting there's no more Nirvana and Kurt is gone. Weird disconnect time-warp effect from RUclips videos. Krist: We were a boy band, haha... +Kurts.shoulders he actually was really into the idea of virtual reality... In an interview around the era of the Insesticide, he was actually wearing some sort of binaural glasses, he said he really liked it actually, automatically assuming anything electronic is impossible for emotional and Intense is ignorent, it's down to the artists, there's always being bland rock music there's always beinh nirvana and same with electronic music there's bland stuff but there's highly emotive and Iintense music constantly released, there's something out there for everyone you just have to look, I'm sure Kurt would have love bands like Death Grips, artistic individuals like Bjork ect it's about what the listener is willing to research
I think That music would be differnt today if he was still around.
steve sparrow me too
What a kind hearted person... He looked after Kurt big time.. miss you Kurt xx
He played such great basslines on Nirvana songs. Bass melodies on Nevermind's songs play a big role in how good they sounds...
Krist was so cool in the 90s now he seems like every uncle ever
You will be the same eventually. Dont kid yourself
He seems way easier to talk too now i think. He was a sarcastic prick alot back in the day, im sure he would agree
You'd never think he was in a legendary rock band if you passed him on the street. Such a humble unpretentious role model for aspiring musicians.
0:50 Kurt would of hated the music today. If you watch the documentary "about a son" you can actually hear Kurt actually speculate on what music would be like 20 years from then and he was dead on.
yeah he was implying rap and electronic music were going to the most popular thing and he was right.
I like his face when he says "boy" and imagines Kurts rage about the music scene today
@mikedoesseo yeah he said that kids int he future will plug them selves into networked VR machines and listen to tones and pulses which is the internet today
Kurt actually liked rap and hip-hop
the thing is he really wouldn’t care in the large scope. He found music through different mediums, and I could see him appreciating hip hop artists today. I could totally see him praising some indie rock bands and punk bands of the 2000s-2010s. If you listen to Dope Body’s album Lifer...if it was recorded by Nirvana it would’ve been the next logical step in the band’s sound
Nirvana will never die if you think about it. A lot of us who lose ourselves relate to the music. Each generation will have those kids who find nirvana and find themselves. Nirvana will never die
I'm sure that's what they said about Elvis and look...who listens to him now? Only a handful of middle-aged folk
Eventually they all fade away. Life goes on and changes are like tidal wave that swallow the past and rearrange the ground for new footprints to be made until another wave washes those away too
@@Tony-iu7sw a lot of people still listen to Elvis. I'm 19 and listen to Elvis. Not Elvis exclusively, but at least once a week I will listen to his classics.
@@loveks9043 compared to how often people used to play his music I'd say it's dying out. Only reason he still gets played is because those that played the music still have kids that reminisce on what their parents listened to but tell me.. do you think your kids will listen to him? Or even so theirs? It'll die out. Trust me
I have never tired of listening to Nirvana, in all of my moods I find something in the music and the words. In my eyes the entire group was perfect. Thanks for keeping me enraptured for all these years guys
One of the things that made me really sad (the death itself was a soul crusher to me) was the fact that Krist Novoselic always seemed happy and acted goofy in all (at least most) Nirvana interviews. He acted like he was really friends with Kurt and they shared a kind of camaraderie that was pretty evident.
After Kurt died, something happened to Krist. Even many years afterwards, the spark in his eyes was gone. It was really hurtful to watch.
Mottahead it's called 'Grief' ❤
Yeah, in one word : grief.
You sound like a person who says few words yet has a big heart.
i love being the new gen of nirvana listeners nirvana saved my life multiple times
Thank you krist ..and Dave and Kurt..for making music that I grew up with and will never forget
This is the heaviest 'Don't judge a book by it's cover' moment ever.
"Nirvana's Krist Novoselic Remembers 'Nevermind' 25 Years Later"
"...Haha! Oh yeah! I forgot I did that..."
JC Denton He’s so cool that it’s just another common thing he did.
Dude changed a whole generation and a decade and barely remember he did it lol
