    Fun fact about the gunfight/stunt show, it is the longest continuously running western shoot out in America. Started on opening day in March 1958. I worked the stunt show 2018-2022 and am now a sub.

    Glad you were able to swing by OKC. Your suspicions about Silver Bullet being a former traveler are 100% right as she was a fair circuit ride until Frontier City bought her. The other two big Roller Coaster there have similar backgrounds, Wild Cat is a hybrid (wood track with steel supports) that was purchased from a park in Kansas and Diamond back is the top half of the Lightning Loops ride from Great Adventure. So Frontier City has a unique Coaster collection mostly composed of unique second hand rides.

    • @BackSeatJunkie
      @BackSeatJunkie 5 лет назад +1

      A wood track with steel supports is not a hybrid. Just a wood coaster with metal supports.

    • @Northicex
      @Northicex 5 лет назад +2

      @@BackSeatJunkie Actually coasters in this configuration are also referred to as Hybrids (Hybrid referring to the multiple construction materials either wood on steel or steel on wood). Other notable coasters in this type of hybrid configuration include Gemini at Cedar Point and the Voyage at Holiday World. The more recently popularized RMC Hybrids while revolutionary weren't the first to employ a blend of building materials.

    Sorry I should of gave you some brief history of the park. Big Fan of the park. Big fan of my home state. The Carousel has an interesting history to it it was once a Traveling carousel that traveled with the Smithsonian anniversary tour back in the mid 90's. The park bought the carousel from the Smithsonian and the manufacturer built a special Oklahoma Themed horse. The Governor of Oklahoma at the time made the Carousel the official Carousel of Oklahoma. The Train Galley Car behind the Not so great Dark Ride Quick Draw was once owned by a U.S. President. I can't remember the U.S. President. The not so great Dark ride Mountain and the buildings that run along the East side of the park are all original to the park when it was built in the 1950's. The old western stunt fighters Gun Show Frontier City is where that type of show started in theme parks. It was the pioneer for that type of show. The park has some great theme park history. Bummer Tumbleweed and Renegade Rapids were not open for you. They opened up this past week. Gunslinger and Diamond Back are slated to be open with the next couple of weeks. The park extended their season in 2018 and it shortened up their off-season for the first time it was like 11 weeks. So the shorter off season and the transformation to a Six Flags managed park there was A lot of work they had to do that some of the attractions were pushed back well into after the park has opened for the season. Renegade Rapid has some great interactive queue line theme-ing. Along that pathway in front of the Train station you missed Uncle Bart the talking farting outhouse. The park has 120 acres to use and right now it is only using 45 acres. So I'm definitely interested to see what Six Flags does with this park in the next 30 years. Great Review glad you enjoyed the park maybe they will get a new Roller Coaster in the next couple of year that might entice you to come back to Oklahoma. Right now knowing you are a avid craft beer fan. You might be interested in staying at a new hotel that is under construction near the Capital. A large local Craft Beer company who distributes all over the state of Oklahoma and nearby states is taking a very large old US Army Armory. Beautiful 1930's 3 story building. Converting into a Convention Boutique/ Brewery hotel. Glad you enjoyed your stay in Oklahoma.

    ohh man, its been such a long time since I was here. Last time I was there was when the diamond back first opened. my buddy and I went there one day where not a lot of people were there. The guy operating the ride let us ride it non-stop without getting out. We only made it a couple minutes (maybe shorter, felt much longer). We had to tell him to stop when we were about to hurl.
    White water was a bunch of fun too. At the time (mid 90s) you could get a summer pass that covered both parks for 100.

LOL but I do remember it being a pretty cool place go look at the different stores going shopping and just checking every place out the the theme park here where I live they closed in 2006 and it was here since 1949 that's when it opened up here closed in 2006 and I really loved it best amusement park in the world here in Kansas but like I said it closed up so sad to see it go because I went there since I was a small child and then my grandparents when they would go to Oklahoma and we go to there to see family and then when they would mention do you want to go to Frontier City I said hell yeah you know it I have beautiful memories there they were my two favorite amusement parks the one here in Kansas and the one there in Oklahoma City well take care and God bless everyone

    Silver Bullet is in fact a portable coaster. That's why they have all the water buckets like the ones near the loop: those are there to weigh the ride down, I kid you not. There are several identical clones of Silver Bullet that were once used to travel from fairgrounds to fairgrounds, although I think most of them today are permanently set up in one location as Silver Bullet is. I also think that the portable coaster that's designed after the Olympic Rings was made by the same company as this one. It wasn't the same layout of course but I'm pretty sure it was the exact same type of track.

      In fact it is the prototype of all transportable looping coasters made by Anton Schwarzkopf in the late 1970s to mid 1980s. It is the only "Looping Star" (single loop) to be designed as a fully transportable, the later ones had less "plug" connectors and more bolts, and one or two even require concrete foundations. The "Olympia Looping" that you refer to follows the Schwarzkopf heritage, but was built after Schwarzkopf went bankrupt. It still licensed his designs and he worked as a consultant when that ride was built. ;-)

      To wrap up things around Steel Lasso: It is a coaster which was designed by Vekoma. Also trains, control systems, and all that stuff was made by Vekoma. Just the tracks and supports were manufactured by Chance Morgan. It's not uncommon to have coasters manufactured somewhere else if they are going to be installed on another continent. Much cheaper than shipping them across the Ocean.
      Most B&Ms in the US were actually made in Ohio, even though B&M is a Swiss company. ;-)

      I believe opening times vary depending on the day of the week. Park opening times are listed on the website

    I've read so many bad reviews about this park. Overpriced, The teenage employees are clueless and don't care, the floor around the soda machines are sticky, restrooms nasty, food is terrible and most of the rides are closed due to under staffing.

    I only know six flags because of magic mountain but it's like they didn't care to make this park exciting. It puzzles me when the park I've been to is way more fun than this park. You can't even compare. Rides here looked dirty and unkept. And the overall vibe I got seemed like a park that people forgot

    Silver Bullet sucks. It breaks down a lot. People actually get stuck on it all the time. I think 3 times last summer. Actually the entire parks sucks.
