I was only 22 years old when I worked at the Desert Springs Marriott (now JW Marriott Marquis). I worked with an old timer that said; "Old blue eyes is in the ballroom" and I walked over shortly thereafter to see what the hoopla was all about. I walked in and saw him sing a song (I don't recall which) and I walked out a few minutes after. I said to myself; "not my kind of music." Boy oh boy do I ever regret this. The same night jumped into an elevator and bumped into the baseball great Yogi Berra that was here to see Frank; amongst countless more celebrities. Frank Sinatra Golf Invitational was a year hit. Good times for many; missed opportunity for me.

In other words the kids were competing with his wife? How do they know if Sinatra wanted what his wife did since he left most of his money and assets with her? No wonder their marriages didn't last because they focused on his father's.

@@Tee1312Jay He did NOT leave most of his assets to his wife. His “assets” were evenly distributed among his wife and his children. The trust was established years before he died and executed after his death. All in all Barbara Sinatra did very well given she had nothing coming into the marriage and died worth an estimated $100 million.

In 94" I saw Frank at the Dessert Inn in Las Vegas, Later that night Sam Butera and Keely Smith were at the Starlight Lounge. Franks show was done at 10PM.. Sam and Keely did not end until 1 AM. That's when Frank came down to the lounge with his entourage. The house had set up tables,,with ice buckets and a bottle of Jack. A few snacks, and a dish of red life savers. Sam , Keeley and Frank then sat around in the lounge until 4AM. I was lucky to witness it all. 1994, Frank seemed out of it then too but came alive with Sam and Keeley. I will never forget that night.

This video of Frank breaks my heart. And the fact that Frank established this Tournament to raise money for a charity he started in Barbara's name and she dragged him out looking awful gives me lots of insight why Frank's three children wanted nothing to do with her. She lived 20 years after he died. He picked her but this does not show her or her intentions in a good light.

    • @Arturo-sm1tb
      @Arturo-sm1tb 6 лет назад +13

She was TERRIBLE. absolutely disgraceful. She put him back on stage at this golf tournament in 1995, a year after this video when he was in bad shape, just so he could make a few more bucks. Then of course the family wants to bury any mention, sound or video of that show. Its a historical moment, and should be shown.

Looks like his last performance in 1995 in the desert for charity was taken down. Too bad, he sounded great, much better than 1994 tour. He needed rest and it showed. He sang 4/5 songs and I was shocked how good it was..His actual very last time in a mini concert on stage...1995.

    • @Arturo-sm1tb

6 songs actually. Wonder why taken down? The Sinatra family strikes again. Nancy and her cohorts are not good people. The Palm Desert show in 1995 is a historical performance that needs to be shown and heard. The Best Is Yet To Come was the last song, of the last set, of the last concert. Fortunately the audio from Jonathan Schwartz remains on RUclips, who recorded it for an article he wrote for Vanity Fair, 1995. Fascinating historical piece. Its been saved for posterity.

His voice was never the same when he made his comeback in the '70's. But, surprisingly, he almost nailed it with 'New York, New York". My Dad preferred Frank from the '40's, whereas I liked Frank from the '50's. But, I have to side with my Dad that Sinatra's voice, at its peak, was in the '40's. But, it never came close to Bing's. Frank knew it, resented the fact, but never lost admiration for his master. Bing and Frank were night and day. Plus, Bing was a lot gentler on the new singers that followed himself and Frank. Frank was very angry all of his life. Plus, very OCD. 10 showers a day? Oh my. Did he get Dolly's worst?

That was sad here was a man decades ago truly had the world on a string. As one of his greatest songs spoke. To see him here you could tell he was not enjoying what single part of this. His last wife thar is how I will refer to her because I cannot find any respect to reference her in any good way due to the unkind and selfish ways she manipulating his last remaining years keeping his children at a distance just think of all the potential good times she stole from him . He could have enjoyed his grandkids and the relationship of his own children as they were older. Yet she tried to I convince him to adopt her one adult son she had with zeppo Marx this was his son. Yet she wanted to have her son adopted by frank so he could have the Sinatra last name and benefit from Frank's fortune instead of thing of this last gift he could give to his children or especially his grandchildren. Al she done by marriage to him was for her own benefit after he left this old world.. definitely was not for love

@@little_old_grannydoc oh I always heard the other way I stand corrected. Thank you . But it was sill a sad video of MR SINATRA you could tell he wanted to be out of there so bad. And Barbara would have been happy to stay there and receive as much attention as she could get. Only reason she married frank was to be a hanger on for the attention. I read the book that Tina wrote and Barbara kept all three of the kids at a wide distance. She was a bitch !!! I saw one last picture of frank just before he passed it was taken at his. He was wearing a robe and he had a cigarette in his hand and was not wearing his hair piece. You looked in those famous eyes and you could just see the sadness as if he was saying why I"am still alive. It would almost bring tears to think here was a man that was known all over the world and some people would have liked to just be able to have such a full life like he had . And to quote one of his songs that when I hear always brings a little tear the song is A Man Alone. That last picture truly reflected that.

      Hi Victor,
Watching this again strikes me with how pathetic it is.
There are so many tragedies in the world
you DO wonder about God's existence. There is a suprising (and fascinating) passage in Mark Twain's The Mysterious Stranger in which he speaks about God's hand in the harsh and cruel ways of the world. It's surprising, Victor, because you don't expect it of Mark Twain. If I had your email address I would be happy to forward it to you. (It spells out lots of reasons a person would question God's exitence! But I must hope and believe...otherwise, how will I again see my beloved family members who are gone from here.
Believe me, I am not a religious person. I HAVE to believe my terrific brother who was a third year med student who died from cancer at age THIRTY-TWO is surfing among the clouds and can sit down to talk with Babe Ruth or mess around with Marilyn Monroe! and that my adorable father can chat with SINATRA! and, what about my MOTHER??? Am I REALLY SUPPOSED TO NEVER SEE HER AGAIN??? None of this makes sense! (On the subject my father believed there is nothingness after death.)Who, but
who, knows! All I know is...well, nothing, I guess, really...
Thank you very much for your reply, Victor.
Whatsoever is honest, pure, good, fine, beautiful
      Think on these things~

So blame his wife for allowing him to perform a year later, for money, for 6 songs in the ballroom in Palm Desert. Then of course years later the family wants the video of the show taken down when someone posts the historical concert. Ridiculous greed and hypocrisy.

Read the Book of Hebrews in the Holy Bible, it explains what God is doing for us :-)
